I'd like to think the 3+ minute into is considered informative. For those that don't like intros and just want the drill, here are the timestamps: 0:00 - Intro What and Why 3:42 - Step 1 9:06 - Step 2 13:57 - Step 3
I tried this on the range recenlty and immediately started hitting high draws! I truly wish someone had taught me this drill when I started taking golf lessons 25 years ago. Thanks Chris!
I like these videos which are perfect for what I'm working on. After golfing inconsistantly for years I decided to finally fix my weight transfer issues. One thing that is helping me is to start the swing i shift weight from right to left and back to start the swing. It gives me the back and forth feeling that seems to help me.
Ok so your channel came up on my recommendations and I clicked the video out of curiosity. I don't think I've subscribed to a new channel faster. Great tutorials bruv!
I love the progressive approach you guys take. I always do 5-10 reps and then wonder why I can’t take it to the full swing🤦🏻♂️ I’ve seen some excellent gains over the last couple of weeks! Thank you 🙏
Thank you for the kind words and glad you’re on the channel. Gotta put the reps in and stay super focused to see real impactful changes. Let me know if you need any help or have any questions along the way.
I’ve always wondered what good players were doing when they spoke of pulling the arms down. Because when bad players try that, they get steep and OTT. This makes a lot of sense.
@MyGolfDNA you are more than welcome. Perhaps you have probably figured this out already...I hope so...but some of those complaining about you explaining too much or talking for too long.....I guess they will not do the reps you recommend needed to get the most out of your drills anyway. We all learn differently ...some will relate to your teaching style/method and others not. Some will put in the work and others not. I relate to it and understand the reps are essential so am grateful. Coming back to the game after a 25 year break. Back at my old handicap of 10 hoping to get to single figures before I die. LOL....still playing with my BC Ping Eye 2s.....my 7i is 36 degrees and Bryson's 26 degrees and most modern 7 irons have the loft of my 5i. The game has changed so much! Thanks again.
I’ve tried the passive arms and pulling the arms with limited success. LEARN THE THIRD OPTION !!! The post up segment was an issue for me until I began focusing on the movement of the left shoulder and its connection to the swinging of the left arm. My problem was not continuing to rotate to the finish. For me, focusing on getting the left shoulder up and in after the initial downswing movement was the key to making my swing flow . Arm shoulder connection, arm cannot overtake shoulder and shoulder cannot outrace arm. This is difficult for me to articulate, I hope you a make sense of it. The video was very helpful.
Another great video Chris. So this shoulder movement happens at the same time the belt buckle goes below the line from Sequencing The Golf Swing Made Easy (Part 2) | Downswing Power Move? These lessons really link together well. Thanks again.
Thank you! Since the golf swing is dynamic and the weight shift is (planting of the foot) happening first and as soon as you feel the pressure hit the lead foot to 80%, the left shoulder arm function should commence. Think pressure down, shoulder down. Hope that makes sense.
@@MyGolfDNAgot it I think...time it with the transfer to the foot but that will more or less be the same time as the belt drops below the line? I think in Rick Shiels recent video where he plays Justin Rose, Justin talks of this movement at the 46 minute mark as he explains to Rick his bad habit of pulling on his arm and coming over the top.
@@rgsochin3432 During the initial shift to the lead side when the belt is dropping down, the backswing is still coming to completion (shoulders are finishing the turn and the arms are still working into the vertical plane). So you want to think about completing the transition before the shoulder/arm move commences. At speed, it will "feel" like its happening together. Good way to check is work the drill and get to fluidity, look at it from down the line and see where the lead arm is when the weight gets to the lead side and the hips are square. If the arms are way below parallel to the ground (p5), then you did the arm/shoulder move too early in the sequence. Note, in the drill, the arm will have dropped below P5 when you're in step 2 for obvious reasons. Let me know if you need further help on this and I'll gladly help out as I know a lot of others will have the same question(s).
The drill where I have you dropping the right arm from the top is the baseline movement and is teaching you how to get your arms to work independently of the shoulders from the top, down into the delivery. This video is the more advanced movement that helps you create the stretch in the lead shoulder in transition and to lower the lead arm. I advocate the first video for those needing to feel the correct sequence and for those that tend to fire the arms and shoulders way too early. I advocate the 2nd one for those that have learned how to remove over active arm and shoulder function. Hope that helps.
Same movement from the lower half in transition but the lowering of the bicep below the chest for one planers may not be necessary as that could leave the arms really stuck.
Can you get Jas to gain 50 lbs and show me the motion again with his gut in the way so I can relate? Another first, understanding why just throwing the arms down is working against me. Never heard that before in thousands of videos.
Loving your videos, man I have learned more information about proper sequencing from your instruction in this 1 video than I have the past 2 years researching and watching 100s of others to try and piece everything together. Simple, clear and easily translatable to practice drills and the full swing, thanks a million kind sir! As a 19 Cap I'll be practicing these drills non-stop
Happy to have you on the channel and your support!! Makes my day to know that someone is gaining the knowledge they need to get better at this crazy game. Please let me know if you have any questions along the way. Now, get to drilling😎
This is sweet! I can feel all of the blood rush down to my left hand when you let er rip. Great instruction and check points to allow yourself the next move. Well done!
So, I'm not clear, did you say it's okay to keep totally passive arms and just use the legs and hips, because when I do that I get way more club head speed than I did when I was using a right hand hit swing, and it gives me less to think about.
I’d keep the arm functions minimal in the swing especially since you’re seeing more speed. That’s more than likely that your sequence is working so darn good. If you get to a point where you’re looking for more speed and you’re maxed out with leverage, you could introduce a little pull from the arms through the acceleration zone to help speed the hands up. Just don’t let it cause faults that make for big misses. Hope that helps.
Bryson says he gets a lot of his power from his lat muscles which he uses to pull the club down very very fast. He came second in long drive worlds last year and the US open last week
Yep, the lats will be working quite a bit in this movement. They are the biggest surface muscles with have and their engagement is important for sure. A lot of students don’t have connection to the lats in the swing even if they are using them.
I like how in detail it is, but not 100 percent sure wich way you "pull the bicep towards the chest" for me that sounds like internal rotation and i think you are showing external rotation of the upper arm, please clarify😢
I have NO idea how I missed this post. My apologies. The lead shoulder will move from a protracted (slightly internally rotated) back to a neutral position which would be more towards the external rotation you speak of. Great question and sorry for the delay. It will NOT happen again:)

This drill is different from your previous video on dropping the right arm before turning your hip to the ball. So which one you are advocating?

So have u guys measured tour pro hand speed from the top
It's quick. Very quick.
Thank you for the always insightful content. For this sequence, are there nuances to the drill depending on if I have an one place or two plane swing?
Same movement from the lower half in transition but the lowering of the bicep below the chest for one planers may not be necessary as that could leave the arms really stuck.

Bingo!
Regarding the greatest golfers of all time - more than just a couple of them had a raised lead heel.
I noticed Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, and even Tiger Woods doing it.
He kind of sounds like Dan Aykroyd......
