If you have ever watched Brewmaster Ben's videos he did an experiment by NOT priming a dark beer as they have a reputation for producing gushers. After several months in bottle with no priming sugar the beer was still perfectly carbed! I never have this problem as I have mine all drunk well before this time frame!
I will have to give that video a watch, I’ve not heard of that phenomenon before but it’s helping make a lot of things make sense! I’ll make sure to finish my dark beers quicker from now on!
Note.. Chocolate malt doesn't add chocolate flavour.. Its called chocolate malt due to the temperature its malted at, compared to black malt. Flavour wise, its basically a less harsh black malt, coffee, roasted nut.
