Japan really has some influence on the meta. Zangief hasn’t won a single major and nobody outside of Japan really talks about him, yet he got nerfed this hard while real threats like Rashid go ignored.
Once again, I have to stress that Gief could have gotten way worse in terms of nerfs. I know the scaling bad, but knowing the history of this character I suspected a complete gutting, so if anything im impressed he got to keep as much tools as he did Now im not saying we should shrug off these changes and call everyone dooming over Gief babies either, im more just looking at the positives and knowing that it could have been way worse. We aint frogs, so we still gotta be alert if the water starts boiling
why does everyone get massive damage on combos but zangief gets nerfed. Terry alone has some stupid easy high damage combos which most likely won't get nerfed at all.

So just so I understand this. In past entries zangief had vile vortexes and entered the grappler lottery several times a set, right? And this mode of interaction was deemed too much. Let's ignore that a lot of the current cast run you down from full screen and hit confirm a fireball then get 3 way mix oki off every combo. So in order to compensate for spd having very low to no oki in this game they gave him mean combo and pressure tools. ... but now they're making his combo game objectively worse and giving him better oki as a trade..? Am I understanding this right? Is that the goal of the +8? Or is it given a lot less though than that and it's a nothing-burger change to prevent riots while making it easier for less mechanical players to combo with 2mp instead of hellstab?
I’ve tried this but I’m not sure if this is real or fake, but after doing the bnb headbutt combo with them in the corner I jump and do down air HP and I’ve clipped them during their EX DP because of the cross up but I’m still clipped by crouching fierce or another Zangief’s lariat, either way this is sad for giefs cause most of these characters including us had the ability to take more than half your health, but unlike us we don’t have buttons like the previous dlc character Bison, so now we have to go back to hoping they “act like they won’t get command grabbed” and don’t cross jump us in our faces. (Especially with our anti air problem)
Did some labbing on Zangief's 6HP (Headbutt) DR 6HP +12 onHit, comboes into 12f Sweep: with +10f if you dash afterwards. If opp 4f mashes: You can (I think?) stMP ch TC stLK ch DR 6HP ch trade? DR (wip) Also, Kobanyan's crLP into 6HP ch trade, can lead to this +10 Sweep too?
I feel gutted by the scaling nerf, it just means that you have to make even more absurd reads with spd and there is still no other way to play gief, like you can use headbutt less
I think I am done with this game. I don't play any other characters and I am tired having to fight the system as well as my opponent, damage is what Gief has and taking this away makes little sense when you needed to land a 13F HB to get it. Also, Capcom did not add the ground bounce to HB when hitting an airborne opponent but DJ got it added with his axe kick... Looking at the rest of the cast, they reverted lots of nerfs from S2 update (thanks for the scissor kick nerf). Thanks for the video.
@@SassyRiolu Needing 1 more interaction to kill is pretty bad, I stuck with him trough the whole s1, but seeing the top tiers still untouched, the JP, Ed and Sim buffs. I dont have the strength to stay a loyal fan, I'll just uninstall if I dont find another character that I want to play.

I think he needs a second move to add to combos because everything involves headbutt. If it were the move to mix someone on block but we had other combo filler that would be nice. But stHK only works AFTER headbutt, so there’s just no way to not headbutt in combos. Maybe create a new move on him or change the properties of some of his moves because there is just no heavy move that doesn’t apply insane scaling for combos and doesn’t launch.
@@LakeEarth helps condition opponents to block more, leading to stronger strike throw mixups. Also, being able to combo from dr into cr. Hp and sweep opens up new routes.

@@Vyke-k2h cr. mp linking is a secondary benefit. It's really about the extra point blank frame, as well as extra options out of Dr headbutt, including oki opportunities. But yes, having two options from headbutt adds another another layer to the opponents mental stack, which, if not a net benefit, at least mitigates the nerf considerably.

Capcom didn't nerf Zangief enough. They should have swapped his health for Akuma's given how opponent grabs with high jump landings do as much damage as a raging demon.

Fuck, the damage scale of the HB nealy kills his BnB combo. I think its not worth to finish this combo with OD Lariat -> LV2 or 3 anymore.

Bison actually got nerfed. Scissor got reduced pushback on block, so you can punish him more easily.

I think the nerf should have targeted the gauge chip and plus frame on headbutt, not the damage.

I think the damage nerf was intended to be offset by the frame buff. I'm optimistic.
I don't really see how the frame buff helps. It makes SA2 combos easier from crMP, but that doesn't make him better.
