This song sounds like "daylight." It is calming and gentle on the nerves. I miss it since I first heard it on WPIX FM in New York in 1982. This song is my favorite.
Aah, Steppin' Out...one of those songs that I often describe as sounding like 2:00 am in the city...the atmosphere of walking up a brightly lit but empty 8th Avenue, slightly inebriated, on a slightly breezy summer night after the bars have closed. I love records that paint a vivid mental picture on the strength of its *sound*; the '80s were the golden age for this little subgenre and this is a fine example. The funny thing is, until Shazam came along I never knew it was Joe Jackson. When I was little, it always had this sort of unidentifiable, ubiquitous "all-purpose generic '80s pop song" vibe where I could never quite place its origin, like the background music of an instructional videocassette. Great song, but just kinda mysterious to my young ears.
Me and my mate lived in London in the 80's. i lived in Covent garden. My mate came in to town from out of town. We went out with this blasting. . It was our signature
..a very clean extension, with great, matching sound quality; a LOT of People don't know this Song is actually about Joe contemplating s-icide and fantasizing about the 'freedom' of the afterlife ( '..into the night, into the light...' ) ...We should just interpret it for what it SHOULD be...the romanticism of Two loves enjoying the shimmering beauty of NYC nightlife......Thanks, Joe....and, THANKS, Beaglemaster, for the 'extension'....

I haven’t heard it all the way, but I’m going to take a chance. This is a magnificent extended rendition of an all-time favorite of mine that slipped right on by way back in 1982 when it first came out. Great work by the DJ known as Beaglemaster3. This worthy is the equal of Disco Cat. You both use the vocals and instruments themselves, and you don’t screw it all up with synthesized back beats, handclaps, and other such unnecessary crap. Could I get an extended version of “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac? I heard the Jellybean remix, and it was slop slop slop! Thanks.
"We...so tired of all the darkness in our lives" Simply a greatest vitality´s declaration. I love it.
Great song from 1982!
