I just read Osman's ESPN article on Arshad Nadeem and just got blown away. Such an articulate and beautifully written article. The way you capture the imagination of the audience with your complete command of the English language. Such a masterpiece. God bless you. Please never stop writing and doing this podcast :)

"Arshad Nadeem, of Mian Channu in Pakistan has the Stade de France clapping along with him; the Stade de France where, 26 years ago, Zinedine Zidane was conductor of this orchestra. May that never sink in." Osman's keyboard was caught on fire after writing this. Best article writer i've ever read. He captivates the shit out of the reader.

Arshad Nadeem's silver medal in World Athletics Championship at Hungary last year was equally as monumental as his Gold medal victory in Paris Olympics 2024.
Shockingly, Pakistan's sports administration didn't take notice of it. I was surprised to learn that few months prior to Olympic Games he had no Javelin to practice.

This episode was as satisfying as watching a great movie. I thought I'll just tune in for a little bit & finish it tomorrow, but I ended up listening to the whole thing in one go. It is 2:40 AM here right now, in India.

Arshad Nadeem deserves the sole credit not the Pakistani government or the Pakistani olympic committee. Had he migrated to UK/Audtralia or any other country these countries would recognize his raw talent and he would have been winning medals long before and after. The govt officials who are welcoming him is for their own selfish political interests.

The guy with Shehbaz Sharif is Rana Mashood who is currently sports minister. If you liked his performance, do look up the video of how Roberto Mancini reacted to being greeted by him. Great Episode!

What made this truly remarkable was the standard of competition at this Olympics. Multiple champions at/near peak, and he broke the previous record; twice.

The right word that Osman was trying to recall to describe Arshad's feat was 'Sputnik Moment' around which Pakistani sports, official history, pop culture, folklore(people's history) etc revolves/pivot arounds.
Both Arshad & Neeraj are Dozakh ke Shahzade who have beaten maasively built & muscular Europeans/Nordic men who have traditionally dominated Javelin throw.
One funny war that broke out on Indian twitter was over the caste/biradari of Arshad Nadeem. Jaat, Rajput, Gurjar & Yadav(Ahir) caste militias had a field day on twitter trying to claim him as one of their own.

Majid Bhatti is actually very right in suggesting that Arshad Nadeem deserves to be awarded a one year contract from Pakistan Cricket Board. 😁

Please someone agree with me so I know I am not alone on this- Arshad Nadeem looks a great deal like Waqar Younis.

I have never had a more relatable sports moment than when Oosman started talking about how he saw alot of the olympics and I immediately knew he was going to talk about Sable. I am also that guy jo teesray moniter per saaraa din CBC kee athletics stream chala kar baithaa rahaa hay. By the by... Sable has hit out at the trolling they got for "underperforming" against expectations. Theyre Olympians are at a level now where they are getting the cricketer treatment for not failing. Then again Sable se koi kuch expect waisay kar nee raa thaa so uske liyay kehna asaan hay.

Arey sir...koi accountability nahin hai yahan India mein bhi. Saari federation sarasar corrupt hain. Jo basic accountability hai woh bhi jeetne ke baad, marketability aur uske chalte ek social currency ki power se aata hai. Toh basically poora daaromadaar athlete par hi hai.
