Mr. Uematsu seems like such a kind and generous man. His smile alone makes me want to give him a hug and thank him for the beautiful music he's made over the years.
Yeah, it seems like there's a lot of "legends" that we see as "big dogs" waiting to eat you but you meet a respectful and nice people instead.

Yes, I can also vouch for his kindness to his fans. I bumped into him at an airport and he was happy to share a moment. Legend.
I feel like a lot of the Japanese developers are like that, down to earth nice people that love to share what they create.
I met Nobuo when he came to Chicago 5 years ago for a concert. He came to my college for a Q&A, and he’s such a humble guy. When they said the Q&A was ending soon he asked to extend it 30 more minutes to get everyone’s questions in. His passion is infectious!
He's the best of the best. He is the reason video game orchestra tours exist. He may not be the only legendary composer in gaming, but he is *The One* to Yoko Shimomura's *Trinity* and Koji Kondo's *Morpheus*

@@AkashiXI there was suppose to be a distant world show at montreal just like an Hatsune Miku show. My dad was about to by the tickets for miku and knowing that I would've asked him for Distant world. I mean it was a chance to maybe meet Nobuo Uematsu! But stupid Covid ruined it...

I've met this man several times and I'm honoured he remembers me (he likes my hair!) They say you should never meet your heroes, but after meeting with him, I find that phrase holds no weight. A truly lovely man!

That's cuz sometimes people think their "heroes" are absolutely awesome people, who can do no wrong... and when they meet them they actually are just human like yourself and have lots of flaws (or just be complete jackasses) - that stuff usually doesn't show up in video or their work.
So it's very disappointing. Imagine if Nobuo was a dick here instead of this cool old guy - the guy would be crushed.

The honor! I would've cried just by standing next to him, I can't even imagine how you felt when he complimented your work and skill.
I met Nobuo Uematsu by a complete accident once when I attended an FF11 Fanfest. A couple friends and I were completting one of the challenges and forgot the way back to the conference room. We ended up going out an opened emergency exit to walk around to the front of the hotel to get back to the lobby. Long and behold, he was on the side of the building taking a break from the meet and greet and smoking a cigarette. It wasn't a ground shattering experience mainly because he was taking a break and we didn't want to impose and make ourselves seem like obsessive fans. Later on, he saw us during our makeshift server wars and he signed our Carbuncle server banner.
I'd probably break down if I met him in person. He's a musical wizard.

Since I was a kid Mr.Uematsu's compositions has teached me so much about music harmony and structure. I still study his work and I am still amazed by it. The fun thing is that he does things which is not recommended according to western music theory.

I really hope that Marc Papeghin Will ever meet Nobuo Uematsu and be able to show his Final Fantasy Medley's to him. Hè is one of the best in the videogame cover community. It is one of his biggest dreams, Hè really deserves it.

I got the honor of meeting Mr. Uematsu at one of the Dear Friends concerts. I completely understand how nervous you were and how amazing it was to discover what a gentle soul he is. He's also very good in front of an American audience. He charmed everyone when someone asked him, "What is your favorite chocobo?" and his answer was, "Black chocobo.... OF DEATH!"
