I met wayne last summer and hes the most down to earth guy. sooo laid back and chill, took pictures with him and got to talk to him for like 10 minutes. Coolest day ever!
ughh...? Music from 70s & 60s made Tame Imapla what it is. The hook from the biggest song by Flaming Lips is something a prog band from these years would do
@@Yourbankaccount Specifically kevin parker cited the overblown drums on some Flaming Lips records that caused him to go back and re record the drums on lonerism!
OK, huge Brian Wilson fan, but the way Wayne Coyne talks about him here is hilarious because he has no malice in his voice. "It's unsettling to see him interviewed with me on TV, to tell you the truth." "If you interviewed him, he would cry"
I think Brian Wilson would actually do well in an interview with Nardwuar. Brian seems to respond better when the interviewer supplies most of the information and he doesn't have to say much. Case in point, the best Brian Wilson interview ever made was when Sean Lennon interviewed him. It's mostly just Sean gushing about how much he likes Brian and his music and Brian didn't have to go in depth with his answers as a result.
Yo Nardy, we need an updated interview with the flaming lips, c'mon man! Make it happen! or at least realese the extended version of this one. Doot doola doot doo ... doot doo!
I LOVE Wayne Coyne!!! I liked Lips a lot and had bought Fearless Freaks at BestBuy through their instore thing where u can order it. I'd eaten Alprazolam and drank booze before going shopping! (I wasnt driving!) And kinda forgot I'd got it. Like 3-4 later it just shows up in the mail. That's when I FELL INTO THE BAND SOOO HARD N DEEP!!!! Fell in live with them and now they're one of my top faves!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘💚🧡💚🧡💚🍻🍻
Love he's holding Cat Steven's "Mathew and Son" album ! "Mathew and Son", "I Love My Dog", "Bring Another Bottle"..grew up with that record, got it from a yard sale
Can't say I like The Flaming Lips, they have a few songs I love though...but they really put a lot of effort into their live shows, and by the sounds of it- the music they make too. So credit is definitely due, and I respect them
I saw 'em on the 4th, and god bless 'em, they threw a great party. His voice got rough by the end, but not till an hour or more in. The other time I'd seen 'em, they only did a half-hour set opening for Beck.
Yes, I saw them open for Beck I think it was 2002 and The Lips played the interview before the show. It was bizarre. Brian was so spaced out and he didn't make any sense. It was painful to watch. I don't know if everyone in the audience even knew know he was (my date didn't). One thing I'd like to add. You know those people that miss the opening act because they've never heard of the band? The people sitting beside us did that, They only showed up for Beck. Their loss.
I really didn't know anything about the Flaming Lips the first time I saw them. It was summer 2003 right before Yoshimi blew up and Do You Realize was played all over the place. Anyway they opened for the String Cheese Incident at this weird venue in Stanhope NJ called the Waterloo Indian reservation/ campground. They played stuff from Clouds Taste Metallic, Soft Bulletin, and Yoshimi. To this day it's one of the best shows I have ever been to because it was the first time I experienced being pleasantly surprised by a band that I had previously known nothing about... aside from instantly recognizing She Don't Use Jelly when they played it. Over the following weeks my friends and I collected as much of their music as we could find and they became one of my favorite bands.
I saw 'em a couple years ago; I just don't remember him sounding this bad. I'm gonna see 'em again in a couple days, actually, so we'll see how he sounds now!
Well, Brian's never been good at interviews, or talking to strangers. I just have a hard time imagining the two in same room. I like Beck and all, but yeah, those people were clueless. And I KNOW I've seen your icon somewhere before.
If Wayne Coyne describes you as "the real deal" you know you're off the deep end.
I think Nardwuar must have had an extra slice of cheese before this interview, he's kinda jacked up.
The energy in this is just great. I think Nardwuar was a little excited to interview Wayne.
Cocaine
@@oldgreggsgardentherapy Nope. Nard doesn’t do drugs.

"Flaming Lipper Wayner Cooooyner", I died.
These guys are like long lost brothers.

You know you’re legit when you freak out Wayne Coyne.
Very underrated band. Without these guys, Tame Impala and My Morning Jacket wouldn't exist.
No Modest Mouse, Bright Eyes, Coldplay, Polyphonic Spree, and so many more without Flaming Lips.
Underrated = WORSHIPPED

he interviewed this same guy kind of recently
Hey it's me from over 2 years ago, I guess the vid got removed
2020 agrees.
Love the flaming lips and Nardwuar
@@fIanneI do you know why?
Wayne's reaction at the end is priceless! 'He's the real deal, huh?...'

and Wayne too! Both are weirdos in a good way!

this is one of the best nardwuar interviews i've seen
This was back when wayne was still cool and down to earth.
I think Brian Wilson would actually do well in an interview with Nardwuar. Brian seems to respond better when the interviewer supplies most of the information and he doesn't have to say much.

Josh Zook hi Josh, I’m from 10 years in the future.
And yet most of the career in Flaming Lips Wayne was clean and didn't do drugs.
Yo Nardy, we need an updated interview with the flaming lips, c'mon man! Make it happen! or at least realese the extended version of this one.

"He's the real deal huh?" nice
Stuff was cut, you can see Wayne gets a gift we didn't see received. Where can I watch the uncut version?
Wayne is so genuine.
Wayne reminds me of Jeff Goldblum

he's such a happy man.
Those last 10 seconds are hilariously awkward. Never thought I'd see Wayne Coyne get sort of weirded out before.
Weird how they are editing this out of order. At some point he's holding on to a record, then it's gone, then back again.
holy shit, i fucking love the flaming lips.
Two fuckin' sweethearts right there.

Listen to their new album. You might love it 😊
it's not a joke interview. it's irony
I love nardwuar. he's so Alive!

you've never seen them live? wayne's voice is shaky at best in all their shows. he's always been pretty raw.
saw them in 2011 and it was amazing saw them 2013 one of the worst shows I’ve seen in my life

What were the main differences between those shows?
Ive never seen them live.
The end of 2000s and beginning of 2010s was prime Nardwuar
Wayne, unfortunately the McRibb is back...
