Check this out. I have a video when I did a event at the Houston Fishing Show at the Gorge R Brown Convention Center in Houston and I got to hear from some guys much older than me that knew the whole story on the Fishing reels and where they all came from. I'll try to find it tonight after I eat. Long story short. Lew's is the grandfather of fishing reels and Shimano was I gear company in charge of making the gears for Lew's fishing reels schwinn bicycles and others. Lew's invented the tear drop design that our hand fits. The level wind that doesn't go back an fourth when we cast. And some other things I can't think of right now. It was years later (because the owners of Lew's were not great businesses men) that Shimano watched/ waited until Lew's pattens went out that Shimano started making their own reels off of Lew's design and their big ticket was making saltwater reels and Lew's were mainly used by bass/freshwater fishermen. Okay. Class is over. I hope you took notes. Lol🎣🎣🎣🤣🤣🤣.
