Great video, I didn't pay attention to one important thing - here's a tip to learn from my mistake. I wanted to center the switch and jack. I didn't double check if the internal parts of the jack and switch would run into each other before I drilled the holes. The centered holes on my enclosure will not work, as the jack and switch don't fit, and now I will have to get a little extra crafty... So, the video's off-centered holes are a good idea!
just today was building tap button like that, and guess what? i did two central holes and now cant put them together... :D
Wish you could have done a LED light with it!
You could do that, but it would require a battery which would just be a pain
Awesome video, tried it out for my JHS morning glory as the red remote, works perfectly. Thanks!
Cool and simple build. I wonder if it would be possible to make a multi pedal switching bar like this, with multiple switchable send/return loops. That could be pretty awesome I think.
Great video! Very helpful and clear. 1 tip, just mention that you have a link in the description for the parts to buy.
The best video on RUclips about DIY footswitch. Great job!
P.S. Wish you could have done a LED indicator.
SapLi From the led is alteady on the amo
Thanks! It worked perfectly for my Orange 35rt.
I built one today using your video. Thanks. This was way cheaper then a red box from jhs and its the exact same thing.
Hi, can you please tell me which way I would wire the jack to a 3pdt switch?( i have a few lying around i would like to use up, and i have a jhs mg)
Clear explanation, great job. Appreciated. Need to try this one myself. Thanks
Works on a Marshall cab too. Boost channel needs to be engaged and the footswitch "cancels" that signal path.
Please a 3 footswitch pedal for a Jazz chorus 120. I know is the same thing multiply by 3, but would be great to see it first.
did you ever come across a video for this? I'm in the exact same boat rn
Check if your amp needs a 'momentary switch' instead first, mine does :).
this is great ❤️ love it please try to do a distortion and chorus pedal
im doing somethibg similar for a gcse engineering project where i want to turn a pedal on/off from an extra button or a switch in a guitar. i know nothing about guitar modding or much about electronics but seeing the pedal change the amps sound absolutely blew my mind because ive been trying to find something like that for ages now as my deadline will be coming up.
does anyone know however what i need to do or how i would actually make this work? because im still really confused and kinda dumb.
Great video! Keep up the awesome content, we really appreciate it.
Is this wiring considered "tip to ground" latching? I have a Mesa Boogie and I know that their amps require you to short the tip to ground.
Is this “tip to ground” latching? I know for Mesa Boogie amps require that type of latching.
I plugged nux nmp footswitch into my blackstar id core amp. It switches between two channels of my amp. Those are not the channels I want it to switch between. How can I get the footswitch to switch between the channels I want?
What circuit do I need if I want to add a led?
Awesome video man, a great beginner project
Will this work with an Orange Dark Terror? I tried my friend's 2-button Peavey footswitch and neither switch did anything on my amp but it only has two channels and his has three.
How about for 2 button ( channel change and reverb ? )
I think you can do this without the jack. Just solder the hot and the ground wires of a guitar cable with a jack plug to the logs of the foot-switch. Put some rubber ring around the hole in the enclosure where you have placed the jack - for cosmetics and to avoid the metal cutting the cable - and you're done. Easier to fit in the pedal board (no jack plug) and cheaper (if possible). Can you confirm?
Hi MerwinMusic. Is the 1/4" jack mono or stereo? I'm guessing mono? Also is the footswitch SPDT-On-On Latching?
I tried to built with dpdt switch, why i must double click the switch to turn on th effect?
Hi. Thans for your answer.
What you did mention is my original plan.
The only thing is that I found that my amp uses a DOUBLE DPDT SWITCH, two switches to change channel,
and both are wired in the circuit board. I don’t understand why they did use a single spst switch, this would make
It easier to wire my control pedal.
I am planing to add a spst to each dpdt and try.
Any comments are welcome. Thanks
SJ
Does you amp have a clean and drive channel, and then maybe a more and less drive?
2:51 What are you doing step bit?
Very nice!Where did you plug-in?I Have a Bugera 333xl and I don’t know other entrance to put…because is hard to find the original Footswitch! Thanks!👍🙏
I can do this with a switch of 2 pins or this need More pins?
That's quality!
Nice! I was trying to figure out how this works so i can make a pedal that will switch the amp channel and shut off the effects loop simultaneously. Anyone already take on a project like that? This is very helpful thanks.
what kind of footswitch is that? true bypass or momentary switch?
Great video! Do you know if this will work for Mesa Boogie amp as well? I would love to make one of these for my Fillmore 50. Thanks!
Do you know how pop noises can be avoided with custom DIY footswitches? im having some pop noises when engaging with my DIY footswitch and Mesa Dual Rec. Maybe adding a capacitor/resistor? Thanks!.
No need for grounding? I have a strange problem with my on or off footswicht i use to turn on or off on my reverb on my mesa fillmore head..when the reverb is on..it buzzes that gets louder with the reverb knob but when i touch the metal part of the cable jack..the buzz completely disappeared..zero buzz..and I just found out that when I put the foot pedal inside the head on top of the reverb tank..the buzz completely disappears.. i think it has to do with the input jack ground..could it be the washer that do not make contact with the footswitch enclosure..it has nothing to do with the reverv tank..it is fine..I am using a trs jack cable...any clue?
Nevermind..i found the problem..opened up the unit..i need to connect another cable from the opposite tab of the black cable to the last tab of the latch switch..no more buzz...0...
Great video!:thank you!
benas tardes, saludos desde colombia, este producto es compatible con el joyo bantamp, si es si, cuanto me cuesta con envio a colombia?
hey Nice Video, do you think I can add an extra jack for my Hunting Mids pedal? and do the same thing as you did? I want it to be more like a Fortin 33 pedal with an additional features.
Hey, I have a question. Does this footswitch work with a digital amp like the Fender mustang lt40s? I Would really appreciate for someone to respond cause im on kinda of a loss
Probably not. The Fender foot switch looks more complicated so its probably looking for different inputs then just bridging the connections.
Would this be considered a momentary switch pedal? I'm asking because I'm trying to avoid paying for a "gigrig bank manager" and I want to make the switch myself. I need to create a momentary switch to transition between banks on my "gigrig g2". Any help on this matter would be extremely appreciated
Can you please tell which type or kind of electric cable you used for the circuit?
Anyone know if this also works with the fender Frontman 212R? I have it at our rehearsal space and was hoping to get this made before I get to the amp :D.
does this work with blackstar id core 20 v3 amp..
Do you have a website I would like to order one !!!
good day.. please help me..technician says that i need to purchase the switch ic which is: 'NJM2120D jrc" and no one in my country selling it.. hope i have an alternative for this.. please help
Very clean build!!!
This Works for boss katana 50 mk1?
does it work on all amps that have a CH Switching feature ?
A much simpler way to find a center point is to just draw 2 lines from corner to corner in an X form. Where they meet is your center.
Will it work with Fender Mustang LT25 ?
Cool! I did this a few months ago
can i use it for guitar pedals? For on/off
Can this be used to analog effects under a board?
Can i do this on my peavey transtube 112 efx??
Will this work for the fender mustang gt 100?
How about a two button switch one for reverb one for crunch 😂
thanks man. he helped a lot.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🚀
how to add an led?
Great video! Would it work as a Fat Switch for a Fender Blues Junior? Thank you.
It should - those work the same way.
Will this work with a Marshall dsl 100h, it has a footswitch with three connections on the jack sleeve tip and another. Or is there an alternative wiring for that?
I think those work by the switch connecting tip to sleeve for one switch, and ring to sleeve for the other. This similar but you would need to switches and a stereo jack. I haven't made one personally though so I can't say for sure.
Anyone knows any scheme or anything to make something like this but for a Line 6 Spider IV, wich uses a RJ45 cable?
Hi ,I have a broken joyo dist pedal and I just wanna use its switches for exact purpose like this ,I couldn't figured poles of the switch ,how to find out man ,plz help
Draw the layout of the connectors. Then with a multimeter set to continuity mode test which terminals are connected to each other in each of the switches positions.
Fill in your layout and then use the correct terminals for your new switch.
Where could I purchase the matching switch ???
Good video.
I am trying to add similar pedal to my amp, but my amp does not have a jack for control pedals,
It has a selector switch on the panel instead.
The switch is soldered directly to the circuit board, so I need to solder my cables directly on the circuit board.
My amp is the “G20 Acoustic”.
Any recommendations?
SJ
You could put a jack on the back of the amp somewhere and then solder it to the switch leads on the circuit board.
Is that a certain kind of wire?
Does anyone know if you need a mono or stereo 1/4" jack?
Depends on your amp, for this video it's a mono. For a footswitch that's meant to switch two different things (ex. reverb and tremolo) it'd be stereo.
work in boss ds-2?
Yeah it should.
thank you - nice job
Is a 3pdt witch ok for this?
Awesome🙌✨, thanks a lot!
I tried it didn’t work no matter how many times I tried I did exactly like you showed maybe a bad switch
Mammoth Electronics website seems to not be working anymore. Thats a shame, that orange box is nice.
Yeah it was nice to get ones pre-painted. now you just have to paint your own...
@@MerwinMusic Presumably that takes you over $15 huh.
Can I also mod a latched footswitch? I can't find any videos on this 🤷♂️
? that is latched footswitch in the video
Hi there is any way to add a switching jack to my amp? To change channels. I have a joyo 20 watts amp clean and distortion switch but no jack to change with like a foot switch. Any ideas? thnx. Great video
You would have to open the amp up and solder wire extensions from the internal switch. Probably could be done but I wouldn't know for sure without looking at it.
@@MerwinMusiccool I will check that out
i mean the foot switch(dpdt)what is the dimension?i understand it is for mini pedal foot switch size but i don't know the size number i should say if I'm going to buy online.thank you salamat po sir.
It doesn't have to be this exact switch or come from Amazon but this should answer your question: a.co/38Jw5C1
Look at hammond boxes
what is the size of a mini pedal foot switch and input Jack? thank you?
Do you mean the enclosure? the jack is a 1/4" jack, the enclosure is a 1590LB hammond enclosure which is about 2x2 inches.
i just got a Fender foot switch from Amazon, for $13.00
fender make them fro around $3
how do you program it to specifically only toggle between clean and dirty?
No programming when the signal is connected to ground then the channel changes.
Is it mono or stereo jack?
Dpdt momentary switch on/on and 3pdt momentary switch will work? thank you.
If it is momentary then the amp will only be on the dirty channel while you are stepping on the switch.
Nice video! Where did you buy the enclosure? Looks very well made.
MammothElectronics.com
They have genuine hammond enclosures you find on name brand pedals with really nice powder coating options. #notsponsored
MerwinMusic Thank you!
apparently mammoth electronics doesnt exist anymore, any suggestions for good websites to buy electronics?
Mouser or Digi-key. Though you can only get unpainted enclosures which is a bummer.
I wonder if this would work on my 5150
Could one some how put 4 of these bad boys in a box with individual mono outs?
Actually i was wondering the same thing, which amp are you using? Boss Katana here.
Mostro En Turno Roland jazz chorus
Can anyone tell me where he got that precious little box from?
Unfortunately the guitar pedal company that I used to buy powder coated enclosures from went out of business. You can buy this little Hammond enclosure but you have to paint it yourself.
Don’t you need and input and output jack? I don’t understand, you can just use one cable?
The signal doesn't really go through the foot switch, you just connect signal and ground together to switch channels.
MerwinMusic oh ok, so how do you connect your guitar to the switch, and to the amp? Thanks for your help too!
@@matthewmcdonald4061 same question here
I still don’t understand, if you don’t have an output, how can you connect your guitar to the pedal and the amp?
A regular guitar cable
This pedal goes directly to the special footswitch input of the amp. The guitar also goes directly to the amp and you connect it to the regular input. Google Fender Champion 40, which is the amp I have, and there you can see both inputs, fs input and guitar input.
The Link provided for Mammoth leads to a dead end; saying they're no longer taking orders due to acquisition. Any other providers out there for such a small enclosure? All I'm finding are longer rectangular enclosures.
Yeah unfortunately I don't know where to find them either...
Love my switches had everything, in stock. Not orange like yours. I got white and followed your instructions. Thanks for the video.
Good
Do I have to solder can I just use electric tape.
I wouldn't trust just electrical tape but to each their own.
Can u make a dootswitch with 2 different output jacks one on one side and one on the other like pedals today i want to build one want a video on how to do one can u help me please and make a tutorial , so basically one button , and 2 outputs
Would this work on a jhs morning glory v4?
Yup
Este controlador funciona par el morning glory?
Si bro
@@jonathanvilartoquero2071 el switch sera NC o NA .. tenes idea..
The dpdt switch is momentary?
For this amp it is latching.
Its a dpdt momentary footswitch?
No it is latched. only need a spst switch, anything more is overkill.
i have a old fender power chorus amp and o use have one back in the day but now i got i found and it doesnt have the 4 way foot switch. how does someone make a 4 way foot switch for this amp?
you could try and find a schematic for the original foot switch. I don't know what you would exactly need for your exact application.
What is it? Is it 3pdt?
Looks like he used a DPDT - two pole, double throw switch. Obviously all you need is SPST for this application.
@@tbd114 I would depend on exactly how the the AMP's channel switching is wired. To be certain it works you should use a DPDT with the 2nd pole just for the light. You could use a dual color LED and have it turn on red or green.
Great video. THANK YOU! Works perfect. I too want to add a led to this little box. Just bought all the parts to try. Will advise how many led's I burn up before I get it right.
I plan to use this build for my Carl Martin Dual Compressor - www.carlmartin.com/andy-timmons-signature-comp
There is a remote jack input that switches to channel two of the compressor. I use this as a boost function. Would this work as a tap tempo switch using a momentary switch instead of latching? Might need a TRS jack for that (?).
