    I'm just getting into pedal building/modification, and you have some of the best, most helpful videos out of any of the ones i've seen. Very few people go into enough depth on what the parts are, but you're top tier helpful man

    +DIY Guitar Pedals great video! My EHX Small Clone has an awful footswitch that I have to really stomp on to get it to work, so I want to replace it. The Small Clone footswitch looks like the second footswitch in this video, the blue one you're holding at 7:47. How can I find a switch that'll fit my Small Clone? It looks to be a double throw. I really like the footswitch in my Sansamp Classic- if I get a second footswitch identical to the one in my Sansamp, will it fit my Small Clone? I'm new to this so I'd really appreciate the help

It has a 2pdt switch. I know I would need to add a 1/4 jack. Probably TS. Does it matter if it's a switched or non switched jack. No one seems to have the answer. Thank you

    Hi Paul, Thanks for the video!! Refreshing to hear an Aussi accent. I’m from SA.
    This will be my first pedal project and I just wanted to check something before I start.
    I want to mod a simple a b box (no LEDs/power) into an a b y box. All I need is a switch to activate the y for different pedal setups (summing parallel effect signals (Q within a Q: is this the right way to sum?)). Would all I need be a single pole double or would I need a three pole double throw like the foot switch?

  • @CampingTrev

    I've got a boss pedal I love, but I hate the stomp box. I'm replacing the housing and want to put a standard foot switch. It's designed with a spst switch, can I use a TPDT switch? Would I just use one throw and one pole and keep the remaining unused?

    @DIY Guitar Pedals, I have a question, the type of switches you use for effects I was always hesitant to use because they are AC rated and I learned that you NEVER throw any DC signal through an AC rated switch. If a guitar pedal effect circuit is powered by a DC source such as a 9V battery, will it be fine? Also Can these kind of switches be used to switch an effect on and off? Like say switch on overdrive and then switch it off so that a normal guitar signal goes out?

    Can I use any type of dpdt 3pdt switch in place of a standard footswitch? Like a 3pdt rocker switch that's an on off basically? Is there a certain amp switch or specific rocker switch I'd need?
    Thanks in advance. Have a pedal that I'm building and I don't want a foot switch but I still want to activate and deactivate the effect without compromising the signal.

  • @zacharygh

    I started to build a pedal from Rullywow, and it did not turn out so well. When I hooked it up to the amp and power supply without the guitar connected, it started playing the radio. I was so infuriated by this. This is the second thing I build that somehow connects to the radio.

    • @DiyguitarpedalsAu
      @DiyguitarpedalsAu  9 лет назад

      Shaman Man Hey mate, radio can be caused for a number of reasons. A bit like most fault diagnosing (computers, health etc) it helps to get an indepth description of the problem and conditions / situation. I would highly recommend posting your question on one of the guitar pedal building forums, lots of helpful folk. Include clear photos and voltages if you can, that will help the members assist you with your problem. Hope you sort it out!

  • @jfjoubertquebec

    Great video! Call me crazy but I've been looking for acousticaly silent switches ... it seems to me those regular switches click super loudly (perhaps not in the signal but certainly in the room)...
    Also that momentary switch I figure would be great with a flanger/phaser (ex. in the EVH song Unchained, when you are constantly switching on, switching off )
    So can you suggest any silent switches?

    Very nice video, love it!!!
    Im wondering if i can change the switches of my Joyo PXL Live. When i change some presets, the pxl "pops" and its kind of annoying. I think it pops because of its switches that are those that click, and not the soft ones they use on modern pedal loop switcher.
    Is that possible? Thanks

    • @TheAsk3r
      @TheAsk3r 4 года назад

      Hi , i also use a FLX . I use it live and to avoid pop noise you don t need to replace the switches . I found that the FXL pops if you have reverbs and delays wired in some loops . To avoid that i simply engage all of the presets one by one before connecting to the amp . Works for me . Anyway i agree , swithches could be better .

      Don Lee Good stuff Don. Some require mom and some require switched, just be sure to use the right one. Also a good mod for a mom spst footswitch is on delay pedals were you can hold down the switch for full feedback / oscillation!

    • @MyDemon32

      emiliano echeverria Normally open is just an open circuit, electricity does not go through the circuit unless you press the button. Normally closed is the opposite of Normally open, the electricity goes always through the circuit untill you press the button again

    • @Loscha
      @Loscha 9 лет назад

      Perro Famoso you are correct. They use a 1P1T (2 wire push-button) to drive a flip flop circuit that routes the signal through the effect, and not through the effect.
      Those who prefer "true bypass" won't use this, as there will always be signal passing through some aspect of the circuit.

    • @FantaFuture92
      @FantaFuture92 9 лет назад

      Edward Jones The switch you mean is a momentary switch. 1P1T is just a ON/OFF Switch. Why would you say 1P1T lol... It is a SPST switch.

  • @zapz2101
    @zapz2101 7 лет назад

    hi what does NC(normally closed) and NO(normally opened) mean?

    • @pascalha2567
      @pascalha2567 7 лет назад

      Normally closed means that when the switch isn't pushed you get a signal on the output of the switch. If you then push it, it opens the contact and you don't have any signal on the output. Normally opened means the opposite. When the switch isn't pushed you have no output signal. If you push it you get an output signal. Hope you understood the explanation. Sorry for my bad English.
