People didnt realize, Jamie was carrying a hand sanitizer in his pocket, he clean his hand before touching Brainna..
Gannicus yea time of Corona Virus 🦠 so thus we have these responses lol 😂
@@createlovetravel hahaha' and I am watching this to ESCAPE from that
he knew the future and got that shit cheap
Nah he actually had lotion in his pocket from whacking off earlier and used that same hand to touch her face which is why her face is soo sticky after this. In fact, her tears ran that sticky stuff all the way down and got her pregnant! 😮
No masks SMH
The summary of the comments section:
70% he’s touching her face with a pee hand
30% i’m crying
😂😂😂😂 it was distracting
I don't believe most civilized men, even men from the 17th century pee all over their hands when they need to go. Why is this such a problem? There were no sinks and running water back then. NO public bathrooms. Hygiene was looked at differently.
@@coleenbrooks1572 very different, shit women were lucky if they made it through child birth w their first baby.
lilMissF0F0 I did not think of that lol! Way to go for spoiling that scene forever for me.
lilMissF0F0 I’m part of the 70%😂😂😂💔
Sam Heughan is an incredible actor.
What a family: father: scottish accent, mother: british accent, daughter: american accent. 😂
She was born in America
🤣🤣🤣that is funny
I was born and raised in the South, but I don't have a Southern accent. Everybody I meet swears that I sound like I'm from "up north". **shrugs**
My ears cringe when Brianna talks 😬 that accent
In America it's called an American family because American is the melting pot of all the countries
Sam's acting in this the emotion is raw and brilliant
True! Too bad the girl is a poor actress
Yeah
Thanks Gracelin
Thanks for your comment
Oh omg Jamie thinking she was some chick hitting on him at first XD
At least it showed a testament to his character. If it had been dougal for example, having a wife wouldn't have mattered lol.
he knows he is hot haha but his heart belongs to claire 💜
Just imagine if he had been like Dougal. Brianna would've been so disgusted.
FireFlyGal he’s been hit on before in Wilmington. When he was recruiting settlers and the young woman who said her husband wasn’t home yet but if Jamie wanted to come inside, she could serve him some of her “special pie.” Most men back then don’t look like Jamie
😭😭😭😭
Jamie is just so gorgeous and his emotions are real and tender. 💜
*Sigh* Ik, I'm just so in love with the guy..if only I cld find one like that in this day and age, lol.
Im sorry lass but technology has ruined us and turned us men into virtual weak zombies. Men were men back then men who could show real emotion to others. Now we just stare at computer screens and type

I lost a 2 1/2 year old daughter to cancer 15 years ago. I still dream about her every now and then and in my dreams she's always as old as she would be around the time of my dream if she'd lived. Now, I don't know if I'll ever see her again... much in the same way as Jamie never thought he'd get to meet Brianna. All of us separated by life, death and many years passed or yet to come.
But it's safe to say that when I watched this scene for the first time, I bawled my eyes out.
There's not a lot I wouldn't do to make it so.
From the way you are speaking about her, and about how you dream about her after all these years, it is clear that that little girl was very loved and cherished.
@@Mike_Jones281 she most definitely was.
@FallenMysteries you made me smile, stranger... Thank you 😘
I understand. I have red hair. Never met my birth father. He has been dead since I was 16. 😭
It is believed that in heaven children continue to grow up so she must have visited you in your dreams
Does everyone commenting about Jamie not washing his hands just NOT remember Claire working piss into fabric with a group of women?
Well the ammonia compound in piss is used as a cleaning detergent when milked with ashes as it produces an alkaline solution. Everyone did it. But it Is funny they all forgott that
@@tamashiranai1091 Urine was used for more than just cleaning, historically. In the scene I am talking about, they were using the urine for a mordant during a process known as "waulking." Basically, they would use stale urine for its ammonia to set a dye into fabric.
Or tasting it in the hospital to diagnose diabetes?
Yeah but i don't remember her touching Jamie's face after that. And i'm pretty sure she must have washed her hands at a river at some point even though they didn't show it.
@@piropiro1882 true but still. Lol I think I'd be more grossed out by the tasting than the hand he held his junk with
I cheated I confess. I viewed this when I'm only up to season 3. And I'm misty just like I knew I'd be. (More recent edit 6 months later): I have since watched all 5 seasons and this scene still is my favorite! They both knew about each other and longed to meet each other and here it is after a season and a half of build up...I notice how Jamie gets a tear at the exact same time that the rest of us do. The Frasier/Mackenzie's have all gone through total hell and yet the recurring message that I pick up from the show is that Love really does triumph given time.)
Wow me too lol I’m worse I’m only on season 1 😭

I'm on season 2 and I cheated.
@@ashleywright5505 I mean, 2 months later I'm caught up. It's weird in EUROPE, Netflix has season FOUR! In the US just season THREE!
Can we please talk about Jamie lack of reaction to a woman who has neither a Scottish or English accent like it's normal?
With 3/4 of emigrees that time being scottish +here were already well established anglo colonies in thefifth generation. Their langusges had blended and altered, having listened to Claire's alteredId Atlantic accent accent mid atlan+ic softer warmer than londoner, the transition would be acceptable my co?tention is sophies harvard. She uses a midwestern accent rather than bostonian hahvad. She is a fine actress but I had friends whose mothers were English and they all had two or three words that were purely anglo such as wotah, wownd for woond do r f
Mate his wife timetraveled from the future I'm not sure what Jamie's sense of normal is.
It's actually been theorized that the English that was spoken in the 18th century and earlier sounds more like the standard American we speak today. The traditional British/English accent we know today might actually be the result of the evolution of classism in Britain as well as possibly the desire to separate themselves from America in the aftermath of the American Rebellion.
@@amandajamison8650 that's fascinating!!!
@@TheClari25 It's also bollocks, the English of the time would have been harsher yes and accents among the elite certainly changed at a faster rate because of formal training in how to speak, much like how the trans-Atlantic accent in the 30s was artificially created. However, this had little to no effect on the many distinct accents of the lower classes (vast majority) of Britain. I mean what American accent is supposed to be more like "traditional english" Californian, New York, Southern ? and how did the massive influx of other European migrants (notably German) affect this less than English Elites trying to out do each other in a linguistic game of keeping up with the Jones's
Claire meets Jamie when he is basically dying and Brianna meets him when he is pissing.
Alrighty
Lmao
Bella A Claire met Jamie in a Print Shop and he fainted. They should have left telling her about Willie for later, where it was in the books.
How embarrassing to watch ones father going toilet
@@TheTwilighter26 a different time
@@mary.gcarpenter1490 that was their reunion. She met him while he was wounded and she popped his dislocated shoulder back.
I have two favorite all-time Outlander moments:
1) Jamie and Brianna's meeting and being together for the first time as father and daughter
2) Jamie and Claire's reunion in A Malcolm after 20 years apart
They blew the wonderful scene from the book at Lollybroch meeting her entire Fraser clan, reducing it to just Ian and Laoghaire. It would have been up there in my list of favorite scenes, but they totally blew it.
A distant third for is Bree meeting her mother again, later in the same episode -- also sweet beyond telling. But in the book, Bree quotes Monty Python which was on TV in her time, "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!" to her surprised mother, which I found absolutely hysterical and which totally flummoxes Jamie. But I can see why they may have left that out at least -- I bet many Gen Y and Z are no more familiar with it than Jamie. Diane Galbaldon is a boomer after all...
Caitlin Lopez And the wedding night...hellooooo... 😆
2. scene which was in the season and episode
I always get goosebumps when Brianna and Roger tell Claire that he survived the battle of Culloden ,that season finale tho 😍😍😍😍😍
@@o.5821 Oh yes, one of my favorite scenes is that one too. Claire's love for Jamie didn't die after 20 years.
Watching this scene alone makes one appreciate what an incredible actor Sam Heughan is. Watching his face when he’s starting to realize that Brianna is his daughter is a master class in acting.
1:12 "It's you!?" ... "It's me ... can't you tell?" ... "Aye, ... I can". This part wrecks me!
Uncanny. Jamie's tears start to hit when all of the rest of ours do.
I like the part in the book where Jamie says, "You're huge" and Brianna says, "Where do you think I got that from?"
I reunited with my daughter after we were separated for 16 years, on the street, in front of a coffee shop. What these two actors pulled off in that scene is as close to the real thing as they could ever hope to get. Well done!
What's especially moving is that Jamie FINALLY gets to be a true father by having Brianna there. After all the torture he endured, he gets one moment of true happiness. And even better, Brianna represents the love of Jamie and Claire that will live on. Still so sad that Jamie and Claire lost TWENTY YEARS together.
Just a fabulous scene! Sam's reaction as Jamie was perfect!
We need season 4 on Netflix please😪
Pretty please
We need season three!!
Just stream it.
I’m unaware of what streaming is?
All seasons are on Hulu with stars upgrade (free trial)
Where was he supposed to wash his hands??? The most moving scene in this episode and that’s all you got out of it?
Maria Sweeney YEP. But after that I lived the encounter. I’m a germaphobe. I wouldn’t survive. The smells during that time would be too much for me. I’ve been all over the world and it takes some getting used to the smells and habits so I use many many wipes.
i doubt they washed their hands so much back then
Yeah they didn't really wash their hands back then.
Hygiene didn't really become a common thing for another couple hundred years after this show is set
Maria Sweeney people got bath once per month at that time
He washed his hands when he wiped her tears away lol
It's IMPOSSIBLE to ignore the fact that he didn't wash his hands. This is where "period piece" meets "modern audience".
Not even remotely impossible. It's insignificant unless you're very, very young.
BrandonFlorida So washing your hands isn’t a thing for people older than 20? That is disgusting.
@@ducklingscap897 We wash our hands, but we aren't preoccupied with it.
I can't help but notice things like that lol, but then I'm slightly obsessed with hygiene.
Never even blipped my radar.
I think this is more beautiful and emotional than the reunion of Jamie and Claire in Season 3! :)
Brianna finally meets her birth father, who comes from another time and from whom she only had stories. Her mother told her she was similar in character and appearance to him :)
Beautiful scene ♥ ♥ ♥
I completely agree with you about the j/b meeting being better than the j/c reunion. I really disliked the unnecessary & untimely insertion of the enough-about-brianna-i-have-a-son-now scene. Way to ruin the moment. This scene makes up for it just a bit.
Yes. The reunión of Jamie and Claire was too cold. This one had much more emotion.
@@alliehamilton-calhoun162 it was much better in the books. Claire didnt find out about william till they reached the Caribbean
@@volo1826 Yes! Which is why I don't understand why they felt the need to shove him in her face 10 minutes after she returned!
I personally liked Claire and Jamie’s reunion and plus in their defense he fainted when he saw her
- "Dad"
- "Yes, darling"
- "Your hand"
- "The fatherly loving hands you've been thinking about?"
- "No, they smell like pee"
"Aye and so they do'
Jamie betrays confusion and Brianna disgust
She returns to the 1960s and ...
I hope you realise that men are perfectly capable of peeing without getting any on their hand and that touching the shaft of the penis is no less sanitizing than touching any other part of your skin. More if anything since the penis is usually protected from most earthly exposure.
@@ThatIcelandicDude It's a joke, sir :)
Lass, Lassie, Brianna, Lass, Lass, Lass
@@ThatIcelandicDude The real issue with washing your hands after you pee isn’t about getting P stuck on your hands. The real issue is the fact that there is lots of invisible fecal matter and fecal bacteria on your genitals. Basically, the area between the genitals and the anus gets wet very easily. That results in a fecal bacteria being transferred to the genitals. If you touch food without washing your hands first, the bacteria will end up getting in the food, multiply rapidly, and making people sick. So needing to wash your hands after you P has nothing to do with how responsible or careful you are when you’re peeing. It’s a simple fact that that area of your body has harmful bacteria that shouldn’t be transferred away from that area.
Diana Gabaldon thank you so much for this beautiful story. To the cast and crew thanks for bringing these characters to life and doing it in the most perfect way.

Im gonna be honest, without subtitles I can barely understand what he’s saying but the acting is so good I’m starting to tear up😢
I mean, seriously, Sam is such a brilliant actor
He doesn't win this year. It will be proof that Hollywood is still corrupt. He's just an amazing actor. It kills me that he's not recognized for his talent, and passed over because he so beautiful. I'll admit that he is very good looking, he is in excellent shape, he has amazing talent, and he has a heart the size of Alaska. He should win on talent alone the rest is a bonus to us. Love you Sam.
Lol of Alaska? Are you Alaskan? I am. His heart bigger than here.
Calling it corruption is a step too far. It’s a competitive category. I probably would have given him a nomination over Kit Harrington for the Emmy’s this past year, but other than that the results are very much justifiable. Matthew Rhys, Richard Madden, Billy Porter, and Sterling K Brown are all deserving winners.
When he said “dinna weep leannan“ my heart melted!❤ Jamie is adorable.🥺
Me going into this video: it's alright I'm not gonna cry
Brianna: It's me, can't you tell?
Me: *is on the floor surrounded by a pool of my own tears*
I watch this scene over and over....his overwhelming love of her comes through so strongly....and her falling into his arms weeping.... absolutely superb scene and acting by both of them

The scene I most wanted to see was this one. It didn’t disappoint. As a redhead lass of Scottish descent I just love Outlander.
There's just something about this SCENE!
The timing, the acting, the score, everything about it is just PERFECT!!!
Saw this scene as an Ad on RUclips and it was so powerful I had to watch the whole show just to get to this scene in season 4 episode 9, can you believe that!???
Same here! Lol I guess there are some exceptions to the "Skip Ad" button. Once I watched more of the show and grasped the whole context of this reunion, it became even more powerful of a scene.
@@matt-warssupreme6977 Yeah bro, this scene was just too good!
I'm addicted to this show. I hadn't even heard of it until a few months ago. Binge watched all 4 seasons. I became so curious to find out what happens next that I bought the series on audiobook. Amazing historical research by Diane Gabaldon. No wonder it takes her a few years to crank out another one. A true labor of love.
I can't watch it. I thought I was stronger, but the mention and doing of rape just makes me so ill. I know its accurate, but just seeing it or reading about it makes me so sick. I guess I have to try again and maybe just skip those parts! Because these clips I'm watching is making me fall in love with Jamie and claire.
Tellthetruth n/a I just binge watched 1-4 these past few weeks! Right on time for season 5! Cheers!
I first heard of Outlander from seeing this ad on one of the videos I was watching and I actually paused the ad and took screenshots of Brianna's capelet because I wanted to make one of my own 😂 So, then about 2 weeks later, I forgot about the screenshots I had taken and saw Outlander listed on Netflix, and it reminded me, so I went back to those screenshots, got out my crochet hook and some yarn, started crocheting, and decided to start Outlander. I had crocheted 2 capelets while I watched season 1. I watched seasons 1-3 in 5 consecutive days, and then a week later, got the Starz app since Netflix only has up to season 3, and finished seasons 4-5 in another 5 consecutive days. This show is by far the best show I have ever watched. I am so glad I discovered this show during lockdown! It has been wonderful! I am so emotionally invested in the storyline and go through so many tissues.
This scene means so much to me. I've never met my own father. He died when I was a kid and Outlander is the most beautiful story I've ever watched in my life
You will. No need to rush though. Either you believe stories of people that have passed and came back or you don't, they all say the same thing: someone is waiting for us to go near them
I could watch this scene a thousand times and never tire of it. Sam is amazing!

The first time I saw Outlander was from parts of this episode. I had nearly forgotten it, since it wasn't very important to me at the time. I finally binged the whole series and once again saw this episode, and I now felt the extreme emotions running through this scene. I hadn't realized how important it was before I had watched the entire series beforehand, but seeing them meet might possibly be my favorite scene yet. It's so heartfelt and sweet, and unlike many people, I hadn't thought of the fact that Jamie had went pee before and touched Bri's face. That wasn't important, it still isn't. This scene is packed with so much emotion, so none of that matters, and it's in the 18th century nonetheless. I look forward to the new season, and I plan on purchasing the book series and reading it all as well! I can only aspire to act as well as the actors and actresses do in this show. They are amazing at what they do.
Yeah, same here. I had only seen this scene a few years ago and it was forgettable. I then watched the whole thing this year and got to this scene without remembering beforehand. This scene works because of the buildup and the knowledge that both characters never thought they would meet and this was so unreal to both of them that these scene is awesome. Not taking away from the actors performances, but we get so invested in them with precious performances and that’s what made the scene.
I love the fact this scene doesnt just pan into their faces to see the expressions and then end the episode. The climactic soundtrack, emotional dialogue by Jaime and acting make this scene whole and it does not come off cheap. Brilliant.
I bawl my eyes out every time I see this clip! It should win an award for this scene alone!
His acting in this scene is soooooooooooooo good!
I never get why he acts like he's never seen her face before, he's seen pictures of her. Surely he would recognise her
This made sense for me due to the fact that the pics were of her in her own time and the fact that I'm guessing he just never would have imagined that she would show up in front of him... also he notes that despite the photos he always pictured her as a kid. But the fact that he says he can tell that she's his I think might be a reference to the photos he's already seen of her.
1. If he saw the photographs just once like a year ago, he probably wouldn't remember.
2. If your daughter lives in the future, you would automatically cancel out that she would be in the present even if she does look like your daughter. The odds she would travel to your time and find you in the Americas are extremely slim.
my guess is that he had seen pictures of her when she was a child... Now she's an adult... She looks the same age as him.
Some people look different from their pics. Especially someone from the future that you never expected to see.
It was so random and unexpected that it caught him completely off guard. Yes he saw the pictures but it is totally different to see pictures versus reality.
I think I already re-watch this episode a thousand times! 💕💕

My only question is, wouldn’t he have done at least a double take once he saw her face, having looked at pictures of her?

They didn't do that even in Medieval times.

The Romans back 2000 yrs before that had sewers, yet that particular achievement didn't spread to other civilizations til around the 1400s, except in parts of the Middle East it was in the 1300s. Even then the flush toilet didn't show up until 1596 by Sir John Harington in England (Kit Harington's great many times over grandfather). It's ridiculous!!

Dumping sewage out the window didn't even happen in the Middle Ages. So really, the whole 'they dumped their waste out the window' is really limited to the 18-19th centuries, and that's pushing it.

I was continuously thinking, he has seen her in pictures. How could he not recognize her?
Maybe because people somehow look different from pictures.

I LOVE Outlander, this is literally the best serial I've seen. I've watched first 4 seasons about three times, now I'm watching the 5th and it's still not enough. I'll finish season 5 and after some time I know that I will watch this all again. ♥
This is the best series I've seen in years! I'm retired and this is outstanding. Hoping for more seasons after season 5. Please please please. All my friends are talking about it. Keep it alive!!! Keep new seasons coming.

When your named after Brianna from Outlander, and Jamie makes you cry when he tells you not to weep, is there anyone else cutting onions or is it just me ?????
I have great news for the people upset by the pee hand..... he wasn’t actually peeing. It’s a tv show. 😂
