I absolutely love Doc's expression and his choice of words at 1:31. He's basically saying "Go on, call me a cheater out loud and try to do something about it." He knows that even when drunk, exhausted, and coughing up his lungs, he could still gun Ike down before he could so much as raise a gun. And he's just wishing Ike would try.
@@joeanthony419 I like your analysis.... Thirty six hours straight ... that's more like one and a half day straight Still impressive though, yet not impossible when you are "in you're prime " hehehe
what makes this so great is the fact that the actors actually allowed themselves to look beat. kilmer is pale and sweaty, and lang looks like he's warm, stinking and hadn't had a bath in months.
mariusz sabadasz actually Virgil Earp was both a deputy U.S. Marshal and a Tombstone Arizona City Marshal during events In tombstone after Fred White was killed. Earp was City Marshall at time he was shot and crippled for life by the cowboys. He left Tombstone for good and became town Sheriff when moved to California to recover from his wounds and be closer his parents after death of Morgan and Wyatt stayed back to finish off the Cowboys
mariusz sabadasz yea I was talking about real life and was said at end of movie that Virgil despite the use one of arm became a town sheriff as he lost of the use of his arm forever when was shot by shotgun blasts. Yes Ike Clanton shot and killed off his horse during robbery and a town Marshall killed him after giving chase. Ike Clanton was killed in 1887 years after events in Tombstone most of Cowboys all dead by then and Clanton and last few Cowboys were finished off. After Clanton was killed it the end of Cowboys but they were pretty done for after Wyatt and Doc along with their men took out Curly Bill and over a dozen cowboys during vendetta ride in 1882
Someone had to Doc was so wasted by the time he cleaned up that you could have paid him in eggplants So Kate always made sure they got what they won not to mention she was basically his well paid Prosty
I love how Wyatt tries to talk doc out of going on but stops when doc says I will not be pawed at it truly shows how much Wyatt knows his friend. That’s also probably not the first time Wyatt and Morgan have had to carry doc out of a bar.
Such a great movie with a great script and more important it was cast so very well. The star of the movie was certainly Doc Holiday who stole the show but also made everyone else's role so much better.. One of my all time favorites for sure...
didn't make sense Tombstone was already in production and they rushed Costner's movie, bad on the studio part .. could have used the talent for another western and story
I always liked Virgil of all the Earps I feel I can relate to him the most both have a strong sense of justice and protecting the innocent never a better lawman than Virgil Earp RIP
Like someone truly drunk, Doc takes a second to realize he's been touched, then smoothly declares, "I will not be pawed at, thank you very much." It's a fucking acting clinic.
36 hours straight of how many hours straight of being drunk and he still wins 12 hands straight. And if he is cheating and still wins while drunk that just makes him more badass
Thirty six hours straight, that's like a day and a half, pretty impressive yet not impossible when you are "in you're prime " hehehe For like a few years this one of my favorite movie
“I know, let’s have a spelling contest!” Doc was such a troll🤣🤣🤣
That part always gets me lol
Most sober people can’t speak as well as Doc on a bender.
Yeah but it's Docs"Ooops" that sets it all up
The way he is laughing in the background at 1:49 as Ike loses his temper and has to be restrained by others makes it even more hilarious.
I love how the mood in Tombstone is super tense right now and Doc is enjoying the hell out of himself hahaha.
I like how the guy saves the bottle from rolling off the table so casually at 2:07
Whats sad, is if that wasn't a five time take and instead a first hand, he'd be one of the best in the west legitimately.
shut the fuk up

part of that.

Burt Reynolds' too.

What a fantastic performance from Val Kilmer.
Val Kilmer said one of the hardest things was acting drunk. His solution? Be half in the bag when filming. He was actually intoxicated in this scene.

As others have said, Steven Lang is off the charts. He really gets into his character. I believe that he's Ike Clanton.
