    So, a 50cc and 60cc Husvarna Vs a 70cc and 80cc Stihls. Results are pretty poor for Stihl, either the same time, or barely faster, than the smaller husqvarna saws.

    Any thoughts on which is easier to maintain or more reliable? And and does one saw last significantly longer?

    • @theGGx4
      @theGGx4 3 месяца назад

      I am a professional arborist. The answer is very simple. It depends to the operator. Sthil need less maintenance, works at low revs and it is really hard to control the power of the low rpm, this is but anybody can cut with still. Husqvarna is for pros, needs more maintenance, it works at almost double the revs, this means that you have got the high rpm power which can make more precise cuts, but to work with Husqvarna at the peek performance you need to know how to work with a chainsaw. If you don't know, you will say that Husqvarna is. shit. I am working everyday day removing/pruning big trees and all mai chainsaws are Husqvarna.

    • @theGGx4
      @theGGx4 3 месяца назад

      But if you don't know how to make a good maintenance, and you don't respect the gas/oil ratio, or for exemple you use red oil to Husqvarna, every chainsaw will last maximum 1 year

    Here's the dish...either brand of saw is good and you won't go wrong either way. It's subjective and personal preference. I have a Stihl MS261-C that performs optimally and starts second or third pull every time. Plenty of power too. I am now looking to purchase a larger saw that will handle a 24" bar. I'm looking at the Husqvarna 460, but it's not a professional saw. I prefer a magnesium construction and not plastic, so I'm hoping to find a 61 (older model) or an 034 Stihl. I don't want to get anything bigger. I'm getting too old and tired to slog a great big saw.
    At any rate, the comparison between models in the video is miniscule. Just get a saw that is well constructed from quality components and not cheap ass plastic. A cheap man pays twice.

      I run an MS 260 Pro with a 32 inch bar. I run a semi skip chain to reduce the chain drag when I'm cutting bigger wood, but the main reason for the long bar is so I don't have to bend over.

    One of the major influential factors in the speed/performance of a chainsaw is the chain 'pitch'. The pitch of a chain is determined by the depth that the blades are allowed to cut provided for by the depth gauge. The two husq saws in this test are running .325 pitch chains, whereas the stihls are running 3/8. The 3/8 chain pitch allows for deeper cuts for each cutter.
    I run a husqvarna 572 xp which is designed for a chain with a 3/8 pitch and it competes well with the heavier stihls.

    • @kbittorf335
      @kbittorf335 5 месяцев назад +3

      That SP33G chain is narrow kerf in .325 pitch which provides faster cutting compared to regular kerf. The MS400 is the only one using full chisel in 3/8‘s and the 500i has semi-chisel which typically cuts slower but stays sharper longer in dirty cutting environments. Whether 325 or 3/8 the depth of cut is determined by the height of the depth gauge which is typically .025“ below the top plate here. Some set it lower for soft woods and/or change the top plate angle to 35 degrees instead of 30. So the 3/8 pitch will have a wider kerf than .325 but will typically cut the same depth.

    • @clintbliss2046
      @clintbliss2046 3 месяца назад +2

      Pitch has nothing to do with cut depth. Pitch is length between links and therefore the driver's to mesh with the sprockets. 3/8ths chain is heavier duty for high powered saws. 325 has a slightly narrower cutter so less drag tho. Depth of cut is determined by raker height.

    • @ffffffff-vv7yp
      @ffffffff-vv7yp 3 месяца назад +4

      I think this test is only meant to demonstrate these are all pretty much the same practical performance wise if you wanted to buck reasonably sized logs. Obviously they are different and he's not even trying to balance this by using the same bar and chain setup etc. The point to be made here is they are all superb tools.
      The different chains and details in how he filed them would make a difference. So does bar length, chain tension adjustment, cylinder temperature when starting the cut, and lots of stuff. Even technique given just one recorded attempt doing those three cuts. First and foremost how the saws were maintained and regarding trad carbs how well or even how aggressively they were tuned. Even then it's just about the same for the given use scenario unless one fubars really bad.
