    Good demonstration and explanation, we have lots of birches here in Scotland. There is one very big old tree near near me which is is totally hollow up to about 2.5m, but still seems to be strong enough not to fall, even in big storms. It is leaning towards the river so it will not be a problem when it does fall, unless there is an unlucky canoeist passing by.

    2:25 маэстро! наконец я увидел что верёвка с лебедкой натянуты не прямо по траектории падения дерева, а натянуто немного в сторону

    You make good use of the felling tongs and the block-and-tackle setup. Having difficulty finding felling tongs. Any suggestions.

    Good tip on reading the sawdust! Could you please tell us the make and model of your felling tongs and extending pole? Also, how long of chain do you have on your Kito winch. Thanks in advance

    On the tree that barber-chaired. The first trunk you made a very deep face cut and on the second that barber-chaired you made a shallow face cut. Did you do this because of where you thought rot vs good wood was so the hinge would be as strong as possible?

    generally, I made a deeper face cut, thin hinge...........why do you shave the SIDES of the tree ?

    • @mfren6253
      @mfren6253 28 дней назад

      Too wide of a hinge can cause a barber chair. Poor location of the hinge can cause a barber chair. A heavy leaning tree combined with a slow and shallow backcut can cause a barber chair. Pulling too much on a tree, with a line, can cause a barber chair. A barber chair is a nightmare. It can kill you.
      Shaving the sides of the holding wood at the hinge will reduce the control of direction. A Dutchman is more possible. That’s only necessary when the base, or trunk, is severely flared. Learn how to cut a proper undercut (face cut?) and backcut so you can avoid shaving the sides. IMO, that is a bad habit.
      It is the responsibility of the faller to inform spectators of the dangers to them, and yourself, if they get too close. 2 tree lengths is a safe distance. You’re too busy to be watching out for others. Ask them to move away and explain the risks to you and them.
      Your PPE looks very good 👍🏻 😊

    Ano, takhle má vypadat video. Když je namluveno v cizí řeči, pak je text v češtině a je toto video pro každého srozumitelné, ne tak jak ta videa provenience z British Columbia, kterým nikdo pořádně nerozumí, protože většina lidí neumí anglicky tak, aby mluvené angličtině perfektně rozuměla.

    I would respectably disagree this was an accident. It seems you knew it was a choice between a weak hinge and uncontrolled fall or a thick hinge and possible barber chair. I would choose the barber chair
