And they could have at least said they'd help in some ways, that's the least they could have done. But they didn't. SHAME ON those three: Andrew, Naomi, and Janine! ... Then, who expected the black sheep Steve to kick in? Well, HE did! And John goes in too. Both are amazing... As a Mom with a Special Needs Son they would definitely have my business. I have been discriminated against by daycare places because they didn’t want to bother. It broke my heart and the owner had a disability of her own.

    • @trssho91
      @trssho91 3 года назад +5

      I am in the US and I have a special needs son. I have had similar experiences as you. It’s not just how our families are discriminated against, but it’s the horrible things said and behaviors of these businesses that don’t want us. At least where I am, you can expect pay 2x or 3x as much if you can find child care. It should be criminal how CHILDREN are being treated, I’m glad people like these women are doing what they are. We were never able to find a daycare business that would accept us or one I felt wouldn’t mistreat my son, we ended up finding a private babysitter instead.

    • @chloecamp8714
      @chloecamp8714 3 года назад +2

      I highly doubt it's that people don't "want to bother". When it comes to disabled children you need a lot more credentials than just CPR. It costs a lot more to pay someone. The daycare basically needs 1 adult for just your child.... Have you looked at how little profit is in daycare? On top of them basically having to give up half their pay to care for your child, if not more. Having a special needs child would require at least 2k to get a proper contract drawn up to avoid a lawsuit, by you, after you choose to leave your child in a day care that isn't a 1-1 ratio. I'm not saying this to be mean, but with medical tech, it was 100% your decision to take on the care of a person with a disability. You can't be mad that a world isn't bending to accommodate a small chunk of people & taking on the cost to do so. If you can't afford to take your child to a baby sitter that specializes in it, what makes you think a small day care can do that & cover all the costs to legally protect themselves when you choose to leave your child in a typical 3-1 daycare & your child who doesn't comprehend does something like smash a window & cut themselves? Or you decide they don't get enough attention knowing there's 4 caregivers per child & try to suit them for not delivering service? I know it's hard... But deciding it's the responsibility of other people to take on the cost & redesign their business is silly.

      I'm not sure what state you live in but we in the Austin Texas area have a place called WBCO. They have a program called Headstart. Now this program is used by children without disabilities however they take children with disabilities before without. Yes they do fill their spot's but first for children with needs. Both my boy's had disabilities however they was not physical needs they was mental health needs. And yes my children was difficult. But they was so great for my boy's. By the time my boy's got to K they wanted to bump them up to 2nd grade I said NO. The only reason they was ahead was because this place taught my boy's instead of babysitting them. By the time they got to 2nd grade they was on level. This program cost me nothing. Both my boy's did it for free and it allowed me to work to pay our bills.... While knowing that my boy's was safe and in great hands. I am not sure if they have something like this by you but it's worth looking into.

    • @Fred-rg5vw
      @Fred-rg5vw Месяц назад

      It comes down to money / staffing.
      I am a parent of a special needs child and understand where these other parents are coming from.
      The ratio of staff to kids had to be a lot higher with special.needs kids depending on their specific needs / disabilities.
      There are also other considerations; activities designed for them by someone who knows what they are doing, more safety considerations generally. .
      This all means more cost for the business so they either have to charge a lot more or not accept kids that require more attention.
      We've recently found a program for holidays and after school that is close to home and govt funded
      So very affordable.
      I am in Victoria, Australia

      while this video is quite heartwarming, that's exactly what I was thinking. Or if it's not done by (hopefully) well-funded NGOs, it should be provided by the public sector. It gives me strong late-capitalism vibes that people would have to pay 50 dollars a day just so they can send their special-needs child to nursery school. These parents should have the same easy access to childcare services as parents who were lucky enough to have healthy children.

    Many, many years ago my former business partner & I donated money & our time to a similar type of business. We just wanted to help out someone or something in need from our abundance. At the time they were going broke & it was due to some honest business model mistakes - their vision was great & clear. Once we started & discovered where we could help, we went all in & donated a considerable amount of money & our expertise to help them sail on a straighter course.
    Our goal was simple, use our gifts so to speak & remain completely out of any limelight, just help. Years later we handed the reins to someone else who took the ball & helped do great things. I has since essentially forgot about it since it as I hadn’t been involved in years then, I ran into one of the founders who profusely thanked me (the both of us) which blew me away.
    Point being, when you plant seeds, water & see the first crops bear fruit, you have no idea how much fruit gets produced from those initial seeds. In other words, do something worthwhile & never look at it as to what you can tangibly get from it because then it ceases to have real value.

Good luck ladies. Make those kids’ life great. I am already searching google for Humming Birds and see if there is way to contribute. My heart is with you. From US.

    In my teens I volunteered taking care of disabled children mainly aged between 12-17, taking them on day trips to the zoo, etc. We would even go camping once a year for a week or so, it was so much fun. They make you a better person, they make you look at the world in a brighter light, you end up living life in a mentally healthier way, and they were so much fun, they were not just kids I looked after, but my friends. I would have continued for decades but unfortunately I had my own major health problems and it has added to the already different outlook on life... and death, I had, in yet a different way. You never stop learning, and there is no where else I could have learnt what I learnt with those kids anywhere else. They are a blessing in disguise, a gift.

    I really hope they’ll be able to expand. There’s so much need out there, and it’s a win-win for parents and children. The kids’ benefits are obvious, and the parents have not only the peace and confidence that their child is being actively engaged, but they get a respite from their normally 24/7, 365 job as a career for a special needs child. I don’t think they’d be able to take on children with behavioral difficulties, though, as that usually requires a one-on-one situation.

      Maybe they just have a good social conscience. Also, they're all incredibly financially successful so it's not like they're risking everything to do something really good and desperately needed for kids with special needs. They're all parents so of course it's pulling at their heart strings. Not everyone is as cynical as you.

I do want to know what training the teachers would require and medical knowledge as well.
