I believe this is one of the most perfect sets ever put together
Did anyone mention how good the guitarist is? His chords are always spot on! (not to mention his awesome sense of rythm too).
and he doesn't get in the way. it's like he's just polishing the boards.
i was just thinking that
He doesn't shy away from the diminished chords when hey fit!
I did, I shared it with my guitarist who could use some help doing more than cowboy chords.
I was one week on Prince Edward Island too early to catch Troy MacGillivray this summer. I need to time my vacations better haha!
These sets seem very well thought out, it really shows mastery not only as a player, but as a listener of Celtic music.
Outstanding, truly outstanding 👍
Stunning music, wow what Music us Celtic Nations can give to the rest of the World. Keep it up ye are so so wonderful thanks for keeping it alive
The Scottish name for the first march is The Headlands.
Nice to see Road to Errogie played in the original B mixolydian key.
Great guitar Jake, fair play !! lovely chords, almost a jazz fusion at times in the 3rd song, so refreshing and imaginative.
(Denmark) Lovely Music. Technically high quality 🎻🎶🌹🌹🌹
Sorry for commenting again but this is the Best trad session I've ever looked in on Wow,Wow keep beltin out those incredible tunes Thanks lads
Awww thanks so much!!! So glad you like it. :)
STUNNING
Headlands by Ronald Cooper from Shetland
So catchy and amazing! Wow!
So lovely, i was sad and then this song came along on my playlist, made smile so much... Wish i could see Caitlin playing her fiddle in Portugal, please come bless us with your talent!
I would LOVE to come play in Portugal! I traveled to Portugal last year for the first time and absolutely loved it. If you have any particular festivals that you like and think might be good to get in contact with, do let me know! :)
@@caitlinwarbelowalso Thank you for your reply, actually i do think there is one festival where you could play, its called "Festival de Músicas do Mundo" in Sines, Alentejo Litoral. Its a festival about musics of the world, it hosts all sorts of music styles, from a more classical genre, to jazz, rock, indie, irish, rock and etc... I honestly think you could play there easily :) Let me know if you get booked anywhere near here!
@@derkinvilde Thank you so much! I will check this out and see what I can do...
Hermoso!
Cool video I like music
The pretty girl milking the cow - fantastic!!
Wicked!!! :D
All these videos from Glucksman Ireland House, 2012 should be made into a CD / DVD combo. Just superb. And you all work so well together.
Any chance the five of you will do a Glucksman Ireland House, 2018 concert?
Hey Noel! Your message made my day - thank you! That's a great idea....as always it's about time and money (or the lack thereof, heh)...but I'll keep the idea in my idea list and maybe it will happen someday. :)
Would love to do another concert with this lineup! (See note above about time and money!!) Troy and Jake live in Canada so we don't get to play together too often, but I'd love to make this happen again down the road.
I've got a CD coming out in April - hopefully you'll find that a good placeholder until this group gets together again. Thanks for your support!
Hello! I have been checking in every now and then on your Web Site to see if there are any announcements about your new album, but do not see any. Would love to hear a sampler and get some more info.
Also, I'm curious if you have ever played with a concertina. I only ask as I play the concertina and have interest in this.
Hey Noel - thank you so much for checking in. Unfortunately I have too few hours in the day to get everything done and so neither the website nor the CD are done! But the CD is just getting ready to go to the printers, so will be done before this summer. I'll try to keep you updated!
Yes, I have played with many excellent concertina players and have attempted to play concertina myself. Excellent instrument.
Headlands is the first March. I presume its Scottish, it's certainly played here, often with Lochanside.
It's a Shetland tune.
If he played the basic required chords, it would still be just as good. It's Jakes rhythm that makes this overflow with life.
his comping is the combination of both that i think deserves praise although i enjoy hearing these unique harmonies work in traditional irish music i think it breathes fresh air to it edit comping is what they call in jazz short for accompanying
This is really nicely done. Shame it was a one off but at least we have this video to watch! Agree with other comments that if there was a CD of this I would be in the queue. The other videos in the set are pretty tasty, too.
Hey! Thanks for this comment, it made my day. I've actually got a CD coming out in the next few months...similar music, with a few more layers. Keep an eye out for it, I hope you might like it as much as you like this!
Are you guys still touring? Would love to see you live!
Hey! We don't tour as this group per se, but we all perform in various combinations in various places. I currently play on the Broadway show Come From Away - if you are in NYC you should come see that! Troy tours pretty extensively as well, you can check out his website at www.troymacgillivray.com. My website is under construction at the moment. :( But when it's back up you can check the schedule there.
@@caitlinwarbelowalso thanks so much for the info. I live in GA, so probably wont be able to see you in NY any time soon and it doesn't look like Troy has any tour dates in the South. I'll keep any eye out in any case and jump at the chance if I ever get it.
Aren't they from Cape Breton by any chance?
+Sylvain Lemieux Hi Sylvain! Troy is from Cape Breton, Jake is from Toronto, and I'm from Alaska but I live in NYC.
Troy is actually from Antigonish. Lanark, on the mainland.
