Early 2000's theatres, there was always a dude in their 40's who would yell "Aww, God dammit!" the moment the logo sequence started. He knew what was coming.

I'm not afraid of it. In fact, i'm in love with it so much, that sometimes i browse around RUclips to find *"The perfect deep note."*
I know I'm going way back, but does anyone here remember when you wait to the very end of vhs tapes when the credits end there is just a blank static silence that goes on until the tape ends. I waited to long as a kid to take the tape out, and the amount of emptiness it made me feel freaked me out.

I knew the THX technology was from Lucasfilm and even named after George Lucas’ first film THX-1138.
I like to imagine that sound as the full power of The Force.
It always reminded me of the older Disney films, and also Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

What’s weird for me is that I love the hell out of the sound, however when I was younger I would occasionally have nightmares. Nowadays they’re rare and when I do get them the deep note gets so loud I wake up. Maybe it’s my brother who I woke up with the logo holding his phone to my ear with the volume at the max but who knows lmao
I used to be afraid of the THX logo when I was a kid, what is time went by, I actually got used to it and it’s now one of my favorite logos to this day.

I was scared of the sound more than the logo, it was so dog gone loud that whenever it started to crescendo, I would run away and hide. Mostly, behind the couch until the crescendo finished.

I think that’s the thing that scared me the most…that slow, creepy crescendo into that loud blaring note.
Luckily I had a blanket with me to cover my ears.
I’m still scared of both the sound and logo to this day. I have Asperger’s and every time I hear this sound I have to cover my ears. Or mute my TV or fast forward through it during the 90s. As a kid I hated going to the movie theater cause I’d get so scared and I’d cry and my mom and dad would have to take me out of the theatre for a few minutes so I could calm down. But the moment I realized that I had THXphobia was when my parents took us to a furniture store during the evening. Me and my siblings were sent to the play area to watch a movie while my parents looked around. The employees popped in a VHS tape of The Wizard of Oz and turned off the lights all I remember was the tape being put in, the room being pitch black, and the first thing I heard was that sound and the first thing I saw was that logo. It was super scary. For me THX is a sensory thing. But thank you for making this video I enjoyed watching it.
So that's why I was constantly afraid of it as a kid! It was over stimulating!
Yeah, I saw the THX logo at IKEA as well, but I didn't cry or anything. But it did increase my heart rate.

My brother was terrified of the THX logo as a kid, I wasn’t though. As kids, my brother and I would put a VHS tape like Lady and the Tramp or Melody Time in and turn up the volume really loud and we’d run away from it.😂
That Lady and the Tramp 1998 VHS had the flash bang feature presentation on it and I remember being scared of that as was my brother but we’ve since gotten over that.

Great video. As for if I was scared of the THX Logo or jingle... I wasn't probably because my grandma often bought me DVDs of movies with that logo. The first one I can think of is either Wall-E or Finding Nemo. But yeah, grew up listening to it so I wasn't scared of it.

New subscriber here! I used to be afraid of the PBS logos, not the ones that they used on their kids shows, but the ones that were used on their other TV shows from 1984-1998. I hadn't seen the 1971-1984 PBS logo until years later & I am sure that I probably would have been afraid of it had I seen it when I was little.

I was born in October 14th 1996 in Atlantic Canada and I remember seeing the THX trailers in the Movieland theaters in Atlantic Canada and that's why that I experienced the biggest sound ever because I really really really love THX so much

And that Tex logo did jump me a bit
I remember also watching Bambi on vhs and that is when I got introduced to the broadway version and it was much higher pitched
It did scare me a little bit
But soon got over it
And now I love the deep note I’m so fascinated by how they made the sound and the history behind the company as well so everytime I go to a theatre and hear the Sound I can thank George Lucas and his crew for improving the sound of movies in theaters seriously if it weren’t for THX the sound of theatre speakers wouldn’t be what they are today so I love THX And I hope the company continues to grow for years to come

There's a glorious irony to being a jumpy autistic kid easily overstimulated by loud sounds, who nonetheless thought the Deep Note was awesome. I think it helped that the idea was planted into my mind that it was an electronic version of an orchestra tuning up. Goodness knows, the suspense of the glissando was pretty intimidating, but that final chord was so goddamn satisfying every time. It's still one of my favourite digitally generated sounds.
Disney used thx on their DVDs and VHS. Disney vhs 1997-2005 and Disney dvd 1999-2006. Bambi 1997 vhs was the first Disney vhs to use the thx logo the last disney vhs was Bambi 2005 vhs Bambi THX Certified Print Logo. Pinocchio 1999 dvd was the Disney dvd to use the thx logo. Cars 2006 dvd was the last disney dvd and film to use the thx logo.

I have a DIY home studio back in 2017 and I like it and have THX sound speakers and also I have a Dolby Digital system and a Dolby stereo system that I just had to use a board screen for my DIY home studio

It is refreshing to hear someone maturely tell a personal story about THX, rather than talking about it in a Nostalgia Critic style. God, I hate the Nostalgia Critic and his style which are both disgraces to both RUclips and the realm of film criticism. But I digress. I was never scared of the THX Deep Note, I did not care much for it at first, but it really grew on me. The only thing that scares me about THX is the Nostalgia Critic-style reactions to it, which said style is an unwelcome cancer on RUclips that should be purged as soon as possible.
