He almost lost himself, but once he released all that negative emotion onto the serial killer- He's able to find himself again, remember who he is, and let go of the obsession that almost led him to beat the serial killer to death.

Yes and I always thought that vice was a narcotics unit going after high end drug dealers, but some episodes turned out to be homicide cases. It was still an awesome cop drama series. Definitely the best of the 1980s.

Crockett going for two days without sleep in order to get inside the home invader's head was a bit scary, including the way he reacted when Castillo wanted him off the case, which, under normal circumstances, would only have resulted in a bit of grumbling, but nearly led to a meltdown. The meeting with the police commissioner was a bit intense. I loved the part where Castillo told Tubbs to stay with Crockett as long as possible and he didn't want him on the street in his condition.
That's the direction they should have been heading towards in seasons 4 and 5 - mystery, unsolved cases, serial murders etc. Unsolved Mysteries kind of vibe.
Whoever was responsible for the HORRIBLE decision to cut Sonny’s mullet off, truly is the thing of nightmares. Here’s hoping that person, along with the show’s hair stylist, was unceremoniously let go. I bet Paul Mitchell had a panic attack after seeing this.
