It also ensures that UNLIMITED democracy always fails as it plants the seeds of its own destruction. What the people want and what the state needs tend to be contradictory at best. It is best to ensure that those who have voting power KNOW the power they wield and the consequences they wrought. These were treasonous thoughts of the highest order. Many of the clones also didn't want to face the truth that they would have to betray their fellow soldiers. @@fivemagics18 how though? Clones arent just humans. They were on Kamino for 90% of their lives, as Jango himself once said:
-They either grow up loyal, or dont grow up at all.
Not to mention that regular clones (so about 98% of GAR) were genetically enchanced to be less independent and more obedient to their masters, no friendship or attachments were made with their generals either because they've swapped each other so fast, or because their generals were treating clones just like meat droids and expandable cannon fodder and knew little to no tactics, very rare jedi knew how to command on battlefield like General Kota who was General and only then master jedi, and he didnt even trusted clone army and got his own militia. Kind generals were also rare, at the point of Kenobi and kind of Anakin being an exception to the rule. Very few clones had friends among Generals, not to mention the fact that entire regiment just couldnt attach to one person that deep that they would resist years of teachings and republic propoganda, not to mention that if they desert and betray the Chancellor like that, they will be eliminated by their own brothers or even Covert Ops clones.

"But no one said a word"
As if in a trance, the clones *could not* disobey their orders. They had become like mindless slaves. Unwilling servants of the empire. Even if they thought that what they were doing was wrong, they couldn't fight the control over them. For that brief moment of time, they had become like the droids they once fought.

This is general christopher of the UNSC to general kenobi and many survivors of order 66 we are here to fight the Empire of what they did to the republic and the jedi order and help the Rebel alliance to restore the republic.
For centuries, coursant stood as a beacon of hope in the Republic. But the Empire came, and with one savage strike, brought Alderaan to her destruction Now, time is running out as few are left to face the enemy. For those that remain, there is but one choice. We must fight-to victory, or death-for the Republic! and the rebel alliance […] While the sacrifices are heavy, we fight knowing that a single spark of courage can ignite the fires of hope, and restore peace across the galaxy.

Even though this audio was made prior to the Inhibitor Chips being canon, I still feel like this line of dialogue could work. As we saw in The Clone Wars, once the chips were activated, the Clones forgo all previous relationships and bonds they had with the Jedi. The friendships. the loyalty, the sacrifices. All forgotten because of a simple chip. And when the chips were introduced in Season 6, Tup and Fives mention the nightmares they had. On a subconscious level, the Clones knew what was about to happen. That Palpatine would order them to execute Order 66 and eradicate the Jedi from treason. And the worst part is? They couldn't do anything to stop it. They knew it would happen, but something prevented them from warning the Jedi. And when it did happen, the chips override the Clones and turned them into organic droids, loyal only to Palpatine.
"It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen. What we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant. Not when Order 66 came down. And not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word."
Even without the chips, it's clear that the Clones felt uneasy about what they were about to do. Which makes it even more tragic. Even when this clone talks about how the Empire will bring peace to the galaxy now that the traitorous Jedi are gone, with the context of the current canon, this could be the chip talking, not the clone. The chips make it seem like the Clones chose to execute Order 66 willingly. But, we know that's not the case. And, even they know it's not the case. Clones like Rex and Wrecker tried to resist the chip, and even when they were controlled, they didn't want to go through with their orders, but had no choice. That's the scary part. They still witnessed the atrocities they've caused, and they know they can't stop themselves. Their minds are still there, but the chip has taken away their free will, which is even more tragic.
I know some fans see it as a cop out to have the Clones be forced to commit Order 66 rather than doing it willingly, simply so they aren't seen as the bad guys because they have no choice in the matter. But, that's why the chips controlling them works. Palpatine wants total controll over the galaxy. By stripping the Clones of that choice and free will, it's turning them into victims in this conflict, too, just like the Jedi. Tools to be used by Sidious, only to be disposed of after they served their purpose. And though there might be Clones who would've executed Order 66 willingly like Slick or Dogma, Palpatine was not gonna risk it. The Clones grew independent because of the Jedi. They had their own names, identities, unique armor, different hair styles, and even had doubts about the war. Even thought the Kamanoians created them to follow orders without question, they're still human. And "programming" can be evolved.
I love how the animated shows made the Clones feel like individuals who just happened to have the same face, instead of emotionless orgainc droids who follow programming and orders without question. The Clone Wars did what the movies didn't. It humanized the Clones and made them feel like actual characters, not a cool plot device of little relevance. Their bonds with the Jedi made them realize they aren't just disposal, unthinking droids. They're men. They trust them to make the right decisions, especially when the orders they're given are wrong.
And while I love how the animated side showed us Order 66 through the perspective of the Clones, I hope we see it from the live action side, too. Even though The Clone Wars is canon, I'd love to see live action Clones played by Temuera Morrison talked about Order 66 from their perspective. Clones who executed the order, chips who managed to remove their chips, and especially Clones who have dealt with the trauma and heartbreak because of their actions after serving the Empire, and were cast aside like garbage. Maybe a live action Rex in a Disney+ series, or the return of live action Cody. Maybe Wolffe or Gregor prior to their appearances in Rebels. Either way, I hope we get more scenes from Clones who talked about Order 66 from their POV. Maybe even make this line canon somehow. Cause even with the chips, this line fits perfectly in canon.

“Did we have any doubts. Any private traitorous thoughts. Perhaps but no one said a word.”
Without the chips you see a clone that knew the whole time and now feels guilty. With the chips you see a clone like Rex that didn’t want to do it loved the Jedi but couldn’t stop the chip and worst of all he was forced to endure it all without being able to stop it. Either way you spin this scene it works and I love it.

That they voluntarily had to put aside their feelings for following orders, not that they were forced to follow orders.

    • @jackhummer8344

I think this monologue still works, since the clones likely still thought they had a choice. Their inhibitor chips made them think that the Jedi were indeed traitors who betrayed them and not the other way around. The clones are unaware that they were forced to betray their Jedi generals, forced to kill the people they had served with for years. From their point of view, executing Order 66 was them just doing their duty.

The Jedi did try to overthrow the chancellor and GAR Contingency Order 66 states that "In the event of Jedi officers acting against the interests of the Republic, and after receiving specific orders verified as coming directly from the Supreme Commander (Chancellor), GAR commanders will remove those officers by lethal force, and command of the GAR will revert to the Supreme Commander (Chancellor) until a new command structure is established."
It's just before it had the Clones actively make the choice and if they would fall back on their 11+ years of conditioning and brainwashing or if they could "break free" from it and their programming, which some clones did both before and after Order 66. Now in Canon it's just "Chip activated, beep boop kill Jedi".

Do you think the clones had some subconscious idea of WHEN order 66 was to happen? I mean, they had DREAMS about order 66.

    • @RequiemPoete

Order 66 was not confidential. The Jedi knew about it most likely. And approved of it, thinking an order to eliminate a rouge Jedi council as a good fail safe if the Jedi turned from their ways. No one knew about the chips that would force the clones to obey an illegal use of it.

    • @shoeman6966

@RequiemPoete a couple of things. Wookipedia identifies order 66 as a “top secret order.” Also, when fives was conducting his investigation of the chips, and showed his evidence of a normal inhibitor chip and tup’s activated one to Shaak ti, nala se defended the chip by saying it was put in the clones to stop them from becoming aggressive. Why would nala se tell a partial lie if the knowledge of order 66 wasn’t confidential? Also, palpatine states that the “true nature of the chips mustn’t be discovered by the Jedi,” suggesting that the Jedi had no idea about order 66. Now let’s analyze tups killing of master tiplar. After he killed her, nala se and palpatine blamed it on a virus. Why would shaak ti not argue with that if she, being a council member, had knowledge of order 66. It doesn’t add up. I don’t think the Jedi had any idea of the order. Plus, when you think about it, does an order calling all Jedi traitors and making them subject to execution sound like something that would sit well with windu and yoda? Definitely not. Finally, if the Jedi actually had knowledge of the inhibitor chips and the protocols within them, they would have also executed order 65 on the clones.

What happened to the clones eventually

    • @christophersanchez7731
      @christophersanchez7731 4 года назад +2

In legends they were the first gen Stromtroopers, and eventually more clone templates were created, combined with human recruits, making the Imperial Army and Navy infinite
In Canon, Palpatine quickly phased out the Clones with human recruits, making Stormtroopers entirely human
Some of the remaining clones became Purge Troopers in the Inquisitiors personal army to help hunt Jedi to fulfill Order 66, If any remained they eventually died out over the years as they age twice as fast as humans, and the Empire didn’t order anymore clones
