Like many other watch fans I enjoy the Khaki Field Auto. Its a very solid sports watch. Hamilton has now released the 38mm size in titanium. In this video we take a quick look at the most versatile color iteration.
Brent Miller is an excellent AD with a good selection, and great customer service. Highly recommended:

I have the older version with the steel bezel (wish it were titanium too). It is by far my most-used watch because it’s so versatile. It’s taken a beating over the years including falling in the pool by accident and still ticks like new. Very accurate and the 80 hour power reserve is great. I finally replaced the original strap with a new leather one. Timeless design.
I love my Hamilton. I have the Black on Black Khaki King and put it on a FKM strap. So comfortable. The only downside, as Bruce said, is the lack of AR. But I've gotten used to it.
I definitely like the olive drab green dial that you like the best as well. Perfectly fits the field theme and... Well, it's just a beautiful shade of green.
Nice looking piece, thanks Bruce
Glad to see Hamilton upgrading the Khaki field. Although not perfect, they did a great job. Imagine if they came out with the stark white dial in titanium! I think it would be a banger!
I hope they should put out a 38mm blue dial. I do love green dials & like the unique sage/sand green colour, but DAMN that blue looks fantastic! Very "Orient Express-y" vibe
Its a Khaki Field, a Titanium anf an under $1000. Man im sold.
My opinion as a watch enthusiast is that is out of its price range. No AR coating? This would be a great opportunity to fix that issue. As always an honest review from my favorite and first watch channel. My “gateway “ to appreciate timepieces
The lume is not up to scratch either.
Can you explain how it’s out of its price range? Outside of micro brands I think you would be hard pressed to find an automatic watch, with the heritage of Hamilton, in a titanium case at this price point
Rolex doesn't AR coat either.
@superfast30 but Rolex is lazy and doesn't care about watch enthusiasts
@99Noodles wow that's inproeasive. The cheapest I could find it for $730. You could definitely do a lot worse with your money. I've been pretty disappointed with seiko lately
I love the Khaki line, but always end up selling them as I can't deal wiht the super reflective crystals... Hamilton needs to fix this asap.
100% agree about the lack of AR. Also, I would prefer a date window but I know I'm a minority in that dept
I'm hoping they release this one in the 42mm blue dial's colour!
If any brand needs a dose of internal anti-reflective coating, it's Hamilton and Rolex. I guess they think the reflectivity is part of the appeal. Still a nice watch.
Ruins the watch imo
True
Hi, how's the accuracy of this movement? Thanks!
So much nicer without a date. Well done Hamilton
Do we know if there is a ghost date crown position? I wish more reviews would mention whether or not a watchmaker has removed the ghost date on no-date watches. (Maybe I missed it in this review.)
@@MrJamesDuffy no idea, I wasn’t aware that was even a thing.
@@MrJamesDuffy out of curiosity, does it really matter if there is a ghost date or not?
@@diavalus Functionally, no. However, I think the presence of a ghost date (or not) speaks to a watch brand's attention to detail and consideration for the watch owner's experience. For me, more than USD $600 or so, I expect a no-date watch to have the ghost date crown position removed. Specifically regarding the Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic Titanium, that expectation I have set for myself could determine if I buy pre-owned, on the gray market, or from an authorized dealer. Ultimately, I want to support Hamilton's authorized dealers so yes, it matters, but certainly not for timekeeping.
@@MrJamesDuffy at this price point, I don’t think Hamilton can afford to have a movement redesigned to remove the date complication. If they would (significantly) increase the price, then yes, they could remove it.
Can't go wrong with a hamilton khaki field.
I'm considering this watch right now, as I prefer the weight of ti over steel. The black dial is the obvious choice, and a 'safe' option but it's also somehow slightly, er, boring to me, whereas the photos of the green dial looks more interesting. I'd love to see a clip of the green dial on your wrist.
I've had the black one in this video for about a week now and i do love it, one thing is i wish the hands were a bit brighter because its a little had to read but then again I'm 60yo and need glasses, you can't go wrong
the orange on the 2nd hand tip & black hands irk me
Nice, but why a green braclet?
I LOVE this design, I just wish this one came in 42 since 38 is a bit too small for my wrists. Also so glad to see that the tacky "TITANIUM" font has been removed from the side of the case.
There is a 42 mm version
@@peteorengo5888 Not in this color way, unless I'm mistaken.
I hope there would be a biege dial
The grade two titanium... of this Field Watch, which is not very resistant to accidental shocks, made me give up on buying it.
The 38 autos are so so good. Don't pine over an old explorer or a smiths or whatever. Grab a 38 auto and tell me your not happy 😊
If only Hamilton used AR coating then I would have another one. Got rid of my last one fast after finding out how bad the reflections are on these Khaki's are.
I agree, AR would have made it even better. At this point, it feels like a cheap Rolex.
@@diavalus I flipped mine when I couldn't tell the time in low light. If $50 Chinese watches can have AR why not a $900 watch? It's just stupefying.
Plastic escapement? like the Tissot, MIDO...other swatch brand watches that have 80 hour power reserve? can't be serviced?
Does this have lum ?
Orange? With green...?
If they swapped out the straps it would look better personally
Wish they made this without the orange accents. If this was just a no date, titanium version of the stainless steel Khaki Field Automatic, I'd probably have to buy one.
I own this one. Is it perfect? No, because there´s no ar-coating. No, because the black dial isn´t good to read, when the light is weak. No, because the titanium could be more scratch resistant.
Would I buy this watch with the black dial again? Oh yes. Sometimes inperfection makes things more interessting.
i own it too and i feel the same ,sure those issues are there but i just love it, i bought a few different straps so i can mix it up too
How is it holding up now a year later? Does it scratch up easily?
@@msp5274 I would say it's still allright. I don't wear it every day but often at the weekend. I don't see scratches.
Thanks for responding! And good to know. I've been considering this watch but don't want to scratch it up too much.
Still prefer the steel 38 auto

Too much reflection in your close-ups.
real field watches do not have glassbacks
why
@@4th_Disciple because the point of a field watch is simplicity and ruggedness. A glass caseback adds cost and reduces strength. That said I don't mind it myself.
The watch community’s obsession with AR coating is hilarious. If a watch is legible enough, it doesn’t require any. And personally, I prefer no AR to my crystal turning blue in the light.
I dont like Ar coating because it can fall down. I think that is a pain in the ass considering that a strong point of the sapphire crystals is that they dont scratch. And if it is installed in the inside of the cristal, it doesnt work that well.
Lack of ar coating 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
