just started milking my cow a few weeks ago. today was ice cream day!!! I am learning cheese making next.
Now that’s what I’m talking about!
Whey has bacterial cultures in it. Leaves on trees excrete a sugary substance esp. when fertilized. The whey feeds off the sugary substance using it up before any harmful fungi or bacteria can grow on your trees.
Right on!
Thanks for the in-depth explanation. And another rule in nature is that nature abhors a vacuum. By putting a desirable culture in its place the pathogenic have less of an ability to compete.
So could you make cheese from the milk and just use the whey on the plants?
@@judyrose7828 yes
Good job, Billy. We have never had a churn. We used to make butter in a quart jar simply shaking it back and forth. Our current KitchenAid has nearly made a ton of butter.
I can’t even imagine the work out a person would get churning butter for hours!
My mother used to put the butt of a pumpkin in a little bowl of milk, boy did that help it them grow! 😊
I sure wish we could get back all of that wisdom these days!
Owning a dairy cow even 1 is like owning a boat you want a friend who has one because they can produce alot of milk
I know exactly what you mean Jack !
2 goat's have kidded out in the last 2 day's (1 set of triplets & 1 single. The girl's are ahead so 3-1) 😅
Can't wait to make butter again. Wish i had a jersey.
You’re son gave me the same advice about helping me with cedar rust I have to them so thick with grape vines and black berries and bind weed it a mess God Bless you both and your families
Thank you so much Keith and blessings to you and yours!
Billy, I’m with you on easy eggs.🤮 We buy our milk from a local farmer here in North Idaho. I’ve made Greek yogurt twice from it and looking into cheeses now that the cheese companies have changed the rennet they use. Thanks to Doug and Stacy for the heads up. Tillamook was our favorite cheese being we are originally from Oregon. So discussing what has happened to our food. Cheese making is the next project.
You just made me hungry & having a craving for scrambled eggs.
One memory of my early childhood is of visiting Dad’s mom’s farm in northwest Arkansas. I learned how to milk a cow and pick berries, and we made real ice cream using only the cream (no milk), fresh picked berries, and a hand cranked ice cream maker. 😋😁
That sounds absolutely magnificent!
@@PermaPasturesFarm21 Dad told me that I had to perch on the ice cream maker and cackle like a chicken while he turned the crank for the ice cream to come out properly. I was young enough to believe him, and big enough to weight the machine in place.
I wonder if I can do that with Goat milk ? I get fresh raw goat milk from a small famer and all I can say Store-bought and fresh is like day and night . So mild and sweet ...yum!
I’m not sure about goats milk, but I suspect it couldn’t hurt.
Goat milk has much smaller fat globules, so it doesn’t naturally separate into milk and cream. There are mechanical milk separators that can do it.
That is a unique idea. Also heard of using a certain kind of a watered down clay slip. Heard of you from a commenter on David The Good's most recent video on mulching trees, you have a new subscriber, sir :) As to raw milk, have you seen Homestead Family's video on clabbered milk? Quite fascinating and unexpected... kind of like this video :D
Welcome aboard my friend! I haven’t examined clabbered milk, but I know a lot of old timers used to really love it.
Thats a really tough trade...as a milk aficionado i dont know if i could sacrifice perfectly good milk on a tree rather than myself lol
I know what you mean, but these methods allow you to keep at least a part of it.
We put milk on our garden. Our dairy cow gifts is abou 6 gallons a day. And you cant beat the flavor of it, the butter or the cream for coffee
Now that’s what I’m talking about!
Ueah shes a jersey/holstein mix, and aboit 7 years old. She is going strong and its time to breed her again
Now i wonder if this would work on American chestnut...?
It’s funny you mentioned that because I did the very same thing with them as well. So far so good!
Every time I see them spraying the term, “ roger den mother I’ll follow you right into the ground” comes to mind. Just sayin.
Two questions, can I use the whey from making cheese with my raw milk in the same way? I just made some farmhouse cheddar and I have a huge pot of whey waiting to go outside. Second question, can I plant blackberries between my fruit trees like you did the blueberries?
Whey , will be the same out come. So yes.
Whey is exactly what my mentor uses.
This is a classic example of a weeellllll sheeeit. Yep that just happened. Hey like you said we all do idiot things from time to time. It best to own it then move on cuz you can't hit rewind and do it again. Thank you Tanner for sharing this video that shows that you're still a human with us. May y'all have a good one. Have fun take care
Your killin me smalls !!!😂
I love that raw milk !!! Blessings friend !
Didn't look messy to me - dats how i like my eggs!
🥚🥚🥓🥓
I like that Billy, from cow to wow is correct, nothing like all the things that can be done with real milk.🙏❤️🙂
Thank you so much, Linda!
Will this help treat/prevent fire blight?
I’m not sure, but I’m hoping to discover the answer.
Great video Billy. I now have another use for my local raw cow milk besides just drinking it.
Sounds great!
Nice video we just made our first cheese from our goats milk and i was planning on doing this with the leftover whey
Spoken like a true Permaculture designer!
Would this work if I already had ants + aphids on my fruit trees?
I’ve never tried it for that application, but it’s worth a shot.
Make some L.A.B with milk .Concentrates the lactic acid bacteria for amazing results .Fresh milk taste amazing 👍
God bless you Mr. Billy and Mrs .Michelle.
We have to get our A2 milk from our Farmers market here in Montgomery, Texas
As still cant purchase in a store , but they found away to order online by Tuesday and they deliver that Saturday to our local Farmers market ,
We changed our eating last November 2023 - to keto and now my husband does Carnivore, but I still use the cream .
Im so glad I heard your name come up , I looked and yeap ,resubscribed !!!
Mrs j.
Texas 🙏 🙏 🙏
oh funny. I am the opposite. I cannot stand an overcooked egg. Once they get totally dried out they are disgusting. super cringe. but i love all your other stuff. ;)
Yes, I love fresh A2 milk and pick mine up on Fridays. Fresh cream too!
Guess I'll b ordering more milk this week. Is it OK to spray tge fruit trees when the fruit has already started appearing? Thx
Blessings, julie
I’m the same way! Don’t give me a runny egg! Only scrambled or hard fried! That butter looks delicious!
Great minds think alike my friend!
The best chocolate cake I ever had was made with buttermilk,
Now that is a chocolate cake I would love to eat!
Great video, planning to make some soon . I bet it’s great on your sourdough as well. The first bread making video I ever watched, was Michelle’s. Have to give that a try again as well. Thanks.
Great video PIMP Master. There are so many things you can do with raw milk, with a little bit more time and patience you can make Ghee. Talk about taking your cooking experience to another level, that stuff is off the hook. God Bless from TN.
Ima go to bed and dream about home-made, butter-fried (not overcooked) fresh eggs for breakfast...and hope I don't have nightmares about trees sneaking in to steal the fresh milk! 🤣
culturing natural lactobacillus - excellent!
Thank you very much, Jacob !
I could cry seeing this. I can't get a hold of raw milk whatsoever. 😢😢 I am lactose intolerant and want to cure it so badly...
You might have to drive a few hours to find it these days.
@@PermaPasturesFarm21 I live on a UK island which I can financially basically never leave and there are no diary cows here. Life is hard... Haha
Can it be any raw milk? Are goat and sheep ok?
I’m not sure, but I suspect goat and sheep milk would work just fine.
Would you put the milk spray on other berry bushes other than blueberries?
Could you use the whey from plain yogurt?
You can spray it on pretty much everything. I’m not sure about the yogurt though.
@@PermaPasturesFarm21I had heard Stefan talk about how he get whey as the byproduct of some dairy manufacturers, so I would think maybe you could use whey from plain yogurt.
2A milk?? Making pewpew shakes??
I hope it doesn’t come to that!
Can I use soured raw milk?
I’m not sure, but I suspect you probably could.
How often do you spray your trees?
If I’m using milk and do it once a month on a sunny day.
Mr Billy!! Man! Now we gotta get a milk cow! thanks
Remember that every milking operation is something of a marriage.
great idea for the orchard!
Thank you so much, Kathleen!
Always good information, Kind Sir!
What kind of kettle? Beautiful ! Thanks !
Yuuuummmm!!!
Love fresh real milk, had it as a child from a friends farm
My wife grew up the same way.
Poor Milk Boi. Looked like he thought he was in trouble.
I think he just wanted some milk.
I thought he was hoping for a belly rub.
TU for the video Great info
Glad it was helpful!
Nice how to video
that's awesome
thanks billy!
Thank you, my friend!
Does this have to be cow milk, or will goat milk work too?
Goat milk, cream makes good butter (& together makes good ice cream), they have whey too, but they are naturally homogenized so that'd be something to look up to know for sure. Or try it. 🤷♂️
Thanks Billy
Thank you for watching your responding, my friend!
You’re very late when it comes to promoting this. All the pros know this trick
Glad I made this video for the amateur then!
@@PermaPasturesFarm21thank you Billy. This amateur did not know about this.
@@georgemiller9533neither did this one 😊
