Excellent job and great explanation of your process and rationale. Your river bottom looks like it belongs in a movie and you are truly being a steward of the land. Good luck this fall.

Very good video. I planted a bunch of trees and shrubs into winter wheat from the prior fall. The wheat has tremendous weed prevention, and it will allow forbs and other natural regen to occur after it dies. Perennial grasses don't offer much for wildlife. I realize it depends on your goals. The deer, turkeys, rabbits, pheasants etc really like natural regeneration. You do get some undesirables but many beneficials as well. Your property looks great.

Great job with the farm and the tree plantings! Just a word of caution; be careful around the trees with tubes as yellow jackets love to nest in them also.
Lastly, the tree tubes do a great job of protecting the trees but I have found it best to wait until the tree trunk either busts out of the tube or the tube simply deteriorates over time before removing them. If you remove them too soon the tree trunk will be too spindly to support the tree growth that occurs above the top of the tree tube.

Mossy oak native nurseries has really good tree tube protection kits! Comes with tube, stake& zip ties for $8. Hope that helps Todd!

Trees should be planted when they are dormant!

Put a weed mat down and then you won’t have to pull as many weeds
