@@stillnotstillthe only reason people make fun of how Mikayla talks is because she fakes her accent
@@stillnotstill People mock the way she talks because it is an over the top, obviously fake Boston accent, a persona that she has created for TikTok. There are videos of her from years ago before she became famous, with no accent at all. Edited to add: one of her choices is to use this persona to lie to viewers. No reason for video if not naming products
Any influencer that does this HAS to know they’re lying through their teeth. No way to live in denial when the instructions are this crystal clear.
And they would have to have the content approved by the brand so it’s like two layers of lying
I worked for the ratings and review platform that owns Influenster. Most companies don’t even have to ask for made up claims from their products because it’s understood most reviewers (not all, most) will give a positive reviews because they’re grateful they got a free product. And want to keep getting more. Both sides have something to gain from this system, it’s flawed from the start.
I'm sorry Robert, I'm not even listening because I can't stop admiring your eye shadow today 🤩 I'll have to restart the video 🙈

When Il Makiage announces their setting spray we'll all know we guessed it.
Also we'll know which influencers lie.
I think knowing who is lying about it is the more important information here!! Good call!!
Yes. This is what I'm waiting for. The influencers who "swear by it" during an ad.
James recently talked about a few shady deals he chose not to take. Thank you, Robert, for being so honest, and please thank your brother as well. You're two of the few influencers I know I can trust.
8:52 They said talk through it so here goes - “I’m applying this black waterproof lipstick on the top and a red creme lipstick on the bottom, but I’m only gonna spray the black waterproof lipstick. You guys won’t believe what happens, are you ready? 😮 oh my gosh did you guys see that? I can’t believe it but the black didn’t smear at all! I’m OBSESSED.”
Wow! They’re really just admitting the product doesn’t work but sending detailed directions on how to trick customers into thinking it works. Thanks for the information, Robert. Anyone watching TikTok, be on the lookout for ads for a new setting spray. Then you’ll know not to buy it and which creators not to trust.

I can believe it, James talked about getting the same kind of brief a few weeks ago. These brands, imho, don't deserve to continue doing business.
I remember watching prior to this and I thought Robert had covered something like this. But no, it was James' video! 😂 And I know they're NOT the same person.
an influencer said that a brand asked her to wear fake lashes for mascara ad so i’m not really surprised
Them: “it takes time to work!”
Also them: “give it only 60 seconds before you go ahead and fake it”
"It's not that our product doesn't work, it takes time to work! ... so anyway instead of giving it that time you're just going to fake it."
That 100% makes me think "it doesn't work" - especially since they have no other transfer proof makeup [or at least no transfer proof foundation].
Exactly! Like… just wait for it to work…
This is disgusting shows how much they get away with decieving consumers !
I've never seen a video go private then come back up. This must have pissed the wrong people off! Good job!
I see some people speculating NYX bc they just released “The Face Glue” primer and setting spray using hot pink lettering in the packaging. But it’s not them. Robert said the brand this is from doesn’t sell any foundation advertised as transfer-proof and matte. NYX has “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” which is marketed as both of those things.
Oooooh, I hope not. I like NYX.
Il Makiage also has pink accents and lettering on their site and that makes more sense to me.
@@DolceSuono9 Their setting spray has been out forever.
The can't stop won't stop foundation is the best I have ever used for me it does everything it says it does

That obvious filter they used was the worst thing could have done. More people probably passed on the foundation because of it.
Sounds like they don't have faith in their own products.
I’ve had to restart this video 6 times now because I just keep getting lost in Robert’s stunning makeup today! It’s both gorgeous and flawlessly applied! He is my spirit animal for sure!
What were we talking about again?😂
I work in marketing and unfortunately I am not surprised. I personally never wanted to send out a brief that would be straight out lying, but I did have some colleagues who worked for other brands do that. The influencer video had such a subtle undisclosed ad that even I didn’t notice it was and ad! I was so disgusted.
I must be naïve because I never imagined a brand would blatantly ask creators to commit false advertising.
I love that they felt safe enough to share it with you. And that you brought it to us. Consumers are being more aware of what we purchase and big brands are scared.
I feel like this brand wants paid actors for advertising rather than influencer ads, but don't know the difference
How despicable. I really have no idea who this brand is (we need more hints!) but I hope the brand is revealed somehow so we can all shame them.

If they are watching Robert’s channel…That brand must be panicking, putting a stop to creators’ videos, and changing its brief right now…
Totally not making any offensive legal statements here, just guessing, just riffing, but my guess is that the name of this brand rhymes with Shmil Shmakiage
Allegedly
Shill Shmakiage more like. :P
This is crazy! I just had a cosmetics company ask me to make content on their products but in the hook I had to say "I love this new brand" or something along the lines. How do I love it if I've never heard or tried? I passed on it. If I can't be honest I can't promote.
I absolutely adore Robert (and thank you for making this video), but i definitely want to thank this anonymous influencer for being brave enough to leak this. Knowing how companies can be
Yeah tbh that person is very brave, and that brand could do a lot to try to harm them if they accepted an ad, received a brief, and then turned them down based on the contents and passed it on to Robert - my guess is that brand could fairly easily figure out who did it and do a lot to try to blacklist them (at least) and do other shady things to harm them, seeing as they’re happy to lie and encourage others to lie. Doesn’t sound like a company that stands by ethical behavior in the least, so I appreciate that creator for fighting for what’s right at the risk of raising this company’s ire!
This is happened a lot when I'm still a micro influencers at Instagram. Back when TikTok doesn't even a popular thing. I've got so many brief with false/fake advertisement that I feel the opposite of who I'm truly are.
There's some brand that really hates, threaten and told me "oh you're must be new here. Shut up and just get along and your career would be thriving". That's the reason why I deleted my account and start it new. I hate it so much
And they don’t even proofread the mess! Intact- not damaged or impaired in any way. In tact- not a word. 😂
They have no tact 😅
I was going to call that out too! What exactly is a tact and how do I get in one? 😝
Also “non-applied”? Okay, girl!
And “She how your full face of makeup stayed in tact!”
I'm so glad you made this video, Robert! THIS is why people don't trust influencers - they're happy to take money and LIE. It also says a lot about the brand and how shit they know their setting spray is
So I'm a UGC creator and saw a brief asking permission to alter my appearance in editing. To basically fake results. I noped out of that so fast! It's so so common but I think it's especially bad asking influencers to do as they are selling directly to their audience. It's beyond traditional advertising then.
Omg you the second person to say this!
@@RobertWelsh I wish I'd screenshot it, if I see the campaign again I'll send you the info!
i love how thorough you are it’s like ace attorney
Depending on state laws, I'm pretty sure this is actually illegal. "Bait and switch" advertising is false advertising, which is considered fraud, which is then possibly subject to all sorts of laws. Yikes!
In my opinion, from how I’ve translated the laws, it’s a bit of a “grey area”, and can go either way… Since the influencers a *technically* using the advertised product, it leans more towards the brand’s favor… It’s like brands that use lash inserts when advertising mascara…
That's insane. How is that legal? That's straight up lying.
there's no way it is!
I can’t believe it is!
False advertising has long been illegal in broadcast ads and print. The internet is such a Wild West…
I think it isn't legal depending on state laws, especially if the influencers are being paid to do this. The influencers would all need to disclose somewhere "results aren't typical" or some kind of disclaimer.
@@ImberisIt is illegal in the US federally. The FTC has rules about this exact kind of thing. They can be fined. So can the influencer.
This depth of deceit was not something I was expecting
This is absolutely insane! Thanks for sharing. This brand should be held liable for straight up deceiving customers.
This is despicable. I hope they don’t make a penny. Having people lie instead of making a better product. SMH 🤦🏾♀️
Is that legal?!? omg. it can’t be. that’s actually horrible. why don’t they put money into creating a quality product instead of paying for lies? smh. quality speaks for itself!

Wow!! I figured this happens with some brands but to see it displayed like that so blatantly is crazy! Some of these brands are so slimy & money hungry that they don't care about the integrity of their brand or products. It's so disappointing but good on that creator for not working with the brand on this! If we can't depend on these brands, then at least we can depend on some influencers who stand up for what is right.

THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING REAL ROBERT!!! This is why Robert is my favorite youtuber.... i love the honesty and the fact we get REAL info and not a fake scripted diatribe. We as consumers need to STOP watching scripted content. The more we engage with fake influencers, the more money they get and it will only encourage them to continue lying. I know most of us HERE who watch and support Robert dont buy in to the fakeness of influencers but I also know sometimes we watch them just for the outrage and shock-value.... like hate-watching something. But even doing that counts towards their views so I try not to watch any of that scripted crap and only support/view/follow/comment/like and interact with youtubers and influencers that ACTUALLY have a conscience!
Whoever it is, if they’re already well liked, it’s a very stupid move to risk customer trust like this.
I’m commenting less than 30 seconds in because this eye look is stunning! I am immediately transfixed!

Congrats on your new collab with blend bunny!!!
“Discuss what happened” 😂😂😂😂 yup, that’s what this video is for
The fact that this means this company knowingly made a terrible setting spray then paid people to lie about it just to sell it. Then you buy it, use it once or twice, see it’s terrible and it goes straight in the bin. Producing loads of waste also
I can’t be the only one who wonders how the FTC/FCC (idk which US Agency controls social media ads) hasn’t cracked down on this already and started mass-issuing fines because, while it doesn’t seem to be enforced as strictly as in Europe, false advertising is a no-no in the USA as well, and you can get in trouble for it (well, at least, you’re SUPPOSED to).
What marketing for cosmetics isnt "false advertising"? The FDA gets involved when a company claims a product can make actual changes to the function of the skin. That is why packaging and ads throw in "may" or "may help to".
