The ammount of salt sprinkled all over ChrisG there when Wong gave a "nice match" hug on him could make the world's healthiest man die of high blood pressure.
My brain still can't seem to process how people get so good at Benimaru. I keep thinking that one day, my brain will finally click and learn the secret of such a dominating Beni.
@lilbunnyfoofoo late comment but interesting thing about his lighting loops. Instead of doing a TK rajinken you buffer it out of backdash to do it a few frames faster. This allows you to infinite with it.
Hey Max, don't know if you remember me, but I was the guy with the gray hat that said hi and wanted a picture with you and Matt, I couldn't really describe my gratuity to you because of how excited I was to meet you, but I really REALLY wanted to thank you for everything that you've done for the community, you've inspired me to do so much in the games I play because of you and I hope to one day achieve greatness like you have, thank you very much Max, keep up the good work YO VIDEOGAMES!!!!!!!!!
I remember watching the KOF finals and loved the part where AS Reynald started his comeback with one of the commentators sounding like he was having a heart attack, just priceless reactions.
I damn near wokeup the entire neighborhood during that set between chrisG and Jwong. I was literally pacing behind my couch biting my nails while it played out and when the clock hit 0 I litterally screamed "JUUUUUUUSSTTTIIIN WWOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG" at the top of my lungs. Absolutely inspired.
Personally I thought Justin's near win against Flocker was way more hype than his game vs Chris. You can't have hype with ChrisG around because he's just so damn boring. Plus I just like seeing Justin get so close and then having all of his hopes and dreams stolen from him. Which is why evo moment 37 will always be my favorite.
What made Evo moment 37 was Daigo at the deficit, making the comeback at the end that amazing, its why people prefered the ChrisG match, because Justin was just about to lose, but makes the comeback at the last pixel. Not to sound condescending, but you sound like a sadist, with your reasoning.
***** Oh I am most certainly a sadist sir no need to worry about offending me. I know why everyone else loved evo 37 I have jsut developed this hard on for watching Jwong come so close to winning and then getting it snatched away from him, mainly because it happens a lot.
***** Yeah but those aren't interesting to me. I'd much rather see him sitting there like he was after evo moment 37, all slumped in a chair like his dog just died or something.
Sorry Melee definitely wins. A down-to-the-wire fundraiser for breast cancer that amounted to almost 100K from Melee, then Mango falls into Loser's Bracket, only to defeat the greatest players in the world, including his biggest rivals in Armada and HungryBox, and then 6-1's Wobbles in Grand Finals after losing to him earlier. Plus with all of Mango's fan interaction both between matches and WHILE HE WAS PLAYING. The throwing the shirt into the crowd was easily the most hype moment of the tournament. That was a matchup, as the commentators said, people had been waiting for for months, even years.
better than the worst character in AE winning a top 8 match or the biggest comeback since EVO moment 37? Naw, but it was great and I did surprisingly enjoy it and look forward to seeing it come back next year.
Zachary Ripple Yeah, just because you think it's better does not mean it's better. Keep in mind, this isn't an official voted list. It's a fan-made video. Now, calm down and let's all enjoy the video.
I think you didn't get the idea, it's not that round that's the moment. The reason why that is an Evo moment is because of the unexpected reaction and effort by an entire community to put Smash into Evo.
Man the biggest highlight her to me was the KOF XIII match. That dude with the glasses did some straight up Daigo shit, and the announcer was losing his voice from screaming.
Justin Wong and the phrase "Never give up" (one which has been attached to him since MVC2, go hand in hand and you can see why. Honestly, even some of the loyalists of fans would have had doubts whether Justin would go far at EVO, especially considering the dominant performances of ChrisG etc and his subtier team. Just goes to show that one should NEVER give up a dream, no matter the odds. It's a shame he didn't win EVO, but he's a real winner in the hearts of fans all around the world!
hey Max loved the assist me series and the efforts you go through to contribute such high-quality videos, I have one question. In the number 1 hype moment for J Wong vs Chris G, what music is being played for that section i think its starts roughly at 12:25. p.s. big thanks for your Strider tech and your call for the community to showcase their stuff, Big inspirtation
FIFA world cup 2014 in brasil; EVO 2014 actually matched the mood, as a lot of favorites got knocked out in incredible upsets in EVO too. Just like reigning Champion Spain got its ass handed to them 5-1 and got sent back home during the pools.
You probably have never played it competitively, tried any of the techniques these guys use, or just don't realize how much skill is involved with playing at that level. I'm the same way with street fighter man, its boring as shit to watch.
yo don't be sorry for not knowing something, i didn't know this either at some point. during the main part of the evo tournament, it's double elim - if you lose one game you drop down to the losers bracket but you're not out, if you lose twice you're out. so all the winner's bracket people play until there's only one person who hasnt lost a single round, and there's only one person in the loser's bracket who hasnt been eliminated, and then they play in the finals
No Tekken love :/ I watched all of the finals for that though, and there were many hype moments that could've been featured. Oh well. Most people still can't take 3d fighters, I guess.
I'm so glad you didn't shill in Killer Instinct. I was watching a (very non-informative) video of it and it lead to this video, and I was worried it somehow got on the list.
Loved every moment on this list. Me personally I swapped the KOF and Justin Wong moment since Reynald made a comeback and won. I'm so happy my friend introduced me to EVO this year. Can't wait till next year 83.
While BT was impressive and dominating in the TTT2 competition, Cloud805 was a virtual unknown in the tournament circles, even opting to play on a gamepad instead of an arcade competitive stick. A guy coming out of nowhere to beat last year's champ was one of the most amazing things to see and deserves to be in this video.
It's because it's SO inaccessible, it's really difficult and that's the main criticism of it. When you've spent a long time learning it though, you understand the hype, and it's a shame that the community works so hard and gets so little recognition.
I feel sorry for Max for Evo 2014. There were too many hyped moments this year from all the games shown! Good think Max is planning on doing a Top 5 for each game since that will truly give just dues to every single competitor this year. Can't wait to see it! :D
That was a GREAT video. I train alone, and after beating the cpu on hardest setting in my sleep, I realize I need a training and my growth is limited with online play and xbox pad
I have to say that counter pick by Infiltration was nuts. I mean I wanted PR Balrog to win, but dang, was that some great play by Infiltration with Hakan. Not to mention it seems like both players had great respect for each other
One does not simply come back from being sent to loser by flocker 3 to 0 and close to being eliminated with 30 percent storm to reset the whole grand finals and close to taking umvc3 crown. Legendary
Reynald's comeback in KOF Grand Final was one of the most amazing comeback I've ever seen. I generally cheer for Japanese players, but his Kyo is so amazing, I love that character. *0* Justin's moment is definitely number 1, this is how Marvel is meant to be. HYPE!!!! I really hoped Justin would have won back then. D:
Amen to that. Justin put up a fantastic performance at Evo 2013 by knocking out Chris G and moving on to fight back in one of the closest matches of Marvel EVO history. Sure, he ultimatley got second place in EVO, but he more than won the hearts of millions by keeping the dream of Marvel alive.
i wouldnt have minded if it took longer to make this video if you included more justin clips, like the way he reset the grand final bracket with his akuma double overheads
Evo tends to handle things with a double elimination style tournament, meaning you have to lose two sets in order to be eliminated. In the finals the ones who are still surviving in the losers bracket have meet up with the winners bracket. And in the finals if a bracket is being reset, it means the loser one defeated the guy who was in the winners bracket, thus making him have one elimination, thus bringing it to a final set. Best of 5 matches means whoever wins 3 out of 5 matches takes the set.
admittedly the clips he showed werent the big hype moments of smash at evo, i would recommend you watch phishit vs swift, pp vs armada, axe vs mango, and the ssbm highlight reel and see if you like those
My thoughts 5. That was an epic moment. 4. Really to me it's just cool for the loser bracket comeback not KOF, you know, you don't :( 3. Max, this should be no 1, also the song you chose is my favorite Kirby song, that makes it more hype. 2. Oh snap this was hype I don't like Hakkan but the switch is so hype. 1. Yeah, Justin Wong is Da Man, that's it
Respect to everybody's opinion, but Reynald's KoF march to the grand finals and victory was my most hype moment. Even those who aren't KoF fans can appreciate it.
The ammount of salt sprinkled all over ChrisG there when Wong gave a "nice match" hug on him could make the world's healthiest man die of high blood pressure.
Justin Wong's comeback and Yipe's commentary is entirely why I enjoyed watching Marvel 3 at EVO and looked forward to it every year after this.
the KoF was the most hype grand finals. i really enjoyed then all the other finals. best come back
Fighting games need TV coverage it is so entertaining
man, this did not age well.
Watching FChamp stall for what felt like forever and then get beat down was my favorite fucking thing.
Justin Wong's comeback at UMVC3 grand finals at EVO 2013 had the internet raising their wongers.
Who is the deep-voiced commentator for the KoF match? He always gets so into it.
Hellpockets
Denshuu You mean Woolie's lost uncle.
darude - sandstorm
Rewatching this for Evo2014 HYPE! I got so many chills!
I remember the number 2, Hakan time! one of the best comebacks i've ever seen!
I just love how Hoo San Woo just threw his fight stick on the floor after loosing.

That Wong factor was so hype....
Confirmed: Marvel vs Capcom 4 will have Wong Factor
Holy shit, that counterpick from Infiltration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best counter picks I've ever seen, and leads to what I think is, blow-for-blow, the greatest match in EVO history.
Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday...
Who the fuck is READY??? #GETFUCKINGHYPED #EVO2014
max got a 190 hit combo wit tj combo
justin wong's comeback was SOOOOOOOOOO amazing, i got CHILLS ALL OVER MY BODY.
EVO was totally amazing this year!
Why exactly did people hate Justin Wong? He seems to be a rather pleasant guy.
Cause in MvC2, he' was the king of runaway
its a tactic, and hes not the only guy who runs away just to win
SaigaTenshi He was the main guy though and on top of that he went undefeated for years until Sanford Kelly beat him at a tournament.
Who the F**K runs away! Thats kinda lame if you wanna be the best. Then again money is involved
Besides its atournament, i dont remember the rules about what Justin Wong did that violates it, Chris G took his own medicine and thats the fact
I remember watching the KOF finals and loved the part where AS Reynald started his comeback with one of the commentators sounding like he was having a heart attack, just priceless reactions.
bro, your thumbnails always look epic
I damn near wokeup the entire neighborhood during that set between chrisG and Jwong. I was literally pacing behind my couch biting my nails while it played out and when the clock hit 0 I litterally screamed "JUUUUUUUSSTTTIIIN WWOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG" at the top of my lungs. Absolutely inspired.
1 button for infinite combo cannot be the hypest moment.
I loved that Hakan switch. The stream and the crowd when he did it went absolutely APESHIT. It was so awesome.

***** Oh I am most certainly a sadist sir no need to worry about offending me. I know why everyone else loved evo 37 I have jsut developed this hard on for watching Jwong come so close to winning and then getting it snatched away from him, mainly because it happens a lot.
Rayne4Jesus Well it also happens alot that he makes crazy comebacks.
***** Yeah but those aren't interesting to me. I'd much rather see him sitting there like he was after evo moment 37, all slumped in a chair like his dog just died or something.
I've been waiting for this video so anxiously and I am not disappointed!
Naw, but it was great and I did surprisingly enjoy it and look forward to seeing it come back next year.
this problem with that is that the game is trash.
Have you played ssbu yet? if it was an early build means outs not complete and from what I watched it looked pretty solid
Zachary Ripple Yeah, just because you think it's better does not mean it's better. Keep in mind, this isn't an official voted list. It's a fan-made video. Now, calm down and let's all enjoy the video.
I'm just fucking glad it was Mango that thrashed Wobbles and his fucking wobbling bs.
So glad I subscribed, Max. Great stuff!
WHATS THAT HYPED SONG IN THE END. UMVC3
EditinqCrew X-ray dog perseus rising :)
Is there any way you can do a top 5 for like every event? Your commentary is supreme and I love your delivery. I need more.
Melee man...best game ever.
putting melee into evo was one of the best things to ever happen.
Lol how the fuck is 5:54 a top 5 hype moment. He grabbed him and spammed A. OMGHYPEHAEJAFAWEFD
It's lame to watch and incredibly lame to play against.
InfernapeCalib Well in pro level its hard to do,
Lol, the guy you see mashing his controller isn't the one doing the infinite.
I think you didn't get the idea, it's not that round that's the moment.
The reason why that is an Evo moment is because of the unexpected reaction and effort by an entire community to put Smash into Evo.
InfernapeCalib It's a top 5 because Wobbles came out of fucking nowhere and got 2nd place at the biggest smash tournament at the time.
Man the biggest highlight her to me was the KOF XIII match. That dude with the glasses did some straight up Daigo shit, and the announcer was losing his voice from screaming.
I don't know about you guys, but melee was my number 1.
Absolutely fantastic job on this video, Max.
SPOILER ALERT: it's too bad justin lost against flocker. respect tho.
Your choice of music for each moment is flawless, sir.
NEED TEKKEN
not so hyped anymore,
SaigaTenshi Im always hyped for tekken!
so am i, but i wonder why they didnt highlight in evo videos?
SaigaTenshi Cuz they are ASSHOLES
NO
Justin Wong and the phrase "Never give up" (one which has been attached to him since MVC2, go hand in hand and you can see why. i could never take KOF as seriously as I take Tekken, SF4 & MKX.
It's not easy, it's definitely not for casual gamers
+theclanavenger A casual KOF player? True..
+Necromancer !!! But why can't you take it seriously tho?
+theclanavenger Cuz it's too hard.
Just follow the ingame tutorial? Lol I wish I could help but yeah.. Just use the tutorial
hey Max loved the assist me series and the efforts you go through to contribute such high-quality videos, I have one question. In the number 1 hype moment for J Wong vs Chris G, what music is being played for that section i think its starts roughly at 12:25.
p.s. big thanks for your Strider tech and your call for the community to showcase their stuff, Big inspirtation
and people tell me that fighting games suck Pffff, can someone tell me when was the last Sport game World championship?
yeah... didn't think so
2012 London Olympics...
FIFA world cup 2014 in brasil; EVO 2014 actually matched the mood, as a lot of favorites got knocked out in incredible upsets in EVO too.
Just like reigning Champion Spain got its ass handed to them 5-1 and got sent back home during the pools.
Lord Seth you do know I mean video games right?
Wow @ justin, he's like a reverse spencer. People hated him but now he's a hero.
Wong has indeed made gaming history.
Mortal Kombat??
awesome vid Max. nice editing skills :)
My god Smash is boring as eff to watch
At least Smash has one thing going for it:
It's not SF4.
You probably have never played it competitively, tried any of the techniques these guys use, or just don't realize how much skill is involved with playing at that level. I'm the same way with street fighter man, its boring as shit to watch.
stydermmb This is pretty late but dang he picked the least hype moments of melee
yo don't be sorry for not knowing something, i didn't know this either at some point. during the main part of the evo tournament, it's double elim - if you lose one game you drop down to the losers bracket but you're not out, if you lose twice you're out. so all the winner's bracket people play until there's only one person who hasnt lost a single round, and there's only one person in the loser's bracket who hasnt been eliminated, and then they play in the finals
why not just play melee and pm instead of other games?
Because there are other games
nintendo did not want melee at evo but fans demanded it I think that was the only year they could stream any ssbb game at evo i am not 100% sure
What pm?
TheBearrish Project M, its a modded version of brawl to make it faster and more technical. if you like melee u shud check it out
Rumford Chimpenstein you do know by today that the PM plane won't fly again in official (Nintendo sponsoring/supervising) tourneys, right? ('
MAXAMILLIAN!!!!!!!!
Nice meeting you @ evo, see you again
No Tekken love :/
I watched all of the finals for that though, and there were many hype moments that could've been featured.
Oh well.
Most people still can't take 3d fighters, I guess.
Tekken sucks
What? One more dimension too much for you?
tekken 3 all the way man
womack fish The good ol' days lol
13Kr4zYAzN13 yeah they need to add it on the psn or xbla
WOW, THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE. These people are PHENOMENAL!!
This is the wildest stuff I've seen. Truly amazing.
smaaaaash
what song was used for Max's 1# evo moment? its hype as fuck i love it
I'm so glad you didn't shill in Killer Instinct.

A guy coming out of nowhere to beat last year's champ was one of the most amazing things to see and deserves to be in this video.
Nice videos, feels like a mini TV segment, also great narrative voice, you should do more work.
That Justin Wong match was amazing...I really didn't think he was going to make it, but wow, I've never been that excited to watch a match.
It's because it's SO inaccessible, it's really difficult and that's the main criticism of it. When you've spent a long time learning it though, you understand the hype, and it's a shame that the community works so hard and gets so little recognition.
You know you can relate, when your heart starts pounding when you see some of the footage you see here!
It's been asked hundreds of times already but WHAT IS the song/music at 12:26 for the No.1 moment??
I've even tried messaging him directly on his FB page but nothing. This needs to have proper music credits for the whole video...
The second part is definitely X-Ray Dog - PERSEUS RISING. But the first part? Still no idea...
I feel sorry for Max for Evo 2014. There were too many hyped moments this year from all the games shown! Good think Max is planning on doing a Top 5 for each game since that will truly give just dues to every single competitor this year.
Can't wait to see it! :D
Reynald's runback for me in KOFXIII was the hypest of 2013. It was redemption and revenge from last year.
That was a GREAT video. I train alone, and after beating the cpu on hardest setting in my sleep, I realize I need a training and my growth is limited with online play and xbox pad
You have saved my life. Thanks Buddy.
ITS BACK! THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO!
Number 1 with Wong was definitely deserved. I was so hyped the first time i saw that and i watch it from time to time.
The song playing in the number 1 hype moment is called Perseus Rising by X-Ray Dog. :)
great editing max! hey can you put up all the KI3 exibition matches up on your channel? I really wanna rewatch them. thanks!
Justin's moment is definitely number 1, this is how Marvel is meant to be. HYPE!!!!
I really hoped Justin would have won back then. D:
whats the name of the game from 14:21 ???
plz help me
Killer instinct I think, I could be wrong though.
It's killer instinct
Rewatching Infiltration’s match again PRBalrog is still super dope to this day
Amen to that.
I was watching the PR Rog vs Infiltration live.. I swear it was the best match I've ever seen since the 04 losers bracket finals.
Man this year's EVO was great. Can't wait for next years
i wouldnt have minded if it took longer to make this video if you included more justin clips, like the way he reset the grand final bracket with his akuma double overheads
you sir made my day with this video
I'm so glad I stayed up till 6:30am to watch the finals, was one of if not THE craziest evo ever
Kinda disappointed you didn't include AS Reynold's comeback as EX Kyo. That Goodbye Esaka music in the background though, so fitting.
I LOVED the Soul Calibur music during the KOF fights! Nice touch on the vid!
Hey max I loved the vid. Its one of high quality.
Best of 5 matches means whoever wins 3 out of 5 matches takes the set.
whats the music during Justin Wongs Comeback (After taking first game) ?
I love how the music is so dramatic that it suited everything on this video what's the video called?
#5 #3 & #1 STILL give me ALL the chills in the world...
Anyone knows the names of the last 2 songs? During justin comeback and during KI exhibition match?
I'm not sure about the first part, but the second part around 12:24 is Perseus Rising by X-Ray Dog.
That Music of Soul Calibur is Epic Max!!
thanks for sharing this epic moments of the EVO!!!
SALUDOS DESDE MÉXICO!!!!
admittedly the clips he showed werent the big hype moments of smash at evo, i would recommend you watch phishit vs swift, pp vs armada, axe vs mango, and the ssbm highlight reel and see if you like those
My thoughts
5. That was an epic moment.
4. Really to me it's just cool for the loser bracket comeback not KOF, you know, you don't :(
3. Max, this should be no 1, also the song you chose is my favorite Kirby song, that makes it more hype.
2. Oh snap this was hype I don't like Hakkan but the switch is so hype.
1. Yeah, Justin Wong is Da Man, that's it
+Justin Brennan thats not the dreamland music its Fountain of Dreams
+MrShitcakes69 FoD and Dreamland are both from Kirby tho
Even though Justin didn't win the final, he made one hell of a come back. It was so close.
Respect to everybody's opinion, but Reynald's KoF march to the grand finals and victory was my most hype moment. Even those who aren't KoF fans can appreciate it.
The number 1 should have been called "Wong Factor is real"
Damn dude that last match was intense! Question though, what do these guys get when they win?
You have a great voice, man. If you haven't already, you should do voiceover or announcer work.
the hakan counterpick takes the cake for me. but j wong's climb back up was amazing too. man it was ALL sooooo good.
I won't lie: #1 brought tears to my eyes.
Hey, nice MK gameplay! I remember that being really popular like, 20 years ago with the kids.
Whats the title of the music used for the top 2 and top 1 moments? Hype moments made even more hype.
