Thank you so much! I took lessons for 7 years when I was a kid and they never taught me theory. So even though I could play pretty complex pieces, I never understood the theory behind it at all. I was merely a human midi controller(lol). I quit piano and I’m just getting back into learning it again after 16 years. This time I wanna learn music, instead of learning only the techniques. Your lessons is helping me a lot! Thank you for providing what thousands of hours of lessons couldn’t provide!!! Please Keep it up:)
Absolutely agree. I felt the same. The issue was that although I could somehow play difficult pieces home It was a totally different story in public. Sooner or later there was a glitch and I was failing because I didn't understand what I was playing and was relying only on muscular memory. I explain this to non musical people as if you were reciting a poem and that you had to remeber every letter of evey words. Much easier and less errors if you understand the words and the flow!
I hope you don't ever get tired of hearing that you are a fantastic teacher and your enthusiasm is such a godsend for adults like myself that want to learn this foreign language that is music, with a piano accent. Merci beaucoup.
You are an amazing teacher. I have taught guitar for years and play a number of instruments, mostly woodwinds. But I have never played piano. I can use it for writing and arranging but I don't really play. I have been thinking of adding it to my solo show and was looking for a good teacher that could guide me. Looks like you are it. Thank you so much!
Tried your fun Hallelujah song! Got the left hand going (finally). Got the 1 finger melody. Sounded great!!! Tried to add chord inversions and hit a brick wall! Every different chord inversion took 5 seconds to find. For the first time, I really understood the importance of learning and practicing chord inversions!!!!! Thanks for the videos ( and the motivation ) to practice them. You are a great teacher!
Thank you so much for opening my eyes how to play a piano the Wright way with good fingering. Wish you the best in life and God bless you with the desire of your heart. 🙏🏾👏🏽
What a great video. I'm a guitar player (kinda) who wants to get a little more fluent with my piano playing. I knew about inversions but not the fingering and how to practice. This is perfect!
The only person who talks about music so that I completely understand like 100% of material. Others just tell "play this stuff, it's important". Thanks for this channel.
The question, How can you get good at Chord inversions? Then the video instantly goes into a commercial of a guy taking a sledge hammer to a piano 😂😂😂😂😂. Gotta love the timing.
Came from Andrew's video. He is a fantastic teacher. However my dumb ass couldn't understand his simple explanation for inversion. So I came here and now I have an even clearer understanding and even a practice. I'm thankful for you both 💓
Great lesson thank you! I’m a music student and an English teacher. You’re a great teacher!!! Piano is my secondary instrument so I do t have tremendous time or money to dedicate to it so you’re lessons are invaluable!
Thank you for all of the instructional videos you provide. I started making music in 2017, 90% by ear and 10% by doing original arrangements. A lot of this I did without knowing the why or how it all connected. Learning more and more music theory and actual know-how has elevated my music making a lot.
Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial. I knew what chord inversions were but did not know the proper way to practice them. Thank you so much for your tips.
You are so good at teaching me.I dont understand thing easily ,my friend tried explaining it to me but i didnt understand ,I watched this video and understood .I played piano for 5 years but never got taught about inversions and alot more i havent learned,Im playing to songwrite so thank you
Really fun lessons, so easily explained! great channel which I use from time to time to get easy explanations that I then use for guitar. The inversions are so, so useful for small keyboards like a midi 25 player...
You are excellent teacher and like the way you explain... Will you please make the video for how to find out the chords of any song... What should be the basic logic to find chords of any song?
WOW omg i thought this was gonna be soo hard... BUT U've made it so easy!!! thank u so much :D idk where i'd be right now if this channel didn't exist!!!
One day i will be able to reach the level where i will be able to move both my hands effortlessly on all C chords. I am at the level where it's hard for me to even understand the beginner tutorials. Piano is 🖤
Wow thanks so nice of you to give us free lessons you not only look beautiful but you have a beautiful voice and music skills too along with a beautiful kind heart to share your music knowledge skills freely here with beginners like me who having time little more time now to pursue my additional hobbies to which i never really gave time earlier... Thanks a lot 😇
Clear conscise n finger placement that i can follow for dumie piano beginner here. Other vids are super confusing. Can u teach other cords pls..1 2 3 4 5 short cut transitioning too for R n L hands? 💖⛤🌻🖒😇🙏😍
How I wish you were typically gospel music based! Ca you recommend one for me? I play gospel solely and i Am based in Africa - Tanzania! You donno how much you impress and teach me! What would I have done without you!
can i do reverse chord inversions? if i have a d minor chord, can i drop the "a" down an octave? i always see people going up with the inversions but i only use them to go down. just wondering if ive been doing something against the "rules"
Absolutely you can! If you did that you'd have a D minor 2nd inversion. If you want to go further and drop the A down into the left hand while playing a D minor chord in the right you'd have a slash chord! Dm/A And don't worry too much about the rules as long as it sounds good ;)
Great lesson. When you say practice the inversions in every key isn't it really practice every chord (or at least all minor and major chords) - since a C major chord will always be a C major chord regardless of what key you're in?
Hi really great video!!! I'm a newbie player and I know all these chords...learned them with another piano app - but they weren't presented as "inverted" they were just the chords they showed for the songs I was following. Did I actually learn something upside down? Or that's more complicated than it needed to be? I'm really hoping to improve and understand the theory more.
Thanks you - great teaching style. Was wondering why you use your index finger for 1st inversion and not the middle finger? I was thinking using thumb, middle, pinky for root and both 1st and second inversions means you never have to worry about using the index finger and gives you consistency.

Hi Lisa, for a newbie, after getting comfortable with inversion for C major, which chord you will recommend I learn next?
Thank you for your time
Thank you so much! It helps a lot!!
TYSM! I really don't understand the inversion with my teacher especially on fingering so thanks!

the "a" down an octave? i always see people going up with the
inversions but i only use them to go down. just wondering if ive been
doing something against the "rules"
does it become a different chord entirely if i do that?
Absolutely you can! If you did that you'd have a D minor 2nd inversion.
If you want to go further and drop the A down into the left hand while playing a D minor chord in the right you'd have a slash chord! Dm/A

Dear god this video was good and straight to the point, thank you lol

I seem to play in the different positions than in Root form. I like that playing that way my hands stay closer together.
I like the way of teaching
Wow, I can actually keep up and go a decent pace! Ty!
Thanks you - great teaching style. Was wondering why you use your index finger for 1st inversion and not the middle finger? I was thinking using thumb, middle, pinky for root and both 1st and second inversions means you never have to worry about using the index finger and gives you consistency.
