    There is actually a behind the scenes video in which a cameraman says quite literally; "Hang on I'm getting some real dark pictures here" to which someone then says; "Shut up dave".
    I hope Dave got to work with a less shitty and more competent film crew.

    The Predator in this movie is named Wolf, after a character from Pulp Fiction. On his mask, there's something written in their language which translates to, "Not for glory. Not for honor. Not for the hunt. But to clean up the mess." Probably the most interesting and competent thing the filmmakers did.

      I also watch it when I was young (I watch AVPR before I watch AVP) and I remembered how dark the movie was. I can't see the Predalien very well that I thought it was just an ordinary Alien until the end where I can barely see its mandibles.

    • @hrudaypatil564
      @hrudaypatil564 2 года назад +3

      it really was disturbing, the guy who was behind this films main storyline is a psychopath
      the hospital scene was the worst

    • @klaustank8627
      @klaustank8627 2 года назад

      I first watched the movie, when I was around 8 or 9 years old because my father watched all kinds of movies with me, including horror (except the Zombie genre) to toughen me up or so?
      And I loved the movie, besides getting a bit disturbed for a few weeks.
      In retrospective, it endet up being my favorite movie from the A&P franchise.
      I am honestly kinda shocked right now, what a bad resonance the movie has gotten, because I loved it. I loved it because it was so gory, dark, horrifying and action stuffed especially, when comparing it to the first part. I probably was just too young to recognize how bad the rest of the movie (the characters and the teen stuff) is, because on one hand, I just doesn’t watched RUclips and any movie criticism back in the das and formed completely my own opinion without letting an influencer influence my opinion and on the over hand I just wanted to see people get ripped apart, Aliens get executed and the awesome wolfs-predator get challenged by the threatening new predator killing Predalien.
      Maybe I‘ll do a rewatch of all the movies to form a updated opinion.

    The "Choppa" scene in the first Predator was executed so damn well! The timing and tone of the music, Arnie's wound (props to the makeup fx team), the low shot that depicts struggle and vulnerability, and of course Arnie's famous line "GET TO THA CHOPPA!" - Damn, man. No wonder this was one of the most iconic scenes in Pedator! Can't find movie magic like this anymore... it's all about money and instant gratification.

    Alien settings: Gritty spaceships, harrowing derelict planets
    Predator settings: Sweaty atmospheric Jungles and a Sweaty City, technically a Concrete Jungle.

      Alien 3 tells you early on the prison is full of murderers and rapists and that Ripley is going to die so you don't care about who lives or dies. Add the fact the alien isn't intelligent like in the other movies and there is nothing to invest in with that film.

    the hospital scene is the MAIN reason (the other reasons are obvious) why I don't ever have the urge to re-watch this movie,
    those women at the hospital were probably pretty close to giving birth, those babies were not fetuses, they were more than likely already mostly fully formed and kicking in the womb when they were eaten alive. I know it is just movie but just imaging it is disturbing. Not to mention what the expecting mother would have to experience, having to live during the birth of the aliens.

    Actually the idea of the Alien running around earth, even if it was a small town was great. The Alien was always meant to be a weapon designed to take over from the inhabitants of a planet. This showed how they quickly multiply to an extent they can become a swarm. There was an indication of that in the flashback scene of the Predators fighting the Aliens in AVP. I wish they actually did an Alien movie where it's been unleashed on earth.

  • @ProDucktions0

    Requiem crossed the line for me with the hospital scene. Shock horror is the most desperate and lazy attempt to get a reaction from the audience. Can't genuinely scare or disturb somebody? Easy! Just show the Predalien regurgitate Xenomorph's into pregnant women's bodies to eat a fully formed child that's literally minutes away from being born. Add on literally seeing the Xeno's slide down the woman's neck and you got one of the worst scenes in cinema history. That's not scary. It's sick and lazy. I don't think a film has genuinely pissed me off as much as AVP: R just for that scene alone. Isn't it awesome that the only scene you can actually see in this pile of shit is that one? Nice. Fuck this movie.
    Edit: And for everybody saying "That's what Xenomorphs do!" yeah no shit. That doesn't mean it's okay to show it in a movie. Y'all are acting like this is some kind of Nature Documentary when it's a fucking movie. They crossed the line. There's no defending it.

      I definitely agree with you! The shock value in this film were lazy and unnecessary. The writer must've added in an attempt to make the movie scarier, which it doesn't. It's disgusting and depressing in so many level.
      Another shocker that pissed me off the most was the off-screen implication of the Predalien and other Xenomorphs devouring a maternity ward full of infants. There are scenes that confirmed that it happened when Wolf was investigating the hospital and glimpses at the same ward with empty baskets and the windows were covered in blood as well. This film alone disgusted me more than any other films that I'd watched. I'm glad the directors no longer makes movies anymore!

      See, and I know I'm going to start a nerd fight here, but that's what aliens supposed to be. That was the whole point of the xenomorph it's based off perverting human reproduction. The Facehugger is literally a vagina that rapes a man and forces him to give birth. The xenomorph itself is a perverted design of a sperm cell. It was meant to make you uncomfortable it was meant for that kind of shock horror. So. Don't actually have a problem with it because the fact that it bothers you meant it did what it was supposed to do. But hey I'm the one weirdo who liked this movie. I like the darker lighting at like the rubber suits, I like that it was cliche small-town American movie. With cliche small town American characters going up against these things. I guess I'm just a weirdo.

    Also, yeah, the rest of the film is awful as well. The cinematography was so low quality with some of the worst lighting I have ever seen in a feature film. Any of the stuff that could have been redeemable, like the alien vs predator fight scenes, ended up being complete crap because of how the lighting was done. This movie is a textbook example of why lighting is so important when filming.

Both movies have this giant underground complex where they show the holographic layout of it. Both movies have humans descend into this labyrinth where they're being killed multiple things. Like in RE it's zombies and Hive defenses. In AVP it's Aliens and Predators. But AVP Requiem in a way is like Resident Evil 2 and 3, the game, because of how the city gets blown up at the end.

    The maternity scene set the tone for the rest of the movie: It was a gorefest with the creatures in plain sight for the sake of showing shocking scenes and make a profit out of edgy people who think it's cool to show blood and guts for the sake of it. Which is extremely insulting when you think about the reason why Alien and Predator scare the shit out of us in their first movies. The reason they scare us its because we don't see them, they don't go out on the gore and turn it into Hostel meets Jigsaw, it was the whole paranoia and mystery surrounding those creatures what made the first movies (and their first sequels so the argument of "it's been showed once so it can't have the same effect again" is invalid) such amazing masterpieces. Fans don't go to those movies looking for blood scenes or gore, we go for the thriller feeling of a sentient killing machine that is watching down on you from somewhere you can't see them. This movie is ironically showing way too much while ALSO not showing enough with their shitty camera direction. If you want to go all out, then go all out, but they softballed the gore with the dark pictures while also forgetting the tone of both Alien and Predator.
    Also the whole predalien hospital scene opens a lot of plot holes regarding it's anatomy and behavior. Where did it get the vocal ovipositor from if neither adult xenomorphs not predators have internalized ovipositors? I mean its mixed DNA so, where the hell did the predalien get that from, and even if it was the queen thats mixed with the predator, it makes no sense because theres a gap between the egg phase and the larvae phase. Why is it able to shove down several eggs in one go when its predecesor can only put one and it takes two days to do so, and the other predecesor is basically asexual because their kind only thinks about hunting? Why choose pregnant women when it was set before in the canon series that facehuggers would rather impregnate men? And why didn't its offspring go into the same breeding drive and impregnate every other hospital maternity ward nearby? And the most important, the original Alien would kill anything or anyone that didn't have its offspring inside, and the predator wouldnt kill a prey that has health issues or is unable to fight back. So basically, that is a HUGE conflict between two races when it comes to pregnant women, given that they don't have alien offspring inside of them while also being extremely weak and unable to be chased down. So how do you justify that kind of violence when it doesn't make sense from the get go?
    There's more plot holes, of course. But TL;DR, this movie sucks.

    • @captainhowlerwilson508
      @captainhowlerwilson508 4 года назад +3

      It was the scene itself that was disgusting for the sake of it. There are plot holes with the scene alright, but it was never established that the aliens only impregnate men.

    • @cogitae
      @cogitae 4 года назад +2

      @@captainhowlerwilson508 I never said "Only", I said " they would rather impregnate men". Only in AVP1 we have a female victim to becoming a host for a xeno and it was even cut off bc of the pg13 rate, the blonde chick with spiky hair. RIpley's impregnation in A3 doesn't even count because the movie had lots of plot holes from the prologue alone and no one liked the idea of her being a victim to the Queen bc it ruined the tone of the first two movies. Only when Lex and Scar get the real first position as main characters into action is that the AVP movie takes off in a good way. because that's what this movie series is all about, an ultimate battle between female warriors for the sake of their own kind.
      In all of the other movies the impregnation is done on men because the entire Alien franchise is a metaphor to sexual violence men do on women but with the roles reversed, as well as other sexual undertones that come from bdsm with the entire design of the creatures. Even the tiniest bit of Alien anatomy has a purpouse, which is why it can also become one with other races, depending on the host it will have unique characteristics and preferences. The facehugger with it's hands-like anatomy and phalic ovipositor is literally an analogy to forced oral sex, same way everything Giger did had to do with sexuality in some way. The art books on Alien concept art show further into this.
      That's why Alien3 and Alien4 were terrible too, because they missed the mark of that Alien and Alien2 were trying to evoke on viewers, especially male viewers of that time period. Alien1 is basically a fight between two intelligent females on different species. Alien 2 is a fight between two mothers trying to protect their babies (Newt on Ripley's side, the eggs on the Queen's side). So why would we suddenly turn pregnant women into easy targets for xenos?
      Because the men directing and writing this crap think pregnant women are weak and they wanted to reeeeally push the edgy card. Also let me tell you: even a woman pregnant of 9 months would at least try to get off the bed to get away from the thing even if they would have to waddle. Hell, they cant run but they can at least take cover, they aren't useless cows waiting to be breeded by xenos. The women in that ward just stood there to scream awaiting death as if they were inmobile from the waist down. The first pregnant waitress is justified because she was attacked by surprise, but the ward? That was just a wreck.

Aliens are a species that will grab and impregnate any creature that doesn't prove to be an immediate threat they must dispose of. Honestly, there isn't a good answer as to why the predalien only focuses on women unless it really knew it could get more aliens out of the mix. What is interesting is apparently the predalien is a deadend, for it can only create more aliens.

In Aliens they show the blood cause bad chemical burns to Hudson's arm, but it didn't fall off or burn down to/past the bone. Strong acids more readily dissolve metal, while strong bases dissolve organic compounds better.

    I thought that both AVP as well as AsVP were abysmal abominations. However, in my opinion the latter was better than the former. Apparently, they'll be releasing a 'special cut' of Aliens Vs Predator, that'll have deleted scenes released to the public. One scene will show the Predator going to McDonalds and ordering a large Big Mac meal, later killing everyone in the restaurant because they didn't put enough Mac Sauce on his burger.

      100% the second one is better. Both have complete garbage human characters, so that's a wash. Both have decent xenomorph monsters, so that's a wash. I disagree. It was absolutely unnecessary. I don’t mean have no gore, I mean have it for a reason, and this film had to it for absolutely no reason at all. Stop excusing this stuff. They went too far with the gore because they thought that was only what the audiences wanted. The story sucks, the characters suck and that hospital scene is the epitome of fanboys not understanding the lore of a universe, and just thinking they can go all out with something like that. That is just vile and disgusting and should not be defended at all.

    Agree with the comments about the hospital scene completely. You just can't do that shit. I get that there' always gotta be a pretty gnarly scene in an Alien movie, and they're always trying to "raise the bar" and that... but I hate seeing anything to do with kids dying in movies, especially so horrifically. It's just a line you don't cross. That scene got me really angry.

    • @Gadget-Walkmen
      @Gadget-Walkmen 8 месяцев назад

      Lol just no. It’s fine for kids to die when it’s obviously going to lead to that. Be real, when there are facehuggers and xenomorphs around, there ARE going to attack everyone around them, that includes kids. Making steps in order to avoid kids getting killed is just shamefless spineless censorship. The hospital is unnecessary because it’s too hyper specific for it to happen, but a kid having a face bigger implant eggs inside him is 100% plausible and that’s IS something that will happen.
      That’s a like that you SHOULD cross to convey that no one is safe. The pregnant woman scene isn’t necessary but the child chestbuster scene is. You CAN do that kind of stuff. You just need to stop being so squeamish as you are, seriously.

    I actually complained about this to FOX, I saw it in the theaters and it was NOT that dark. Somehow some black filter got thrown on top of the Bluray release and you really cant see anything thats going on. Prime example, when the kid gets his face melted about half way through the film, you could see all of that detail in the theater and I believe the DVD is actually okay with this too, but the Bluray, its insanely dark and thats not how the movie is supposed to be. I have no idea what happened and no release has ever fixed it either. I didnt hate the movie like you did and yes its stupid but that was fine for me, its still better than Resident Evil the Final Chapter and I was sad about how horrible that turned out, lol.

    AVP wasn't "great", it was absolutely awesome, and not at all "dumb", but rather misunderstood and underrated. AVPR had a big issue with the lighting, there's absolutely no denying that, but I'm still very much just as fond of this film as with the first one and holds essentially the same opinions in regards to it being very underrated. Also, this isn't about "a Xenomorph walking around a small town", but rather it's about a terrifying new Predalien leading a horde of other Aliens on a nightmare slaughter through a small town and essentially demonstrating what a Xenomorph infestation set loose on Earth would look like" and again, it's absolutely awesome, though the lighting is still a big problem, and there are minor problems that could have been improved as well, noting that some of the gore was very disturbing and I'm not sure whether to see this as something positive or negative (and it was clearly not presented as something we would be okay with, but rather as something terrifying and haunting that would probably happen during such events), but otherwise I love this movie and I'm very much serious on that! In regards to Eddie the cop talking to Dallas the convict about everything that's going on is because THEY ARE CLOSE FRIENDS, which is revealed if you pay attention. AVPR's tribute to Predator through the "Get to the chopper!" line wasn't even that bad! Sure, it could have been better, but it wasn't THAT bad. xD And I still don't understand why you expect there to be some sort of "happy ending" to these films. The ending was epic, intense, and absolutely great (not intended to have us feel okay with it, but experiencing the incredible horror that the people in the film experienced), again something which would be pretty much expected during a Xenomorph infestation after the military is made aware that the entire town has been rapidly dropping in its population and is suddenly exposed to some completely unknown threat that could soon expand to other parts of the country with no apparent means of stopping it, so they drop a doomsday weapon on the already lost town, perfectly reflecting how a Xenomorph infestation on Earth would indeed be a doomsday event. I'm still waiting for the sequel.

      First off, it's highly likely that we will be getting a third AVP, especially seeing as Fox has always been interested in the shared universe (including a continuation to AVP), which has become a big topic of discussion in regards to Shane Black's The Predator. Second, AVP isn't "dead" by any means, it never even got close to dying, it's always been alive and well both over at Fox as well as throughout the fandom. Or to quote Black, "I don't think AVP is dead, do you?" and I feel that this comment sums up this whole issue pretty neatly. Get real. xD

    It's interesting to point out that the trailers for the movie are much better lit than the movie itself. You can just watch the trailers instead of the movie because they give away so much like the deaths of certain characters, parts of the fight at the end, and even the Predalien and Predator killing each other. Except now you can actually see what's happening.

      When the _trailer_ has better lighting than the end product, you fucked up.

    its literally shot like a damn B Movie Direct to Video. Blows my mind this was a theatrical high budget release. Who thought this lighting was a good idea?!
