@@fp323 because Jonas's lack of training and the terrain. Pog is punchier on shorter steep climbs, and Jonas does better later in the Tour when they have fatigue and longer climbs
Vingegaard dropped near the top is and then gapped on the descent is no surprise since he had not been on a bike training for 2.5 months after his massive injury and then only got on a bike 6 weeks before the TDF. Tadej and UAE will in yellow in Nice but the reality is that it’s not the way he wanted to win which was to defeat a fully fit Jonas and VLB team. He will have to wait until 2025. As to Remco and Roglic they should be doing better esp Red Bill Bora. It amuses me how ITV’s commentators play up Tadej as beating Jonas as an equal when in reality is that Tadej is beating a rider who is not fully fit due to injury. Jonas is doing an amazing race
So glad to see your form Jonas -- I agree your time will come. We are blessed to have two strong rivals who are also classy sportsmen and fierce competitors.
Yes they did. Their hope is to crack Tadej on a queen stage and gain minutes on him, like the last years. Jonas is looking quite good. Tadej does not have this in the bag at all.
@@flact75 Jonas is going to get stronger, and Tadej might start feeling the Giro. The fact that the gap is still quite small, is a victory for Jonas. Everyone expected Tadej to attack Jonas at the beginning of the tour, and so far, Jonas is holding on very well. The last years, Jonas was a lot better than Tadej. This year, it's quite even, the dynamic could very well shift towards Jonas
It is very impressive. But it is also impressive that Pogacar is so strong after racing so may races prior giro and giro. People underestimate how much that effected his aerobic and anaerobic thresholds. He did training camp after Giro, but it is hard to expect Tadej race well for 3 weeks after so much time spending above Threshold in last few months
Could you please not have dreadful background noise on your broadcasts, it ruins videos? Hard to understand you with dreadful soundtrack. Why Charles Aznavour track?
I love Jonas. But... he didn't come to the Tour to run second. He and the team had to think he was in top form and ready to challenge Pogacar. So, he and they are not happy that he's keeping it close. I hope he rides himself into better form and is stronger in week 3, like he usually is. Roglic also tends to get stronger in the last week of Grand Tours. It just may not matter if Tadej has a 5 minute lead by the time they get to the last week. He's just on another level right now.
Seriously, no team like Visma enters a stage planning to lose 2' and just basically throw the TdF in the garbage. Superb media training and confidence showed by Jonas.
@Rodcarv: You Don`t throw tdf in the garbage with 2 minutes loss. Vingegaard took 7 minutes on Pogi in the 3rd week of tdf last year. And even if he can`t catch Pogi, he surely Can end up in the podium.
Jonas broke most of his upper body 3 months ago and sustained lung damage. He has only had 6 weeks of proper training and no race riding before the Tour de France while Tadej is on his life's form. Of course Jonas and Visma were expecting him to lose minutes in the first week which is usually Jonas' weakest week.
I dont think he meant it as a dis. More stating that on the long straights pogi would be able to reach higher speeds just by being heavier. Which isn’t wrong either.
How does Visma expect to lose 2 minutes in the first 4 stages and tell it to viewers with a straight face? I mean, if that's their story now, they must have been spinning tales before the race started, right? :-) Because, you know, losing time in the early stages is just part of their master plan to keep things interesting. Maybe they're just being super honest about their strategic incompetence or need a copious amount of Tuborg to dull reality! Oh well, who cares, right? It's all just a game with the UAE train zooming ahead.
They have a master plan? Where was support for Jonas going up that mountain? They, and Ineos, and Bora, and anyone else who fancies their chances in the GC needs to look at today's tapes to see a master class in teamwork -- and having a plan -- as demonstrated by the clinic UAE put on. Yikes, Ayuso even stepped on the gas at the end, when he must have been half dead, to make sure Roglic did not collect extra points.

Jonas is very humble, I think that is why fans are generally ok with him and he is one of the favorite. Pogacar is just too strong and crack the rest of riders on the climb
What a scolding Almeida gave to Juan Ayuso 🤭😅 At this point, with just 4 stages, Vingegaard has done very well. From Pogačar as expected. The Dane must still survive in the time trial to have any chance. Vingegaard lost more on the descent and on the false plane because they were going 90 km/ph. Only 11" on Col du Galibier. He did well not to despair The good thing is that Roglič, Remco, Carlos Rodríguez, Ayuso showed up. This type of ports is not a problem for Evenepoel, his Achilles tendon will be the chained ports. He must have a big advantage in the time trials if he wants to make the podium. Ayuso. If the "gregarious" does not explode, he is not really a gregarious. Mikel Landa's problem is that he will lose a minute in the time trials. But he is a great physical and moral support for the Belgian. Tadej's only rival at the moment is energy dosage. Allez Allez Jonas Vingegaard 💜
The problem that visma don't really have a climbing team, especially after Kuss has quit the race, seems to be even a bigger problem than Jonas is in ICU just 3 months ago. (Well, I mean, normal human beings suffering from such crash is probably still on their beds)
What's apparent is UAE have the money and so the best team, especially in the climb. Jonas team couldn't keep up to help him, but considering he's coming back from injury he's giving Tadej a run for his money which is great to see and very entertaining!
Jonas will grow into the race it’s going to be close! Also a huge amount of credit should go to Carlos Rodriguez give him a year or two and he could challenge to win Grand Tours including TDF. Might even steal 3rd place on podium this year
It's still very likely that Jonas' form takes a bit more of a plummet later in the race. Look what Jumbo did to Pogi after he missed training with a broken wrist. That form dip will take time.
I think Jonas is using these races as an extended training program as opposed to a purely racing program - it is a change of mindset that builds both fitness but also confidence. Beware Tadej - all is not as it may seem.
Its worrisome when Jonas said " my time will come" ...he seldom express stromg words let alone he is still tendimg to his injuries...war is coming these weeks....

@@Nyelands he Wait for Support 😁. it just sound not nice. We all know what means. But to say like that you dont know to lose.
Week 3 scenario:
Interviewer: Jonas, you're trailing behind by 9 minutes now
Jonas: I had actually expected 10
😂😂😂
:D yes can anyone imagine why they would have expected to lose much time in the first stages? Because of Jonas' form due to the crash? Or it was just supposed to tell the public "everything goes as expected'?
We are blessed to have two strong rivals who are also classy sportsmen and fierce competitors.
..and also doped to the stratosphere.
@@randallflat2010 How tedious.
Still early days. High mountains awaits
Pogacar has a great team but not so sure Jonas can say the same.
I agree what was TVL thinking when they chose this team. Matteo J was the best option????
True champion you got this jonas
Jonas will grow. Luckily the big mountains are still far away and he will get at the top. Pogacar will lose energy
They never expected to lose 2 minutes, he's just trying damage control with the media.
No they literally said that at the start of the tour
Esperaban perder la gira en las primeras 4 etapas 🇲🇽🦅
Yes they did. Their hope is to crack Tadej on a queen stage and gain minutes on him, like the last years. Jonas is looking quite good. Tadej does not have this in the bag at all.
@@patrickbateman7444 Believe what you want. Jonas is lost without his teammates, If he doesn't have an escort, Tadej will cook him.
Riding this good after his massive crash is impressive itself
It is very impressive. But it is also impressive that Pogacar is so strong after racing so may races prior giro and giro. People underestimate how much that effected his aerobic and anaerobic thresholds. He did training camp after Giro, but it is hard to expect Tadej race well for 3 weeks after so much time spending above Threshold in last few months
He still has every ability. Jonas stay strong
you mean he has sepp last year? and roglic prior?
@@nubee.pkunite Did Pogacar had a GT on his legs on those two occasions where he was destroyed by Visma? He can easily crack on the 3rd week.
Could you please not have dreadful background noise on your broadcasts, it ruins videos? Hard to understand you with dreadful soundtrack. Why Charles Aznavour track?
Shocking how great he is after injuries like that less than 3 months ago
I love Jonas. But... he didn't come to the Tour to run second. He and the team had to think he was in top form and ready to challenge Pogacar. So, he and they are not happy that he's keeping it close. I hope he rides himself into better form and is stronger in week 3, like he usually is. Roglic also tends to get stronger in the last week of Grand Tours. It just may not matter if Tadej has a 5 minute lead by the time they get to the last week. He's just on another level right now.
Heroic ride from Jonas, credit where it's due.
His time may come but Jumbo looks disastrous this Tour.
YES!!! OUR time WILL come!! Well done to UAE and Pogo, but our time will come :D haha :) God I love the tour!!
Of course Jonas and Visma were expecting him to lose minutes in the first week which is usually Jonas' weakest week.
so many excuses and yes, great media training lol
Yes.. BS lying from this team always
his team is probably realistic enough and know jonas chances were slim to begin with this year.
We are so lucky to experience this rivalry!
What is sad is that his entire team was dropped by UAE
All i have to say is "My time will come"
I like Jonas, but Tadej is just amazing. He does every thing so well, and a great human being, even when loses. Come on tadej
Such a disrespectful- “the gravity helped Pocagar “
Is not the same by climbing? 🤔🤔🤔
Jonas is never disrespectfull ! We all know that
Good one...😁
Lol 50 sec is nothing jonas will destroy tadej in week 3 like always
They have a master plan? Where was support for Jonas going up that mountain? They, and Ineos, and Bora, and anyone else who fancies their chances in the GC needs to look at today's tapes to see a master class in teamwork -- and having a plan -- as demonstrated by the clinic UAE put on. Yikes, Ayuso even stepped on the gas at the end, when he must have been half dead, to make sure Roglic did not collect extra points.
It is almost like every stage have a different profile which makes planning and visualization possible?
@@VLind-uk6mb "Oops, dropped my sandwich at the col du Galibier start-there goes 2 minutes!" And hey, who needs reality when you have Tuborg for the Danish anchovie fans to wash down the disbelief, right? Meanwhile, we'll all be eagerly watching to see if they can turn this epic saga into a comeback of the century. Bravo, Visma, bravo!
@@TheSuperolleman Oh, absolutely! 50 seconds? Pfft, that's nothing! Jonas is just biding his time, casually sipping his espresso while planning his Week 3 domination over poor Tadej. I'm sure his fan club is already drafting the victory speech for him, complete with fireworks and a victory parade through the Champs-Élysées. Because we all know, Jonas's Week 3 magic is as reliable as gravity-it's just a matter of time before he turns those 50 seconds into a victory lap. Stay tuned for the ultimate cycling spectacle, Danish anchovie fan boys! 😄
I'm glad he's got back his form..but he's not the same rider with the same form. ..and I don't think h'll get better as the tour goes. i think it'll be a case of deteriorating as it goes.
Remember guys, last years tour was won by 7 minutes. JV is normally the best in week 3 so this is far from over.
There’s a fair degree of gamesmanship in this intvw. He’s done well tbf to even get to the race so it’s game on. Next big test is the TT on stage 7.
Great questions by Daniel. If one shows up to race it's lame to say you already knew you were not good.
@ankurbagla4057: You might want to run the clip one more time, cause that is not what he Said.
Class act, rooting for Pogi but nothing but respect for both of them. Love the battle!
2025 is gonna be jonas vingegaards year if he doenst crash and his teamates is doing well❤
I can’t understand how people can hate on him
who hates him? choosing another favorite is not same thing as hating.
internet is democracy of faceless trolls.
He does nothing for the race, just waits for Pogi bad day. Thats one reason.
they're just plain miserable people, ignore them.
@@markotertinek4433 it’s this against the rules? Btw you watched the attack on the stage 5 in tdf 2023, or when he attacked pogi in 2022? How can you say that he just wait for pogi having a bad day? Just because he blowed up last year and he started pushing
@@markotertinek4433what a fanatic ha ha ha....
Jonas, believe and achieve!
Jonas is very humble, I think that is why fans are generally ok with him and he is one of the favorite. Pogacar is just too strong and crack the rest of riders on the climb
Isn’t gravity “just a theory” say the creationists watching this.
Expecting to loose, careful of what u wish for bro ....
What a scolding Almeida gave to Juan Ayuso 🤭😅
At this point, with just 4 stages, Vingegaard has done very well.
From Pogačar as expected. The Dane must still survive in the time trial to have any chance.
Vingegaard lost more on the descent and on the false plane because they were going 90 km/ph. Only 11" on Col du Galibier. He did well not to despair
The good thing is that Roglič, Remco, Carlos Rodríguez, Ayuso showed up.
Pogacher due a crash . Too arrogant
The problem that visma don't really have a climbing team, especially after Kuss has quit the race, seems to be even a bigger problem than Jonas is in ICU just 3 months ago. (Well, I mean, normal human beings suffering from such crash is probably still on their beds)
He says “to be honest” quite a lot. Another rider who used that phrase a bit too much was Chris Froome.
Might even steal 3rd place on podium this year
I didn't know Guy Pierce coaches Visma
Looking back through the last few Tour's at Pogi & Jonas' rivalry, it's been excellent to see their mutual respect of, and kindness to one another 💪
It's still very likely that Jonas' form takes a bit more of a plummet later in the race. Look what Jumbo did to Pogi after he missed training with a broken wrist. That form dip will take time.
The tour is long....Tadej better keep his powder dry. Visma will start chipping away in the 3rd week.
I think Jonas is using these races as an extended training program as opposed to a purely racing program - it is a change of mindset that builds both fitness but also confidence. Beware Tadej - all is not as it may seem.
I'm pretty sure, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't they using the same "gravity"...?? 😆
Its worrisome when Jonas said " my time will come" ...he seldom express stromg words let alone he is still tendimg to his injuries...war is coming these weeks....
Visma is Full of S...
BS 😂
If you expect to lose time then you have already conceded a win for the tour. I guess it's just a recovery tour. Good luck with that.
He will win easily... He's basicly at the level of pogacar... pogacar is really good at 2min efforts..unbeatable... Jonas will get him on the long steep climbs...
It's nuts how good he is after his scary crash, dude was hospitalized for 11 days, 4.5 weeks ago
delusional nonsense... come back and three weeks and comment

@@stephenmokoena2459 i'm belgian.. Remco was solid, can't wait for the tt.
Jonas may regain top form by the end of the tour.
But it's already too late for him to win it.
Barring any unfortunate event, of course.
He should thank Remco and the others who came back and rode with him. Remco should have accelerated away from him and increased his lead over him.
I don't think Jonas sees Remco as a threat.
We all know this type of climb suits pogi more than Vingegaard so aint surpriced over the result
It’s only stage 4. We have 2 1/2 more weeks of bicycle racing to go.
