Thanks for the lesson. Seen them made that way before and never thought the haywire would hold but I've been watching you bring fish in for years now. I'm sold . Making my own this week.
I am back fishing after 35 years after a break from salt water fishing. I bought some steel leader line to make home made clay jigs, but didn't have the part where the hook attaches or the line to the fishing line. This is wonderful to see how to do it. I bought 23ga wire and this will certainly be what I use.
This is a great video with great instructions Steve. "Winter" in Tampa has brought the clear water back and I will be making these for mackerel. Thank you so much for the help, it is very much appreciated!
Try bending the wire in the direction to continue the circle. Not make it straight or bent away from hook circle. Think about what that does when using a circle hook.
I know you are from the west coast. Did you learn this for surface irons? I know lots of older salty people use wire to tie on yo yo jigs and surface irons for fishing for big yellowtail and tuna.
When the sharks skin runs against the line it can cut regular line. Also the if the toothy critter swallows past the wire the thicker leader has more protection so it can slip through the teeth and the circle hook can do its job
Hey Steve, did you ever retract that statement you made in your Sep. 15th 2019 video, @ 16:50, where you said, " I wouldn't be surprised, with all this global warming stuff, that we get hurricanes in December this year"? I haven't watched any of your videos since that fact-less statement was made. I'm sure that you would also have a problem with finding any creditable credence with someone who makes such an outlandish and completely false allegation regarding such agenda driven matters, maybe not. I like your videos, I am a South Florida fisherman, but I refuse to be lied to by a potential globalist weather speculator. This concerns me! If you have retracted, explained, clarified, deleted or apologized for that statement, I and I'm sure many others would like to revisit your channel, so please provided a link or details where you explain and remedy this unfortunate situation.
Just viewed this video and found it very useful. Love to know more about the wire you're using and possible sources. We catch some 20+kg Kingfish here and these rigs might be very handy. Thanks! ~12k miles East of Key West (26.728143147975665, 50.105837528134494)
This is single-handedly the BEST video I have seen on the Haywire twist and Albright Knot and how to rig mono to wire leader for live bait.

What brand wire do you recommend?

The only reason I asked you this because I'm allergic to polyester
Check out the S/S t-shirts at the top
This is great " Adult Content " !!
Absolutely perfect! Thank you 💯💯🔥🔥🔥🤜🤛
will this work with braided line to a wire leader?
So do you have a main line, mono leader and wire leader? Can wire be connected directly to braid?
Good video, mmkay!
Thank you
Nice knot..
So everywhere i look up the albright it shows the tag end leaves the loop the same way the line came in?
Is it just mono and wire leader or main line after the mono?
What test is that wire please what do you use for big fish
What is the purpose of the thick mono leader?
When the sharks skin runs against the line it can cut regular line. Also the if the toothy critter swallows past the wire the thicker leader has more protection so it can slip through the teeth and the circle hook can do its job
@Hugo Adrian Wilkins you still have to tie a knot to the swivel. Plus really good swivels are expensive and still rust.
hey can this be used on light mono... 10 to 12 lbs?
What is the price for fishing t-shirt
Do you have t-shirt 100% cotton??????
He's got a few on his website listed as 100% cotton.....allaboutthebait.com/collections/t-shirts

I tried to paste the web link but apparently RUclips doesn't allow it. Go to his website and at the top click the S/S T-shirt .
Darker background would’ve helped

People like you suck. Why are you so upset over someones opinion? Who cares?
@@seedee652 and barking on a fishing tip politically. What’s next? Asking if a farmer is from the same party before buying a watermelon?
