Glad to see the Squirt go. Had three of them, the scissors spring bar broke on all three. Tried the Gerber DIme and it was OK. Now carry the "Nextool EDC Keychain Multitool" which is halfway in between in size from the Squirt and the JUice. I find it the best compromise so far, almost as easy to carry as the Squirt but much more capable.
That Nextool you have seems to be also known as the Flagship Mini, that's the one I have, a bit bigger than the Squirt but imo it's better. I had the scissors spring on my Squirt break too but even before that they were pretty useless as they had a lot of play between the blades so thinner materials like thread etc just folded between the blades, and they couldn't cut thicker stronger stuff like paracord either. Also the Phillips SD on the Squirt is very soft and gets burrs and deformation every time you use it, the one on the Nextool is much better. The only tool on the Squirt which is better than on the Nextool is the file which also has a serrated cutting edge to use to saw through soft material but honestly I never used it and in general think that the tiny files and saws you find on those keychain multitools are too small to be of any use.
Victorinox Deluxe Tinker could actually be an alternative too. The pliers are probably even smaller but decently strong. Or find a way to put an XS Cobra on a keychain.
The Vic pliers are pretty much the same size as those on the Squirt in terms of the head size & thickness, but the Vic pliers are better as the tool fills the hand when they are extended, so you get more grip, more control and more leverage. I wouldn't like to lift a hot pot off a fire with a keychain multitool pliers but the Vic pliers (on my Swisschamp) do the job fine.
Btw I'm sure there are ways to put the XS Cobra on a keychain using s-biners or similar but it would be a bit ungainly. I carry mine in the 5th pocket of my jeans.
Everybody is not " aware that the leatherman squirt has been discontinued " . It's still not official, and the Squirt ps4 is not on their discontinued models page. The " proof " people have provided is not concrete enough at all, and I'm not calling it yet. I'm not calling it yet and neither should you, but time will tell who is / was right.
For me it's sufficient to know that they no longer replace your Squirt if you send it in under warranty, instead they send you a Micra back. That's pretty much all the proof I need of it being discontinued.
Buy the oknife model with the scissors as the main tool... like the leatherman micra. That's a good apples to apples comparison.
I didn't realize how much I missed your videos until you came back.
Its a Nextool Mini Sailor exactly the same but the scales are different. It costs 10$ more for the exact item. Didn't know that before I bought it.
I love the Squirt. Maybe Leatherman is going to release version 2.0?
Hello again, Doc
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 Again thank you
I have been trying one out. I do find the file on the squirt more valuable than the scissors on the olight.
I absolutely love the file on my squirt. Fixed a lot of random crap when I was doing janitorial work.
Intriguing adze head resting on the right corner of Doc's workbench. A new Snap-on hard grip chisel design, maybe?😉
A rebranded NexTool Mini Sailor

Identical to the NexTool Keychain Multitool.

Glad you're Back! I stopped eating Bananas, just so you'd come back.

R.i.p squirt
This is the re brand of Nextool that I think you and others reviewed before. Nothing new here
Yeah but I prefer the black scales over the light blue.
