    The color story of this palette makes sense in terms of it being "vintage" or retro. Pinks & aqua/mint were HUGE color stories in decor & fashion once upon a time. If you've ever had to renovate a pink or aqua tiled bathroom complete with matching toilet & sink in pink, then you know :D

    I'm pale with really blue cool-toned skin and I think these blue-greens are what I really need to actually be able to get eyeshadow to look green (greens always pull like a brown bruise colour 😂).
    I think this palette isn't going to the be most accomodating for all skin tones, which I guess would be a problem if you're a collector and want all of ND's releases. But she's already got so many warm and dark colour stories that it's nice to see something a bit different!

      I love to see this comment! I'm glad it's something that will work on the veryyyy fair skinned toned folks and something different from Natasha Denona. But I promise yall us that are darker are ALSO SICK AND TIRED OF WARM TONES.

    • @cccsssish
      @cccsssish Год назад +10

      Not talking about Lauren but in general, people are so used to warm tone palettes that every time a cool tone palette is released, they talk about it as if there's something wrong with it. Like it is flawed because for once it doesn't cater for them, or just for what they're used to see...

    • @cccsssish
      @cccsssish Год назад +6

      @@agirlyhasnoname I think this palette is going to work on many more skin tones that it appears. There's a reason ND used mostly dark skin models for her demos. But it does make me feel feen, not only as a pale person, but most as a cool toned one!

    I actually like that this palette doesn't have super dark shades< i feel like evry palette comes with half of the shades being super dark and not pale skin friendly at all. Like her retro palette has so many dark shades that look very similar on the eyes, I can't even use up all of them before running out of all of the lighter mates and shimmers. Not every palette has to be super smoky and dark, this one is giving icy fantasy and I enjoy that.

    Thank you for this video - as an extremely cool-toned person, this palette looks amazing on my face and is surprisingly dynamic. I never expect 15-pan color stories to be tailored for cool-toned customers, but this one is. It’s unsaturated and Evergreen was not as deep as I hoped either; I use Jazzy on the inner corner for that dimension.
    Mini Retro looks so different on everyone and it leans pretty warm on me. I was reluctant to commit to buying the full version until I heard how many warmer-undertoned influencers I respect were surprised by it.
    So cheers to the truly cool-toned among us who rarely get even this much diversity in 15-pan palettes. We’re a minority but I feel seen! Haha thanks again.

    It was definitely missing depth. And I LOVE that you are tweaking the palette in this video - one of my favorite kind of your videos. i also tweaked mine and really love the look I created the first (and only time) I wore it. I think your look is GORGEOUS, but I am used to seeing you in more neutral colors so this is definitely different and also less sparkly than you usually go. I hope you do a video with a look or two from your newly created palette once you’ve played with it. I’m always surprised how many creators never do the swapping out or re-creating color stories of their own with her palettes. It gives you SO many more options!!!

    Even though there are only 5 shades in the mini Retro I still find it more beautiful and more complete 💜
    And I think both the nearly neutral palette by Glaminatrix and the nouveau palette by ABH are more fitting as an extended versions of the mini Retro 🤔

    I actually went back and watched the video in which you made your own and I preferred that!
    I ordered mine and I just got a notification that it finally shipped but I’m worried I’ll be over it by the time it arrives to me. I was hoping it would be more of those muted greens and nuanced cooler leaning peach and pink nudes with a few sparkly multidimensional topper shades like the mini… but I feel like we got baby blues, one interesting green shade, multiple silvery taupes, and warm pinks. I think the problem was simply the fact that it was marketed as the larger mini retro instead of being marketed for what it is-a cross between the glam and retro with pops of blue.

    Value is definitely the word you looking for! All the greens in this palette are the same tone, different values. It’s strange that the greens in the mini are much more yellow brown swampy greens and these are so so so blue- i mean pretty but very different

    If I were to buy a ND palette, it would be this one, but ND is out of my price range. Maybe some day I will find if for a price I can pay on Poshmark. Mine came yesterday and i haven’t opened it yet but i think all of the reviews maybe point to the reason why Natasha didn’t make a midi with this color scheme initially-it doesn’t lend itself naturally to a great number of diverse looks. I swooned when i saw what your Metropolis looks like-ir would be dun to see that footage and to have a monthly palette mash up of her palettes put into a playlist

    The palette is so pretty, but I can dupe the vibes and make that my own. Am I going to buy it? No, but if it was a gift (doubt it ever will be), I would gladly accept it without hesitation. I did make my own version and had a matte black in it and a darker (getting closer to black) shimmery green that goes well with mint. My version was definitely more perfect for me, but as I said this palette is so pretty.

I cant honestly afford ND palettes because they are so expensive, but thank goodness for Mercari, Poshmark, Ebay, and FB Marketplace. If it wasnt for them, I wouldnt have half the makeup I have. Today, I bought the Retro Glam palette off Mercari for $40. I saved myself $30 which is truly amazing. It was brand new, never opened, never used. I am waiting for it to arrive anyday now. I am excited because I've never owned anything from ND. So, this is going to be a new experience. I came here for reviews, but all I hear is complaints. as of now im not getting this palette. I have the mini and really like it. idk it’s too sage I think for me. it lacks depth but i like how you tweaked yours. i think it’s what the palette needed.

    Okay yep, those swatches convinced me. I have a NYX palette where I mix a pink and a green color that are similar in tones to these colors and I LOVE that so I know I’m going to love playing with this color story

    I usually don’t buy makeup full price cz I just don’t find any makeup palette so out of the world to pay full price. To me - if you like a palette there is always something similar to it that is on sale. But this palette I bought in full price cz I thought it’s all cool toned and kinda different than most palettes out there. I like NDs formula and mattes are great too. I had a few minis from here. I like this palette quite a bit. I love my cool tones and I rarely get palettes with cool tones. So when I find one I’m very excited

    The Lime Crime Venus XL 2 had a few of those sage blue greens, and I wanted it for so long because of that. But when I got it I was so disappointed in the formula. Maybe this palette would scratch that itch.

    i understand how the color story is more of a retro feel, and i think the colors are pretty individually, but they're definitely not for me. it just reminds me more of like a Vintage Easter color story. The mini retro though looks so much more like something I'd wear. (this is coming from someone who doesn't own any natasha denona though lol)
    The look you did is super pretty and looks really nice with your eye color.

    I loved your creation in the end! Which brings me to a question for me (maybe a challenge for you?) If you had three ND palettes - metropolis, glam and love, which another midi would you choose, to gain the biggest coverage of a missing colours? What Im trying to do with my palettes, is try not to double shadows (cause Im too poor to own double colours lmao) and in my mind Metropolis covers a bit of bronze and maybe gold? Maybe a bit of zendo? Glam is glam, love covers a bit of retro maybe? Would you add another midi palette if you had to? Which one? Or would you not? (I also have mini retro and star if that helps).

    I love the video. I can’t stand that ND always adds a red to palettes where red has no place.

    I am laughing so hard because I can wear quite a few of these colors. Every single time you cannot quite describe the color and give it that green undertone, I chuckle. You are describing my skin tone. I have an olive undertone.

    so excited to watch the video! imo i was super disappointed in the palette and ended up returning it, the tones in the mini (especially the muted neutral greyish olive greens) were what drew me in and for the retro glam to be so.... blue and minty and generally not deep enough for my skin tone was just such a let down. plus i hated that it had a repeated brown shade lol

    Best review I’ve heard yet. My thoughts exactly! No depth really surprised me. Anyways…. The green look you did is actually flattering on you and is one of the prettiest green looks I’ve seen done with this palette. Your look is actually flattering on you, and it’s not flattering on everyone. I guess some people don’t care if it’s flattering on them or not, they just want to wear the colors they want to wear, so then maybe it doesn’t matter. But…. This look looks nice on you!

    I feel like most consumers don’t understand Natasha’s makeup style… in the way of how she puts a look together. She always adds three or four “blending” shades to each larger palette… she is really big on blending out the edges of each shade placed on the eye. I think this is why most people feel “disappointed” with the shade range.

    I have a lot of problems with this palette. I think, the main problem is, ND wanted to stay in the 70' colours, which are pretty muted and pastel. I understand that, but besides of some fun tiktoks we don't use just one colour over the lid today. Today we prefer light and depth and variation. So i guess, she missed it to give it a new twist. 70' but modern.
    Second, so much doubled shades, make the impression of leftover shades, that has to used now.
    Third, i love this kind of sage green, but alone it doesn't look good on me. In the worst understanding like "moldy", washed out, it doesn't work alone. It doesn't look good on the eye. It isn't flattering. On a lot of ppl i saw a review. Combined with a really deep burgundy matte (not that creme to powder bs!), almost blackcherry, it would work phenomenal.
    The fact, that you can switch shadows, is in my opinion the only thing that saves this palette. Hard, but my thoughts.
