Such a good man. I was very lucky to have trained under him for about a year in North Hollywood California. A very nice gentle dangerous man. Thank you sensei.
Matsuoka sensei . I miss his teaching .I haven’t been back to the dojo for over 15 years. Martial art big and small , no matter what it is works with right judgement and speed. It’s the automatic response and movement you train your body to move to protect yourself, well running away fast is one of them 😝
they broke off almost 30 years ago when seagal went nutty. They were together for like 20 years before that. Seagal gave Matsuoka his shodan. This is called his "new" style which he's been working on for 20 years. It borrows heavily from kokyushin, daito ryu aikijujitsu roppokai under seigo okamoto and Seiseki Abe. Also you'll be wanting to search the kanji to see results for those. 阿部醒石 and 岡本正剛宗師 The black and white one titled "Seiseki Abe kokyo nage" has matsuoka in it from who knows how long ago. Maybe late 70s. That's not matsuoka's form these days strangely enough. He's definitely iterated on it.
No, one of his students he took back to USA from Japan. He was with Seagal when he opened his dojo in Cali. He also did about 3 or 4 movies with Seagal back in the day.
Techniques that don't work, for use against attacks hat don't exist. You can go down the rabbit hole of structure and Ki as much as you like, but none of it works when you're being punched in the face.
Aikido is not a defense system as such, it is more like an activity, like learning saber or fencing or sword, that is, if there could be some other technique that very rarely can serve you, but, you would have to give yourself a chance very large more product of chance than training
@@rollingstone80 It's more akin to Cossack Sabre dancing. It will teach you the balance of the thing, it will teach you footwork, how to do some basic swipes and distancing - and of course, it can be great fun. And like Sabre dancing, if you try it when faced with real violence, you will die.
It all depends on how one trains. If you train in aikido as a traditional Budo, the way most people do, then yes one may have reason to doubt being able to use this aikido. But if you can get a couple of hard core students in the dojo and train intensely as a Bujutsu (more like Shorinji Kempo) with random attacks and hard ukemi, then I think one can more than hold ones own. It depends on the intensity of ones practice. Their are aikidoka that practice like this.

It would be such a treat to experience Matsuoka sensei's ki first hand.
Dib?
This is such a fantastic demonstration by Matsuoka Sensei on contact! Thanks for sharing, I know what we are working on tonight :)

Very smooth and fast!
Many things come from internal and very tiny moment. Not easy to grip it but nice to watch. Thanks a lot
Do many people ask him about the start of Above The Law and that Irimi nage.
Is sensei Seagal’s sensei?
No, not his sensei, his uke.

The lethal 'got your thumb' technique 2:35 👀
Full of Ki. This one is
Élève de Seagal ??
L'élève est plus fort que le soit disant maître...
Quelle technique 👍

They do work if you're hard to kill or under siege
