    Although many can speak the language, not many can explain it in such a way that is understood

    The "haffi guh" thing is something also done in my childhood patois, as well. It's always fascinating to see how people from other cultures can come to such similar answers. Great video!

    Sir please can you explain di patois word 'wudaana' for me

    • @ChatPatwah
      @ChatPatwah  Год назад +2

      This is way ahead (advanced level) of where we are currently…and is expressed a couple different ways depending on where on the island you’re from and the version of Jamaican you speak. Since there is no standardization of Jamaican other than the JLU/Cassidy system which I don’t use/teach I’ll give you an example of how that would be used and other ways it could be also expressed.
      It means “would have been” and is usually followed by a verb.
      Fi example:
      English: You would have been going if you had your money.
      (How you wrote it) Yuh wudaana guh if yuh did ha yuh money.
      (I would’ve written it) Yuh woulda an a guh if yuh did ha yuh money.
      (Other speakers may say it) Yuh woulda did wain a guh if yuh did ha yuh money
      Again…this is so far ahead of where we are so don’t confuse yourself…we will get there in time. Respeck 👊🏾🇯🇲
