You have a good grasp of how the classes interact with each other and I appreciate that, but for this type of build.. but I think you need to focus more on the level by level breakdown. Saying 12 rogue 8 monk is fine, but character builds are all about timing because the build needs to be viable while you build them up.

Good point. It's easy to look at something at level 20, but it's a different experience to actually play that character through all the levels and find where it's strong or weak.

Starting my first campaign and this is exactly what I needed!

How did the campaign go? Like the class?

Looking forward to your shadow monk/rogue video . Not seeing it in your video list yet.

I'm planning on doing one shortly. Trying to finish another cleric video first though

As a note... Turning something into a monk weapon with Kensai essentially GIVES it the finesse property. My brother has a Dwarf Kensai 5/Battlemaster 3 and he uses a whip and a warhammer. I guess it depends on how much of a stickler your DM is about "This doesn't explicitly have the finesse property". IMO whip is a good choice because you get a 10ft reach and you use your martial arts dice instead of the baseline 1d4

Ya, if I were the GM I'd be willing to work him players on stuff like that.

Wouldn’t Ranger also be a good fit for a Kensei monk with hunter’s mark doing extra damage and Ranger giving you favorite enemies. As I’m doing something similar to this and still trying to work out the kinks in anything that could happen. Reason why I’m thinking of Ranger is because of my dm let me have the mobile feat which does the same thing

Ya, Ranger is great too. I'm probably going to do a few more monk builds in the near future; I've rather neglected them of late.

Monk ranger with at least 3 in ranger with subclass of hunter with colossal fighter will get you 1d6 and 1d8 as bonus.

I think you should've gone more rogue here. anything with more monk, unless actually trying to main a monk, is usually the wrong call. in fact for a skirmisher type for either of these 2 classes, i'd rather pair swashbuckler with a caster class that has access to booming blade (or pick up magic initiate) or battlemaster/hunter/mirror image+sentinel for off-turn sneak attacks.
i think martial adept is not a bad feat. it's just that it's not a good feat. it's something worth taking in certain builds and at later levels.

I came up with a zatoichi-style character who can use cunning action to dash 80 feet and absolutely cut anyone down on turn one, and the slasher feat makes it absolutely NUTS!
