- Very good melee build that concentrates on dueling and separating enemies from a group and finishing them off. Also works well with other party members because of sneak attack.

Oooh this is exactly what I want. This will be my first time playing D&D period so thanks for the assistance.
Using this as a guide for a Tiefling Bard I'm getting ready to play!
Holy shit, same
@@gensworld4189 I guess I'm not the only one lol
Descendant of Levistus for the Ray of Frost cantrip.
8/15/14/10/10/17, then +1 Dex and Cha when you hit level 4.
I'd take 1 level in Rogue, then 6 in Bard, then 13 in Swashbuckler Rogue.
Two-weapon fighting.
This is similar to my character, but I picked up a level of Hexblade and might take it to 3 for Blade Pact.
For a more rp heavy game, I prefer to switch bard college to whispers and rouge archetype to Mastermind. I used that with an entertainer background to make a magnificent bastard circus ringleader.
I love players who are good at roleplaying. I was always better at strategy and numbers.
Level 5 half elf lore bard thinking about specing into swashbuckler rogue. Thanks for the tips.
No problem. I've been working hard to make the way I do my builds better. I'm actually making fully fleshed out characters now from 1 to 10. I just haven't been able or up to recording after my brother died. At the very latest I should have some new stuff by the summer.
@@colbornthunderhammerdd5e6 my condolences. My brother is my dm. Can't imagine...
Mmmm interesting I was thinikng in building one of these, but I was thinking bard 12 rogue 8, what do you think?
Sneak attack is always good
Thank you for the build! If I wanted to be more caster-heavy, how viable is Swords 17/Swashbuckler 3? Also my character dual wields so what're some good feats for this variation of the fish?
Duel wielder feat for starters. Yes swords 17 a d swashbuckler 3. My next build will be a request I got awhile back for kensei monk and swashbuckler rogue.
Swashbuckler also pairs well with the sentinel feat so they have to attack you or get a reaction sneak attack and they cant run or they take a reaction sneak attack.
Swords 17 and swash 3 is definatly viable. It's not too multi ability dependent. It grabs lots of skills with bard and rogue. You can also gimp spells like hex or hunters mark or haste to deal extra melee damage with magical secrets. Also spells like destructive wave and counterspell will always be welcome.
I'm doing this, but not sure if going Bard 6 / Rogue 14 or Bard 17 / Rogue 3 - I really preffer getting "True Polymorph" than a TON of damage on strikes. Help?
Well most campigns dont go to level 20. If you have a good group it's great if you can get true polymorph and should go for it, but if you're only going to play to level 10 or so sometimes it better to take the damage earlier. The great thing about d&d is that no two games are ever really the same, but on the other hand that means a lot of your choices boil down to the DM and the campign you are currently in. Great things come to those who wait but if you're not going to get the chance go for the damage.
If you grab Shadow Blade for one of your magical secrets you can easily overcome the loss of sneak attack damage but still get higher level spells plus that will be psychic damage which will generally be less resisted than whatever damage type you were using beforehand
how would you go about making a sword college battle master character? Best i can figure levels should prolly be 5 fighter 15 bard but I'd like a second opinion.
About the only other choice would be to go bard 6 because they get second attack at 6 I think and the rest fighter. Also which type of fighter were you thinking?
@@colbornthunderhammerdd5e6 battle master
Its manuevers plus bonus damage from superiority dice seem pretty compatible with bard flourishes
If it helps the aesthetic im trying to capture here is that of an fe swordmaster (but u know fit for d&d since cant just have an open hand and i dont want to great weapon for this)
would it be viable to take dual wielder as a feat?
Yah if you wanted to. I just did that to have a pure duleist
I made a similar character, but with the noble background and three levels into Paladin for Oath of the Crown for flavor and FUCKING SMITES \m/
what's with the copyright and registered trademark and bold spells around 11:30? what do they mean?
Dunno let me look
Could be just hit the wrong button.
Ohhhh the circle c I put for concentration spells
I put that so you could look and see which ones were concentration because you can't have multiple concentrations spells up at once so you don't want multiples.
Also I bold spells that might go good with the build. The hard part about making builds and saying which spells to use is that useful spells depends on the campaign. For example if the campaign is covered in water, water breathing is really useful. If the campaign is no where near water it sucks.
Any specific level progression?
I'd go swords 6 to get the extra attack chance for sneak attack then rogue. If you miss it gives you another shot at having a sneak attack. I've just recently added a level progression breakdown with my builds because I badly needed it. I'm about to change a lot of things. As an example I'm a theory crafter and I like to theorize but not all my builds are serious. Some are ideas for roleplay and others are for power game but here recently I've started separating them into roleplay and regular so people can tell the difference. I'm also adding a level progression.
I, myself, like Starting as a rogue, then going 3 bard, (so I start the college of swords), 2 rogue (so I pick swashbuckler as my subclass). Then I go my remaining 3 (or 4) bard levels. A level 7 bard can cast lvl 4 spells, which includes something called "GREATER INVISIBILITY", and I dont need to tell you how good this is. You are missing on blindsense but, I think its a worth sacrifice.
Anyway, after those bard lvls I take the remaining lvls on rogue.
This is my currently fave character
I have a sea captain fighter who is about to multi class into hard 😂
Is it really a good idea to build this as a tank? Wouldnt you be better off making a damage dealer using haste to get 2 sneak attacks per round.
Low HD and i doubt con will be very high.
