- oh i made a ranking video. i just wanted to do something once-ler...
This is of course just my opinion, you don't have to agree with me. It was actually kinda hard to put the different versions in order, since there are so many so good versions..
I also added some little comments on the annotations. And that was hard as well, I could've written "It's good" to half of them....
Apparently the colors and audio f-ed up.. oh well. (Once-ler's suit looks blue.....)
I really really like this song. If I hadn't seen some multilanguage videos of it, I would have probably never watched this movie. I'm glad I did, even though I'm a year late.

Russian is definitely my favorite
Same, but it's only one of my favourite, I can't decide. It sounds...idk how to describe it, but it fits well. Plus it's one if the three languages I understand (russian, german, english) and the translation is really good, some lines are even the same if you would translate it back to english. While the german translation is horrible, it's not making any sense, even French did better ('It's bad, but nevermind.' which is actually missing the point of the whole song, but it's still good).
The Russian one has an unique sound to it what none of the others have.

It is surprising (yet heartwarming for some reason) that everybody likes Russian! ^3^ And it's weird to agree with you on that - usually Russian dub is… not that good 😬

Tbh... The dub in many movie is really not that good...

I also watch most Disney movies in multiple languages, just because it is fun.
The Italian is that good because they hired a real singer for the part, and not a voice actor. So the dubbing is shitty most of the time in Italian, but the songs are cool
@@user-sg3im7rt2j The german version had an actual singer for the songs and a voice actor for the speaking parts, so both the acting and the singing is good. Plus it makes for a pretty funny contrast, when you compare the confident and in How Bad can I be even sassy and pretty sarcastic and arrogant singing voice to the quieter, not as confident sounding and more serious speaking voice.
Fun fact, since his speaking voice actor is called Florian Halm, and Halm means stalk or stem, he is voiced by someone who is named after a plant (or rather, parts of a plant). Ironic, isn’t it?

Ukranian is number one for me, it's just savage XD Also the Russian voice sounds a bit too young to me, Once-ler is like 20 something and the voice sounds like he's 16. Personal opinion tho ;P

The russian translation has got to be my favorite out of all of them. It's wonderful.
in my opinion the best onceler's voice is the italian one

So you're Finnish, and you put the Finnish dub very high. Funny, I'm Swedish and I would have put the Swedish dub very low. It's just that I don't like hearing James from Pokemon's voice coming from the Once-ler. And it's not just that they're similair, it's the EXACT same voice.
I do agree that the Finnish dub is good though, it's one of my favourites.

the smaller the country is the worse it is, in Croatia, a country of 4 million we have a handful of animated voice actors in the entire country, and they're not even 'pro' voice actors, just normal actors doing this on the side

I am Finnish and I challenged my English friend to learn Finnish laguage and she was like .__.
I like all of them, specially 23 (Catalan), 22 (Hebrew), 15 (Brazilian Portuguese), 14 (French), 11 (Italian), and, of course, 5 (English)... but my favorite of them all is 20...!! (Latin Spanish sung by Arturo Mercado Jr.) I really love it with all my heart...!! 😍😍😍😍😍

I like Slovene a lot too. I base my favorites on syllable count and fluidity, so it seems superior to languages like Czech for me.
I like movies where one of the actors speaks multiple languages, and can still cover for translations. Like, most canadian actors can speak English as well as French (Like me =)!) so you can hear the same actor throughout languages

OK BUT THE ONCELERS RUSSIAN VOICE IS..just..yes
My faves would certainly include Russian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, English, Italian and Cantonese. Though I love them all, and making a ranking would just be unfair.
I actually like Slovak a lot, just because of the text and the way he says it. The voice is bad.
And purely on text on text and pronunciation, I like Dutch more than Flemish, because the Flemish doesn't sound the way I hear it on everyday life. The 't' at the end of a word gets pronounced, which we don't, he says 'je' instead of 'ge' as 'you', contrary to what you'd expect from a Flemish person.
Also, all characters do that in Flemish except the Lorax, who keeps adressing the Once-ler in politeness form. Even after the Once-ler chops down the forest. Except when he calls him 'beanpole'.
I wouldn't be able to make a ranking. I like them all a whole lot.

Flemish is a dialect of Dutch, spoken in Belgium.
I think I like Flemish more as a dialect as well because apparently you don't have that "throat-sound"?
I understand Finnish and English. Some little parts of Estonian, Swedish and Japanese but yeah that's it :D

It's hard for Finnish to dub songs as our word laws are quite different and words overall have more syllables than usual. This leads to overuse of certain short words like 'vain' (just, only). Though I must say that this has been dubbed well enough for Finnish dub standards: "I can't be bad" if we translate it back. Not bad.

I REALLY liked the Korean and Russian ones, though the Norwegian was great too. Also found myself oddly liking the Turkish, Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Cantonese Chinese.

Incredibly late, but for anyone who cares, the danish version says "why should i be ashamed?"
i can speak 3 languages, spanish, brazilian portuguese and english, and i know some of germany,
but if we consider that Spanish in Spain is a language apart from Spanish in Latin America, then I know 4 languages and a little German
