Let's shop at BARBIE'S FASHION PLAZA 1975/76

- Hello and welcome back to another quick tour through one of my dolly displays! This structure was one I seriously wanted as a kid, but never managed to get. I did however find it factory sealed NRFB for $99 one Christmas a few years ago, so that was my great Christmas present to myself! It’s the 1975/76 Barbie Fashion Plaza which was a whole double story shopping centre for Barbie and her friends, featuring a bridal boutique, a beauty salon, a ‘fashion bazaar’ and an outdoor snack patio (with My First Barbie and Jeans Barbie enjoying a pizza and a drink!) It also has a working escalator with a pull-string that enables Barbie to easily travel from floor to floor! As with the 1962 Barbie Fashion Shop in a previous video, it’s a mighty busy day at the Plaza, where it is populated with lots of 1970’s dolls wearing a range of Get Ups N’ Go, Best Buy and other Mattel outfits from that era. The dolls include Barbie’s Sweet 16 doll, Ballerina Barbie, Funtime Barbie, Quick Curl Deluxe Cara, Barbie and P.J., Oriental Barbie, Free Moving Barbie, Malibu Skipper, Pretty Changes Barbie, and taking pride of place in the Bridal Boutique: Beautiful Bride Barbie from 1976 and the European/Canadian Party time Ken from 1977 in their original outfits! THE MUSIC 😍 I love the Fashion Plaza! It's that weird Best Buy era / Superstar crossover. It's realistically crowded there! Feels just like going to Erina Fair!
LOL 'Erina Fair!!!'😜 Yes, I love its era crossover appeal, too. The music is the instrumental version of 'Dancing Machine' by the Jackson 5 from 1973/74. That song always reminds me of 70's Barbie for some reason, so I had to use it. (I remember seeing some performance of it where the Jacksons were all doing those jerky movements with bent karate arms just like Fashion Photo when you put her on her stand! )

Thank you!!! 😘Yes!!! You pull a string that's attached to her stand (which has the ankle grips just like the soon-to-come Superstar Barbie stands!) and she slides up and down the escalator... Hours of fun!!! 🤩
I had that when I was very little. It was outside on the balcony and a hurricane ruined it. It was cardboard.
