How to check if my university falls under Washington accord or not ? Also, I thought the website mentions if the Country falls under Washington accord or not ? An i did see India in the list. After that should we check our university as well ?
Yes, after checking your country, you need to check your university as well. If you university is accredited by Washington then your bachelors degree would be directly recognized by OIQ.
The exam will be 110 multiple choice questions and you need at least 60% correct answers to pass. It will be an ethical exam and will be more on practical situation based scenarios. If you are well prepared and have the concepts clear then it shouldn’t be difficult. Make sure you study the professional guide provided by OIQ before you appear to the exam.
Hey thank you for your comment! The practical component has 27 competencies that you will have to show. What I did was I registered my experience in detail for each and every competency showing 1. Situation 2. What I did in that situation 3. What was the outcome. The more detailed your experience, the better it would be for you. You would have to self assess your competency with minimum level of 3. Once you are done registering your competency and experience, your experience will then be submitted to your supervisor for his/her evaluation. Once they approve, it will then be submitted to OIQ for final evaluation which will take at least 60 business days. Hope this answered your question! All the best :)
@@heyakamal Hello thank you for yoir comment. WES is very easy and straightforward process. You can go here applications.wes.org/createaccount/home/select-eval-type?ln=1 and select “Standard Application “. Just follow the steps and you should be good.
@@thefrenchdesi Hi, thanks for your reply. While I visit WES, will I select standard document-by-document evaluation or standard course-by-course evaluation?
How do we gain 2 years exprience under the supervision of a licenced engineer in QC? Does Oiq help us to find the job and the supervisor or it is on our own?
Hi, if you are having a technical job then chances are that there should be a licensed engineer working there. You have to approach him and ask if he is ready to supervise you. If the company you work for does not have an engineer, it’s totally fine. You can find an engineer from outside of the company. There is a list of supervisors who are willing to supervise and could be found on OIQ website. You can email them and ask if they are okay to supervise you.
During cip oiq application any french language level proficiency document required? If yes which one. Can i put document from my french school here Montreal.
Hi Nirav to get your CPI you do not need to show French requirements. Although you can give the French exam from OQLF side by side but it is not mandatory for CPI. And you will have to give French exams conducted by OQLF only. No other French test results would be accounted.
You may have to give some complimentary exams like engineering economics , health and safety depending upon where you did your bachelor’s from. Apart from this there is no such technical exam that you will have to give.
You cannot pass your ethical exams before you get your full equivalency of the title CPI. Once you have the full equivalency of the title, you will then have to do 20-30 hours compulsory online training from OIQ and then you will be eligible to give ethic (professional) exams.
Hi Fahimeh if I understood your question correctly then you don’t have to do anything until your WES report is sent to OIQ. You will get a decision regarding any required/missing credits only after they get WES report. Let me know if this answers your question.
Hey, the fees vary from person to person depending upon where you did your bachelor’s degree. Since my bachelor’s degree is from outside of Canada, (not covered under Washington agreement) I had to pay $955. You can know more here: www.oiq.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/grille_tarifaire-an.pdf
Hi thanks for your comment. The video focuses on candidates who have done bachelor’s degree (minimum requirement). I filled both my undergraduate and graduate degree when I originally did my application. Hope this answers your question.
Hello, Thank you very much for this video. I’m a graduate student from concordia and I wanted to apply for License and i know B2 level french but I don’t have any experience in my field, am I eligible for PE license in Quebec?. I applied for WES evaluation and when I need to pay fee for l’OIQ and when and where I need to submit my documents for order
Hello, OIQ will evaluate your bachelors degree. If you obtained your bachelor’s degree from outside Canada then they will evaluate the equivalency for your degree. They will recommend you additional courses that you will have to do in order to fill the gap for equivalency. And OIQ do not take TEF or TEFAQ exam results, they conduct French exam via OQLF. Once your WES evaluation is submitted to OIQ they will send you a decision of additional courses you may have to do. For submitting documents, you will have to email them. They will provide information on where to submit it. Hope this helps.
Did they accepted you or did they ask you do to more course, cause I have a Licence Diploma in genie electrique of the years with no professionnal background?
Amazing video brother. I would like to know more about the competencies and how I should fill engineering experience. Also, may I ask, can I apply for CPI before flying to Montreal?
Thank you Abir for your support! I will be posting videos on competences and engineering experience in near future. I would recommend that you come to Montreal and then apply. Like this you can contact them directly if anything is missing. And there is no added advantage of applying it from outside Canada so just to keep things easy and simple I would suggest to apply after coming here.
Hey thank you so much I really appreciate it. I enrolled myself in French classes provided by MIFI (government of Quebec). Also I had many French friends with whom I used to practice a lot everyday. Hope this helps. All the best :)
You are welcome and congratulations for your Ing. title ! I would have few questions if you don't mind : 1) How much was the OIQ CPI fee ? I am having trouble to understand their fees breakdown 2) Did they achieve the target of 8-12 weeks to examine your CPI application ? 3) Must the 2 years of work under an OIQ engineer supervision happen after you become a CPI ? Or does it count if you have worked under an OIQ engineer before beeing a CPI (i am currently a mechanical drafter in Québec) 4) Did you find the online training sufficient for the ethical exam ? 5) How long did it take before their final decision after you have completed the 3 "components". Did you have to pay new fees for this step ? Thank you !
@@botokely8988 1. Since my bachelor’s degree was from India, the fees for my application was around 950$. It is case specific and depends on your background.
