- Should you use a gaming TV or monitor for console gaming? I’m using the 77” C1 OLED as my gaming TV for the PS5, and the 27” LG GP950 Monitor. But which is better? Today I’ll explain why I prefer playing PS5 and Xbox Series X on my TV vs monitor, and what the pros/cons are.
Are you team TV or Desk & Monitor?

So this is why I game on a TV/monitor. But what about you?
I game on a TV because I already have one, I don’t see any reason to buy a monitor when I have a good TV.
Love from Karachi Pakistan ❤️.
I’m team monitor right now but definitely leaning towards team tv very soon
I so much prefere playing on TV that at a certain point I sold my gaming PC and my monitor. So now i've got an oled in the sitting room with the ps5 and I bought a second TV, a qled that's absolutely not as good as my lg oled to play with the Xbox series x in the studio. Best choice for me, no regrets
portable dvd player
Depends on the genre. For single-player story driven games, definitely a TV, but for fps, city builder or rts games I prefer gaming at my desk.
This
Well, that is exactly how this should work.

that's why you do a quick scroll down to the comments. That saved me 5 mins of my life. thanks
Team TV! Can’t beat the experience. I have the LG G1 EVO 65” with complete Sonos Arc surround sound w all the latest consoles. I feel blessed to own em all.
Yep great setup!

Rich guy
@@o.c.g.m9426 Hey, it's what happens when you make money. I also own a ps5, Vr headset, PC with the 3090, arcade cabinets, and a Sony Bravia outputting 4k 120fps. I am looking to buying a LG C1, it's the best of the best.
Me too brother. Feels good to work hard to buy expensive toys.
Since getting my PS5 late 2020, I've become team TV. I never thought I'd lose interest in PC Gaming, but All I needed was 60fps. Even in 1080p, my TV upscales the image so well that I can barely tell that it isn't natively 4k. And as you've said, the social experience is awesome. Now that my wife sees the majority of my gaming, she's actually started taking an interest in it. And even makes time to watch certain story games. It's been great. I'm honestly considering selling my PC, or downgrading to a lower end gpu that just lets me do some occasional emulation.
That's an awesome experience and one I totally understand and agree with!
1000% the same with me. I went through my PC gaming phase. These current consoles do everything I need.
Yeah, you can connect your PC to a TV, but the experience is nowhere near as plug and play (which is something I’ve grown to appreciate the busier I’ve become).
I have a samsung q70r the upscale when playing 1080p it's only noticeable on fonts but that's cuz it's bgr instead of rgb arrangement, also despite the TV having lower pixel response than the fast IPS the motion handling on the TV is superior than the monitor, and TV can interpolate or use BFI where the monitor only few can do BFI but limited in range. I'm interested in a LG C1 55" that handles Gsync for PC and has 4 hdmi 2.1 for my next upgrade
And which tv do you have?
🔥🔥🔥🔥Team TV with console❤❤❤
Team TV. Bought the LG C1 last year based on your review, very happy with it, thanks. Kudos to you✌️
Desktop 100% switched earlier this year and it's way better for me. I like being closer to the screen as it keeps me more engaged and allows me to enjoy the smaller details. As for sound headphones 100%. I love my LG CX and 5.1.2 vizio soundbar for TV watching but for games I like a more personal close up setup
It feels so good watching all your reviews on ps5 stuff, even though I can’t afford ps5, still feels like I’m playing these on console on my mind , the way you walkthrough me on your videos. 😌
Team tv! You hit everything spot on when it comes being more comfortable, having my soundbar and hearing the game around me. To me it's a better overall experience
I can never give up playing on my 77" C1 unless it's on a better oled of the same size or larger. That combined to a Dolby Atmos system just beefs up the experience to another level.
Yeah i have a Yamaha 11.1 Atmos set up with Dali Danish speakers lol. It's overkill but fun
Not everyone has the money to go drop 2 or 3 grand on a dam TV to play some video games 🤣🤣🤣
@@StoneyJOSH710 thank u bro becus i’m not spending 1500+ on a tv not happening lol and i get paid good it’s more so just doesn’t seem like a good investment to me
Love your videos so aesthetically pleasing to watch
Thank you 🙏
Perfect video ! I was waiting for this kinds of infos for a long time thanks !
This is a great review. Someone who actually plays actively on both. Well done!
Great video, now this is an interesting one. I find I end up in front of my TV which is an LG OLED C1 a lot of the time but definitely good to have both option's.
Totally agree, both options cover all bases. Thanks too!
I have a base ps4 and a thirteen year old samsung tv. Can't complain....😁
Always been a TV gamer, been using a 40" Sony since 2013, unfortunately it just broke recently so I've been in the market for a new one. I actually bought the 48" C1 but unfortunately it was too big and things seemed blurry. I'm going to look into the 42" C2 in the future.
Yes get the 42 new sony a90k
@@bratosin1 I've thought about it. I have to see the price and how it compares to the LG. I liked the C1 except for the size being too big (for me anyways).
@Bzake Blurriness was due to the larger size of the TV and how close I sit to it, not a fault of the TV itself. As I mentioned in my original comment, I'm coming from a 40" 1080p TV, so with 48" being a bit too large for my usage, the smaller 42" should be the sweet spot, higher pixel density and all.
@@bratosin1 why Not 80h its much cheaper! 😓 the c1 is cheaper to or LG c2
@@yoda3089 the man wants a 42 inch high density pixel
I just love your settup in your room bro. No wire at all nice and clean 👌 👍
Love the chill vibes of your vids 😌
✨
I’m still happy with my LG E9 OLED, it’s got all of the functionality I need for gaming.
As much as I would want a TV for the XSS, I have to go for a monitor (24") because I live in a small space. Less is more I could say. I have my laptop, monitor, and console all in one desk. Still, I am always open to changes and improvements, but the setup works and convenient for my current situation.
Would really enjoy a video of how you edit your videos man. Like diving into all the nitty and gritty things like editing process, audio, thumbnails, etc. I see you made one a couple years back which I continue to enjoy. Keep creating man! #bethelight
Team tv on my Sony A90J, another fab video mate, keep up the great work 👍
any team broke? lol
I have been playing all of my games on TV for the past 15 years and there's definitely no going back...I can play PC games on a 65 inch 4K HDR TV and everything feels so much more cinematic with my 5.1 surround sound system.
You have such a great set up man! I'm team TV for the same reasons as you tbh!
Your setup is clean! no cap man, one of the beatufils setups i ever seen actually
Seems like TVs have simply caught up with monitors now, in terms of responsiveness, refresh rates etc. It truly is a beautiful thing to have the marriage of the new-gen consoles and massive displays that can do them justice. Late to the party, I know, but I just finished the PS5 version of Uncharted 4 from the Legacy of Thieves collection and it looked so incredible on my C1 that I was almost in tears, lol. One of very few games to ever truly 'wow' me in terms of visuals.
Anyhoo, sorry for the rambling comment Spawn; I'm team TV/sofa all the way as I don't play competitive games. Cheers for another brilliant upload mate - can't speak highly enough of what you do 👍
What is a C1?
@@yoda3089 its an OLED TV made by LG
I’m team TV. I got the LG c1 oled and it’s so good! The image quality is insane and response time is great for games like vanguard. (Im using the ps5) I’m really happy with my choice.
Monitor is better
@@PookieBearAli1 Not for leaning back in a recliner it's not lol. I always get a sore back trying to do that and use a PC lol
Your game room setup is beautiful 😍
Your videos look awesome on my 77 inch c2!
I never really stopped playing games on my tv, even though I primarily played on PC from 2011 to this year. I have a 4k HDR monitor for PC gaming but as soon as I got an Xbox Series X back in January I switched back to being primarily a console gamer.
For the 11 years prior to that I'd played the occasional Xbox 360 game and then last gen the occasional PS4 game. That's all changed now with my new 4K Dolby Vision HDR tv and Series X. This current gen has finally caught up with the majority of gaming pcs by offering 4k 60ps gaming.
The ps4 does 4k 60fps
@@Daz007 No it doesn't, it does 1080p at mostly 30fps. The PS4 Pro does 4k in some games.
I jumped into PC gaming last year and I used a really nice 1440p 27" monitor for PC gaming and a 65" LED tv for my PS5 and switch dock.
Just over a month ago I purchased the 48" C1 for my PC...and I love it...I will never go smaller again.
I moved both my PS5 and Switch dock to the C1, so now I am in gaming Nirvana.
The C1 is amazing and it is nice having all my gaming platforms hooked up to one TV.
Although my PC monitor was really nice, I was never completely satisfied with PC gaming until I switched to the C1.
Now PC gaming has the same experiance as console gaming but with better performance and quality...I don't have to choose between performance vs graphics on PC.
Having said that, I still want the PS5 for those amazing must play Sony 1st party games...but I have started buying multi platform games on PC instead of PS5.
oh nice insight into your move over to the C1. Sounds like you made the right choice!
Love your videos
Spot on video, After seeing your space and setup, I am now questioning my life choices. Thanks for the motivation.
For me depends on the game. I’ve got a 55” LG CX and a 27” 144hz 4K monitor for my PC. For a lot of single player story driven games or racing games or games that prioritise graphics and visual experience like Uncharted 4 or something I prefer to go to the big screen. But for games like cod and battlefield (FPS) I’ll sit at my desk and as you do even move my PS5 to my desk if I don’t have the game on my PC.
nigga u rich
OLEDs are definitely making a huge impact on the industry because of how great they are for gaming, I'm excited to see how great they will continue to be. We really need 28' - 32' size oled monitors now which would be perfect for gaming.
That’s what I want, is a nice little 32’ oled.
LG OLED C2 with 42" is smallest you can get atm
Your reviews help me to buy LG C1
Thanks brother 😊👍🏻✌🏻
So jealous of your room, in a good way 🙌🏼
Team TV! I have an LG OLED TV, and no monitor can give that same immersive experience. And playing on a TV reminds me of the good old days with the NES and SNES 📺🎮
I've never really played on a monitor before but it does seem like a great experience for online MP games. Seems like you could really get in the zone by playing them on a monitor. I'm an all around gamer though, I play many different games and sitting back in my recliner chair and comfortably playing has always been the best experience imo.
Just try it its dope
My xbox/TV set up is so close to my PC, I just hooked up my xbox to the monitor. It made a world of difference, especially when playing warzone 2
Purple controller looks dope 🤩🔥
Thanks for the video! Anyway, what ONKYO receiver that you’re using there?
Somewhat similar, I have my PS5 plugged to the C1 and the Series X to a 32” monitor. The C1 just brings out that immersive experience from the AAA single player games of the PS5, just soaking in all those details. For the monitor, since I mostly play Halo, that’s where I enjoy the FPS games. Great video!
Im a 65in Lg cx user that does the same. Finally able to track down a ps5 for there great single player on my tv and then decided to get a monitor for mlb 22 and call of duty. The increased input response really help when trying to hit a fastball up and in and for dudes that come around the corner and get shot in the face!🤣😤
and one question how hot is the C1? I use a FALD Samsung TV and when using HDR I can feel it too warm
Since switching to console gaming on a monitor, I've never looked back. Once getting used to the size difference, I just find it more immersive and I much prefer to sit at a desk playing than sitting on a sofa/bed. It doesn't matter if it's competitive MP or single player, I use a monitor for everything gaming now.
Same as me
You my friend, are an elite gamer
Same here, it's just....better
love your videos dude im getting a new Xbox this weekend. any video game recommendations besides COD and Forza?
Team TV FTW! 65” Sony X85J mounted in my bedroom… it’s a joy and I feel blessed. :)
Hands down prefer to game on my 65'' Samsung TV & PS4 Pro! I work in the IT industry, so really don't want to spend more time in front of a monitor, after I have finished work for the day.
Is the It industry rewarding? Do you ever regret going that route? I was thinking if getting into some help desk position to get started and taking classes for certs
Depending on what I'm playing, I use an LG 34GN850 or a 48" C1 for PC. Shooters and strategy games are more enjoyable to me at the desk with a keyboard and mouse. I like the OLED for 3rd person games or when I just want to sit back in the recliner with a controller.
Yeh that makes sense too.
I'm the same I use a 34" Acer 144hz monitor with my PC for competitive shooters and a 43" LED for relaxed console gaming (soon to be an OLED)
some FPS are much better with mouse but cod and fortnite have strong aim assist that I recommend to use controller instead, I never had ultrawide but I had super ultrawide that is like 2 monitors wide and yeah it's the most valuable and distinctive thing about playing on PC
TV for me, LGE9 65 inch OLED, Sonos arc, sub and 2 play 3’s for rears. Lucky enough to have the Series X a and PS5. Love that 77 inch c1!
Got a c1 because of this video & let me say this tv is amazing for gaming!!! Thank you for the review!
I have the Alienware AW3420DW and a Hisense 65" U8G. Both are incredible, but I've been finding myself wanting to play on the TV more. Much more of a casual and comfortable experience. I do obviously prefer my monitor for Competitive FPS's like Valorant, but now I don't see why I would get games on PC when the PS5 + U8G combo is just so damn beautiful. Final note: monitors look worse because they have a strong anti-glare film over it, which really prevents it from popping like a TV, which I think makes a massive difference.
Same setup I just use pc for comp games too
I'm team TV, and especially now that my girlfriend has okayed getting either a C1 or C2 as a 40th birthday present soon 😃
That's awesome, great choice too!
Hello I love your gaming setup It’s so Cool where did you get your ps5 from
I prefer TV got my first Oled 65 CX for the first time for my ps5 and blue light surrounding sounds speakers just looks like ps5 room love how games are just changing in time love your videos and set up you kind of encourage me to get a set up that I love today thx
After buying an LG C1 48" and using it as my main PC monitor, all other monitors are dead to me and will be for a very long time until they can catch up in feature set, price and quality.
Totally agree, the C1/C2 range is hard to beat.
I’d say use a monitor for competitive gaming and use a TV for general gaming as on an OLED it is much more suited ESPECIALLY on story games. Totally transformative for that. Most games look much more impressive on an OLED.
I'm team TV for sure. Even for FPS games like Halo, leaning forward on the sofa is the move. I do love having my switch on my monitor though, nice for when a video is exporting and I want to play some animal crossing or a couple levels on Mario. Great video!
Thanks Tom! Yep, team TV it is haha
I’ve got Mario Strikers and prefer it on my monitor than my tv
Congratulations on the channel, what are you filming with?
Team Tv since i can relax after a heavy day and play on a big 4k TV
Sounds perfect.
I love playing on tv but i want the versatility of a monitor, a tv with more than 120hz is more expensive so i bought a 32 inch 144hz monitor
Nice setup love the leds on the TV too. Looks very good. gg I might move soon so it will be time for upgrades. Everything crossed. I'm more of a pc guy at the moment. This might change in the future though..
The c2 is so good. Old movies that I’ve watch on my last tv, look like new movies I’ve never seen before on the c2 and the sound. I keep thinking some one is outside playing their music in the car, but it’s just the scene on the tv. Sound is so impressive
I love that the really hard-core gamers still don't think tvs cut it haha. I'm like stop looking at your piece of paper or words on the computer about specs and just play. They will be extremely surprised how competative you can be with a tv lol.
Definitely team Monitor. I use an ASUS TUF 1440p 165hz monitor and it works great. IPS panel so it has nice colours and a quick 1ms response time. I think 1440p is a good balance of clarity and performance without breaking the bank with 4K..
Awesome and informative. What TV back light system are you using?
You have a great setup 👌 👍
Cheers Luke.
for my ps5 i perfer a TV. But I also have a desk setup for my pc for those more competitive games. just recently got my ps5 and i dont regret it. I feel there are so many games that are just meant for console gaming laying back on a couch or bed and playing for a couple hours its great.
no moniters are better as a tv tvs sucks
moniters all the way!
9 months later and yes monitors are better but for madden I still prefer a good 4k 55 inch over a 27 inch monitor
@@Rydizzle13 moniters are better then tv dude there easy to use for firestick and games
@@Tails-1iq again true but not for local multi-player madden and any other local multi-player game
TEAM MONITOR FOR LIFE!!!😆😆😅
Your picture looks great! What settings are you using for gamming? Mode, Brightness, Contrast, Color Depth, etc? Sorry if'n this has been asked b4.
I had to get one of those Galactic Purple controllers as well. 👍🏽
Hello I have LG CX 65 inch and us unreal best TV I ever have I want it go to USA for holidays but Corona happen so I got oled for PS5 plus I got certified ultra fast speed cable is Better then PS5 cable in the box
Nice setup.

Great video brother, I've request , could you please review Sony 8K tv. 🙏
nice video as usual
Dude you remember those days when you boot up your PS2 when your friends come over and play mortal combat or tekken and the winner stays on and there will be that one guy knows all the finishers and combos but in the end we all chill out on the couch with your friends .....good ol' days 🥺🥺🙁
You in paradise man 🤩
I started on tv, but found a new love for monitors as I’m a competitive gamer, and that small screen just makes everything so much snappier to my eyes.
Hi spawn
Can you tell me the code color of your room walls painting?
I really like it
I'm fortunate enough to have both a high refresh monitor and high refresh tv. The video sums it up well; more relaxed/casual gaming is better on a tv, whilst a monitor is better for faster paced games.
Love your content
Thank you 🙏
Team TV. Although it wouldnt be a sexy video, I'd also love a video going through your TV settings and how you optimise your picture quality on the C1!
I got two LG C1. One 65 inch for living room and another 55 inch for my den. Got a comfy recliner and Samsung he-q950a sound bar setup. What a delight to play games on my PS5 !!
I need a gaming setup like this
I would love to learn more about your speaker set up, amplifier, subwoofer if you have one and the center channel. I prefer TV gaming and want to set up speakers properly but am not sure how. I have JBL 305P MkII Speakers and a Sony Amplifier but it's not as good as I thought or I'm using it wrong
Let’s goooooo 💪💪💪 definitely enjoy gaming on a TV
Same haha
Hi Chris!!
After watching your videos, you've encouraged me to upgrade to the LGC1 65. And it's a beast !!
I love gaming with my TV.
You're the best, cheers!

That's awesome, enjoy!
I can go either way. The "top three" consoles that I currently own as of November 2022 are the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and a PS4 Slim. Right now, I have the Series X and PS4 Slim hooked up to my 4K 60Hz 75" Samsung NU7100 television (2018 model) in the living room, and my Series S hooked up to my 27" 1080p 75Hz monitor in the spare room for the best of both worlds. I have on occasion for a change of scenery moved my PS4 Slim into the spare room as well. I think you summed it up perfectly, monitor or TV each have their advantages. I enjoy both for different reasons also but probably overall I prefer the TV as well.
Currently im using monitor but if i can i will buy the C1 because i love chilling on the sofa 😁✌️❤️
Nice video as always 🔥🙂❤️
I recently bought the C1 and would love to know what settings do you use for it? Any chance we might one day see a video on your gaming settings?
Both of them have their charms.
For more “intimate” and intense gaming the monitor is the one to go for, but a little bit layback and relaxing casual gaming then the couch combined with a big screened tv take the price home. That is at least my opinion.
Got my 83” C2 OLED ordered from LG. My living room is big so it’s gonna scale up nicely. C2’s brighter panel is gonna be amazing
Hey Spawn do you have any headset recommendation besides razer? I am looking for a new headset.
Clean setup
Please do a review after checking out the AlienWare QD-OLED Monitor
I'm team TV. I recently got Sony x85j 43" that's been best tv I have ever own. I got ps5 to it and they work hand in hand. 4k 120hz with new patch for vrr it is great. That said I still got PS4 pro so I moved it to my work setup. Dual Asus screens, one being 2019 cod edition. 24" each I find gaming sit enjoyable on there. I play both 2042 and overwatch on both set up and agree the desk feels more focus. Great video as always keep up the amazing work.
I'm gaming on the LG CX48 and I'm super happy with it so far
I like both as you said TV is more casual for story driven games. And monitor is when you wanna try hard and focus more. Its awesome to use both
I got a new Samsung TV and a Samsung monitor and I will say the input lag difference is very small but just enough for me to prefer a monitor. I do play mostly FPS games that require quick respons time that gives me that small advantage BUT for story games locked to 60FPS then a TV is way more chill
Tv love your videos keep up the good work
Thanks Jordan.
Yep
I got a ps5 yesterday
