Layne said you don't really feel this song until it rolls off your tongue. He encouraged us all to sing it and really feel it. Stunningly beautiful song. Love the simplicity of it, the lights, the darkness and their voices.
Having listened to Cyndi Lauper‘s version many years ago I never realized just how beautiful the lyrics were. This really showcases what an incredibly tight knit group they are. I loved how they would pass the line from person to person. Each of them has such a unique voice, but it’s seamless. And we get to hear Layne’s heartbreakingly beautiful baritone. I’m so glad you chose this as one of their songs to react to. And I’m thrilled that you felt it was worth a second time through.
Yeah, this one has always really hit me in the feels too. I love that Voiceplay can be wacky and theatrical, but that's on top of them being wonderful musically to begin with, and it's nice to have a quiet one that lets them be more emotional.
They all had tears in their eyes while singing. So touching.

I'm so glad you watched this one. I've always thought that this song has been a hidden gem in their catalogue, but it's rarely touched on by reactors. The delicacy with which they approached it is just astounding. More than that, they made it feel and sound deeply personal, and that depth of emotion carries over into those absolutely crystalline harmonies. The dynamics of the song were also gorgeous; at times, the vocals sounded almost sunlight dancing across the surface of the water (weird analogy, I know, but I can't think how else to describe those rippling cascades of sound). Simply an incredible rendition of an already lovely song; I think Cyndi would be impressed.
Your description of the sunlight dancing on water is perfect. I remember hearing this song in my youth and singing along but I never really really listen to the words until this.
Layne breaks my heart in this one. He shows so much emotion. It's so beautiful.
I remember when Cyndi Lauper released this one. It's such an emotional song and has such an encouraging message. I lost it when Layne, Earl and Geoff all teared up. Geoff said it hadn't started out to be like that, but as they went along it kind of hit them all at once. This is one of their most beautiful songs I think and hits you right in the feels. Only Heart of Life is as emotional, and that was Earl's goodbye song.

Voiceplay at their beautiful, harmonious best! Voiceplays rendition of this is one of the rare songs that reaches deep into my heart and depending on how I'm feeling, will either make me cry or smile and feel peaceful! Love them all the more for what their beautiful voices make me feel as much as the enjoyment of what I hear! 😥😊💜

You’re so perceptive to notice Layne there, it took me many watches before I noticed. The song is already so emotional, and seeing him so moved that he’s unable to sing is just heartbreaking. I’ve always loved Cyndi Lauper’s original and VoicePlay’s version is so beautiful!!
I love this one Pure harmonies. very moving. This is one more thing I love about them , their versatility. Whatever style they cover they are just as strong. Just beautiful. I'm thoroughly enjoying your enjoymenst of my favourite group. I don't know what you have up your sleeve but two I love are Sh-Boom and Mr Blue Sky.
Voice Play reaches deep down into your soul with this one. This is one of my favorites by them. Layne & Geoff are two of the best arrangers of music.

That is lovely. One that is definitely better than the original.
I just wrote a long dissertation on why I prefer Voiceplay over the other a cappella groups. I just deleted it because I can't say it in words. Just listen to their music,

Yo, looks like you copy/pasted your video description and got the song title wrong. You wrote My Mother Told Me when the song is True Colors.
