I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your teaching techniques... not every great artist is also a great teacher :)

I was taught technique in art school, but we had so many classes and projects, I never had time to fully grasp the details, let alone practice them. I came out of art school with a bunch of supplies and no idea how to use them! Not to mention unfinished projects! So thank you so much for your videos -- you are so cheerful about the whole thing, it is easy to pay attention and it doesn't come off as complicated or impossible to achieve.

I am so excited to get started. Finished the cherry and apple and am happy with the result. You are a great teacher and have made a believer of me. This 71 year old is starting late but will be able to enjoy creating. Thank you.

I recently retired and am working my way through your tutorials after years of barely painting anything. The videos are better than most in person classes I’ve taken. You are an excellent teacher! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and techniques, I’m having fun getting back into it.

This canvas was pre-primed with gesso, so yes it did have gesso on, but not personally by me.
You don't have to have gesso with acrylic but it usually makes for a better painting surface and the ones you buy in the art store, that are white, have already been gessoed, so you're ready to go.
    Cheers,
    Will

Hey Shaddy, hope you're well. Yes, just using the three paints Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue and Burnt sienna. I often say two colours as in 'blue' and 'orange' and forget to mention the white. Sorry for the confusion!

Hi Cristian, it depends on the effect you are after. If you want soft muted colours oils will look the best, for strong vibrant compositions acrylics are great.
