    People have sked me how to paint glass. My answer is always, you don't paint glass. You paint the reflections off the glass.

    • @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris
      @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris  2 года назад +4

      Absolutely it totally is about the reflections on the glass that gives it the appearance.

    Very nice painting! How would you paint a glass jar, or container but it’s filled with something like flowers, a fish or grapes? Would they have some kind of reflection or bending?

    • @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris
      @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris  7 месяцев назад

      I would say that whatever the object is in the glass would have a distortion to it and in that way it will really bring out the realistic, transparency and reflection of the glass in that way so in essence, it’s more of an experiment and how you want to make that distortion, but what’s cool about acrylics as you know they dry so fast that if you don’t like an angle or the way that the distortion looks, you can always cover it up with your background color and get closer to what it should be or until you like what you see. I hope that helps and happy painting to you.😁

      I’m using a glass palette that I bought on Amazon a few years ago it’s really awesome and it’s easy to clean with a razor knife however I use plastic wrap to put over it just so I don’t have to clean all the mess later….happy painting to you😁

    What color were you putting down at 8:00
    Was it a grey or a lighter color of the background,

      Thanks for your question and feedback. So it was basically the background color to knock back some of that dark shadow color that was in the glass. I hope that helps. Let me know if I can try to help some more and happy painting to you.😁

    • @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris
      @TheAcrylicAsylumwithMikeFerris  Год назад +1

      Thank you for your feedback I appreciate that and yes, I always sketch my images before painting them. In fact, on the more detailed ones I have traceable images available on Patreon if you would like to check that out and in every video in the description box, I have a short video link on how I transfer images after drawing them on regular paper to the size of the canvas using wax transfer paper and a stylus which is nice so that I don’t have to erase a bunch of times on my actual canvas. Let me know if you have any questions or other comments and thanks again for all of your support and feedback and happy painting to you.😁
