great series. would have been killa if the daft punk "harder faster better stronger" sample was followed up by kanye's version of it. like a triple combo haha
You know, someone said: "Good artists copy, great artist steal" another one said "All artists copies, the good ones find new ways", there's no way a human can draw face without seeing one before.
Eliex Official that’s not true tho😂 like I’m sure when making a song you subconsciously take little things from other songs, but not everybody straight up copies other songs
After all these years, I thought We No Speak Americano was an Italian song. It turns out that the sample is Italian and We No Speak Americano is an Australian song.
Sampling is normal in music. Don't be thinking sampling is bad, and they're stealing it. As a Hip-Hop fan who talks to other Hip-Hop fans, I don't usually need to say stuff like this. Sampling is extremely common in Hip-Hop but as this is a video for pop music, I have to explain it for you lot who don't know music
MrQ.123 sampling was the basis of hiphop to begin with, haha. so it isn't a foreign concept. but yeah a lot of people seem to think sampling is inherently bad. sometimes it can get lazy or uninspired but generally its just another way to be creative

You're the man, Mike. We were begging for part 6 for a while! (Part 7, maybe?) Also "Blind Alley" was sampled in "Ain't No Half Steppin'" by Big Daddy Kane, as well as "Rump Shaker" by Wreck-N-Effect.
Michael Tan Actually I discovered last night after hearing the instrumental, it's "Funky Worm" by Ohio Players but it sounds like a combination of the two.
Did you know that in P!ATD 'casual affair', Brendon Sampled a 'anti-gay ad' from I think the 60' or so. I'm talking about this "be careful if a stranger seemes too friendly".
Thank you for actually knowing what a sample is. So many other videos on this topic are just modern 'copies' of the tune, not actually using the original audio.
When did he ever give shit to people for sampling? Did he ever say "This song sampled another song so it sucks" or something along those lines in the video or in the description? No.
Skrillex disproved the first sample by showing how he distorted the vocal adlib from the pre chorus, as white hinder land accused him of plagiarism, so isn't actually a sample from that song :)
I really enjoyed watching this series. Surprisingly, I haven't heard any songs Timbaland produced which he's known to have taken several unknown samples from various types of music.
Bruh Animals' pluck is a Nexus Patch. As you can tell, their tones are completely different, and the Busta Rhymes clip had rapping over the pluck - making it impossible to get the 100% clean sample needed for the long reverb in Animals to be smooth.
I'm sure some people here will already know this, but the same Gladys Knight & The Pips sample from "Love Finds Its Own Way" was also used on a track from the Eels called "Susan's House".
Nice set of videos, barely found out about it today. Another one you should add to the list is Steve Winwood's "Valerie" which is sampled in Eric Prydz's "Call on me".
Alf Berger you're wrong. Kanye West is not only a rapper, he is also a producer. He (or another producer) sampled the Daft Punk song, Daft Punk didn't produce the Kanye song. They're in the music video because of the sample and stuff. They both said the song was not a collaboration, but the VMA performance of the song was a collaboration, since Kanye performed it live with Daft Punk
Blind Alley was also used by Big Daddy Kane in 1988. "Ain't No Half Steppin'. Poppa Don't Take No Mess was sampled previously by Biz Markie "The Vapors" in 1988 as well. De La Soul sampled I Can't Go For That in 1988. "Say No Go". This entire collection is outstanding work. Great job.
Sampling can be (and often is) one of the most inventive and artistic techniques in modern music. But nothing gets me madder than an artist taking a sample, speeding it up, adding some tremolo or something, and getting a hit song out of it.

That number by "Gladys Knight & The Pips" is also sampled in "Susan's House" by EELS, you might be interested in to learn. I had no idea it was a sample!
Armend van Helden was 1998 not 1999 & Emotions - Blind Alley I thought you were gonna put Big Daddy Kane - Ain't No Half Steppin as that was a big hit too from 1988!
Probably mentioned somewhere else deep in the comments but Gladys Knight and The Pips - "Love finds its own way" is also sampled on Eels - "Going over to Susan's house."
Martin Garrix is both a music producer and both a DJ. This means that he produces his own music and also plays at live sets his music and others music and mixes it but Animals is his own song
Gladys Knight & The Pips - Love Finds Its Own Way (1974) --> Eels - Susan's House (1996) --> Pez - The Festival Song (2004) --> Atmosphere - Yesterday (2008) Popular song.

noisymon Everybody knows about that one
Sarcastichuman Beingsarcastic i mean with that logic why even make the video to begin with. obviously not everyone knows that.
Same could be done with the last one followed up by “Mr. Worldwide”
noisymon daft punk was shown in the video so it probably doesn't count
ADudeWhoJustSaidHi but the Daft Punk one is the more famous one.
90's music borrowed a lot from the 70's!
New music now still does even when you wouldn't expect it

Well of course. Most of the people who made music in the 90s were either born or grew up in the 70s!

oh god...
no, it has italian word how can it be australian?
dega235 hmmm I really have no idea? There is no such thing as singing in another language, or immigrants. No Italians ever came to Australia, ever.
dega235 obviusly we no speak americano is the fuckin' remix of tu vu fa l'americano
Andrew I think you misunderstood. The original song is from Italy and the recent remix is Autralian. It isn't that nonsensical
Martin Garrix pulled the percussive hit he used in animals from a vengeance sound pack and then pitched it up it was not sampled
(Just for clarity)
Parker Schmandt as I said it might was inspired by the other song but not sampled from it
that's what I was thinking too
Parker Schmandt when hip hop producers do it it's stealing, but for your favorite artist it's an inspiration. get the fuck out of here
Balzac T. Bagher OMG u are so stupid bro Hahahahaha
Balzac T. Bagher Rappers aren't musicians.
I think the Animals one was just a coincidence
Actually it was inspired by it, but he used something else.
Wardy its not same at all.. Plucks like those exists at greater slight variations
Yeah hahaha it just a same soumd
Wardy the original came out in 2001... So at that it wasn't so old and I guess Martin garrix would have heard it somewhere and got inspired 😉😮😶
Definitely not sampled at all

Anthony Kaleta Ikr Michael Tan it's all about supply & demand. We demand, you supply lol.
George Michael samples a lot but it never feels wrong cos the samples usually fit so well into an already amazing tune
Will Smith's Men In Black also inspired the Black Bin Bags song Dave Spikey sang in Phoenix Nights!
