hey hey the L sazimai is actually not considered a dwarf species because as an adult they reach about 5 inches - so on the small side but not quite a dwarf. Sry about that!
@@jgscatsandthings5208 yes, mine go totally insane... was always on display for a 8 months, and after rehousing in a bigger enclosure go under the cork and i do not see my Sazimai almost a month...
I just bred my OBT's which I've heard they are the least likely to eat the male but I fed her every day or two for the week before I paired them. I have no idea if it helped or not but I wanted to make sure she was nice and full lol. I now have a bunch of little slings I have to separate from mom this weekend. Meanwhile Daddy decided to take a permanent rest 2 days after I discovered the babies. He made it 2 1/2 years after maturing and I honestly didn't expect him to make it long enough for my juvenile female to mature and be ready to breed but he did. RIP Bumblebee 🕷❤
I will never have spiders, I have not been as successful in getting rid of my arachnophobia. But thank you for letting some of us experience these guys through your channel! ♥ They're super cool from a great distance. 😅
A few months ago I bought my first tarantula, and she is ALSO a L sazimai! I named her Lady Jessica, and I absolutely adore her. She is definitely very sassy, and super fun to watch. I had kept bugs before, mantids and millipedes. But after watching your videos I couldn’t help but get myself a tarantula! Lady Jessica is definitely my favorite critter. Thanks for all you do Kat! I always look forward to your videos. ❤️
The changing colors pumpkin is awesome. My Brazilian blue beauty is one my favorite T's, and she is chill I love her. Love your videos keep up the hard work.
Kat this was a Wonderful Rehousing for both Tarantulas. Both Enclosures are Not only Gorgeous so homey and inviting they are Very generous in size they will both do Great in their new homes. Your spider Babies are both beautiful They have A Very Caring nurturing 🪴 Momma 🖤🕷️🖤
Awesome video kat, I'm in UK and ordered from ArchnoSpace. I also lost my D.Dimond ( can't remember the last name of the blue diamond soz) ❤ lovely to see your looking gorgeous 😍
Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us. Like many others, I’m absolutely terrified of spiders. They’re so interesting and beautiful too. Seeing your videos gives me my daily dose of chills and awhs. 🖤 😅
I love the new enclosures, that is a great idea !! My only thing would be that pumpkin, not so much. In my experience you have to provide a hid, but one they can dig a little. I would be very interested to find out if she uses it. She just might, it’s us cute. I do love your way of putting in smaller stuff. 😊😊
I also have a L Sazimai and you're absolutely correct Kat. Once they moult they really, really "pop" in colour. The red hairs on the abdomen in contrast with the blue is just... Astounding. Nice video👍.
I started watching you a while ago and you really inspired me to get into spiders. I now have 3 jumpers and am hoping to get more and eventually get into tarantulas. My son has never shown an interest until tonight. He sat down and watched this video with me and afterward asked if he could look at our spiders and help me feed them. Keep spreading the spider love
Hey Kat, I am a new viewer who found your channel a few days ago and I have really been enjoying your videos. I got my first tarantula (GBB) today and am so excited to continue learning about these amazing creatures and grow my knowledge as the tarantula grows. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks and keep up the great work!!!
I remodeled my new tarantula's enclosure today because she wasn't really happy with the hide set-up I had before (and I could see I was right about that after I moved her because she's already used her new hide and she never went in the old one). She was also not happy about it and noped at me the whole way, so I was relating to this whole thing. lol
Diamantinensis prefer an arboreal set up in my experience or at least the option to be semi arboreal but mine always choose arboreal. That could be why she is like that. She's being forced to burrow, mine stop burrowing before they are 1". Also once u have the husbandry right, they actually web quite nicely. It won't be total chaos like what your female has going on loll
I so appreciate your videos. I had to get rid (gave them to loving homes) of all 18 of my Ts when I was forced to move. My new place would not let me keep them. :( I am going through T withdrawal.
I'm sort of doing this with a few of my spiders as well, my Harpactira pulchripes ran out of it's enclosure and on to my bed it was a tense few seconds but I remember what Dave says and stayed calm and sorted everything out. after that I started changing things to try and suit the spiders and my potential reaction to any of their shenanigans, and I soon learned that my T kahlenbergi tends to take long walks around the container and my T albopilosum will move around the Lego parts I give it, I don't know what's going on with it just that the Lego is in different spots every morning.
Idk ur the best at this type of content super funny and always happy I study spiders for university and I have very few as pets but I can ensure u that all of what I do to take care of them I learned it from you! Keep it up!!
Those enclosures are really pretty! The enclosure setup are always my favorite videos!!!! ❤❤❤ I saw in a video about praying Mantis (I think it was Clint or Snakes discovery who had say this) the trick they were told to not have the praying Mantis eat the male after the reproduction part was to be sure the female is not hungry at all! So having her eating before like you said is probably the way to go! 😊 (As I write this I'm more and more towards a Clint's reptile video😅)
I’m in the uk and just come across this video. Omg I want all the enclosures. I’m so happy we get to have them to I want so much stuff I can’t get here
Got my first T, a curly, in July, and found out yesterday its 100% a female, so yay!. My little A. chalcodes sling is eating, my G. pulchra is still hiding in her burrow, and my G pulchripes gets here next week!🎉
I've always said keeping Tarantulas in such small enclosures was no good for the spider, despite most of the hobby claiming big enclosures stress them out. That argument has never made sense to me. In the wild their enclosure is THE ENTIRE PLANET. Pretty sizable chunk of real estate lol. Glad to see Kat keeping an open mind and trying something new.
I recently got a 2cm obt sling, and as soon as i opened its little container it ran up my tongs and scared the hell out of me an my mum to the point of my cats running around wondering whats going on lol.
I would LOVE to get into the hobby..but as someone who loves and respects the animal life, I'm too responsible to take on any pet/animal that I know I wouldn't have the ability to take care of.
Hey kat, really nice to watch your content. Got a couple of questions to ask since I still didn't buy any taranchula yet but planning to buy a curly hair one. If the female started to attack the male, could we just hit her with a stick so she retreats and save our male? Also is it a good idea to feed up the female before starting the breeding so even if she was willing to attack him she would just forget about it?
P sazimai are not *bad*. They only have attitude. They're probably amongst the hardiest of all Ts. Mine were just tiny slings (3/4" perhaps), I left the 3 of them for over a month with no water, all survived (and even molted during that time). I added a water bowl since then, they're still not really that much interested. After a bit over 2 yrs one of them is now over 10cm (4"), will probably mature out next molt or so. These were the first Ts I brought up from such an early stage of life, and I can only recommend this species if someone wants to try it. They really do grow slow at first, until they reach about 2", though, which can be quite frustrating. An awesome, low maintenance species anyway! 🕷
A rather newer one being kept if I remember too. I think when I got her as a sling, they were just recently in the hobby and there was a lot of discourse on if they like it damp or dry. I think it was determined damp-ish with dry months is what they experience in nature but not sure if that’s the current consensus still .. regardless I have to agree, they are insanely hardy!
