If you just want the content other than the miniatures it is usually still cheaper in the end buying the starter box since it is usually never hard selling the teo armies. And the core book alone is about the price of the remainder. Then there is the rest of the goodies if you want to go into spearhead more. Personally ill buy the box and sell the two armies. I wont make a profit but it will be cheaper than buying things seperately later.
This is the type of objectivity which makes this channel great. I like the cross-usefulness of AoS models in WarCry. However, Skaventide is such a commitment. Furthermore, the gameplay seems so clunky I doubt I’ll want to play AoS.
Only about half of the miniatures in the box are from the Spearhead. So it's about 3-4 Spearheads amount of minis (similar to Leviathan having more than two combat boxes). I expect we'll get a regular release later, similar to 40k, with just the two Spearheads + Terrain + Fire and Jade as the new big starter.
Oh that's a good point. I had missed it, but today's videos do show that the spearhead rules only have 4 warscrolls for each army so there are lots of extra models. I guess this does mean if you ONLY wanted to play spearhead then there is some extra cost / potential resale.
I really, really wish they’d just put out two starters, one for each faction. I don’t want the Stormcasts at all and I actually want the Skaven for The Old World, not AoS. I’d like to get the books and cards and even the little terrain pieces.
I would say no because Skaven have allways been in a difficult spot. Add to that the horrible model made recently for them (a new moulder horror instead of some Eshin units we all are craving for)... i think it will be difficult to make some money from this starter set.
I think that Brood Terror was a leak, so hopefully they actually have a proper release with more units like the Nightrunners, Stormvermin, and Plague Monks. It would be criminal if the Skaven refresh after all this time only was the models in this box!
Thanks for the video as usual I’m pretty sure I can cherry pick for Warcry and resell the rest to make a small profit. Hope the Warcry rules come quickly
It seems like it would, but it's hard to know as they haven't released the 'compendium' warscrolls yet. At some point in the new few weeks GW will release a free pdf online which will have rules for all the units across all the factions. These will stay legal until that army gets a new battletome which for the Stormcast is likely to be soon.
just ask yourself two questions: 1. Do I want to have a bunch of very pretty and cool models? 2. Do I want to have the absolute crappiest time with one of the most horribly awful games on the market?
2. might be a little bit harsh, plenty of people enjoy AoS as their primary wargame and seem to be having a good time. 3rd edition was generally considered pretty good and well balanced, certainly when compared to 40k.
@@optimalgamestate oh most definitely, 40k is likely even worse. In my experience, people enjoying it just have never played anything else, like people still playing Monopoly while every single other boardgame being better, or have spent such an insane amount of money on the crazy overpriced stuff that they just have to like it now. But sure, people can enjoy whatever they like.
@@Nicolas-yd2mw 40k is absolute shite too, you're absolutely right you that regard. The worst thing to compare a game to. They're both godawful and trumped by absolutely every other game on the market without real exceptions. But you do you. Everyone likes something terrible.
Really thoughtful stuff as always Baz!
I'm here for just Speqrhead

How do the Stormcast from this box pair with the ones from Dominion? Can you mix the 2 boxes to get a decent start/core to Stormcast?

Na AOS is a very good game and much more inovativ and respectfull than 40K. Thumb down.
