I just persuaded my mum to cut my hair acording to your video and when she saw how amazing it looks she persuaded me to do it on her 😁 It was my first haircut, but she says she waited for twenty years until her hair looked this good 😊 so thank you, thank you, thank you 😍
Yes....this is what I wanted to see. THANK YOU James!! I truly appreciate your time to create these videos 💜 In agreement with all who want to see the round brush blow-dry as well.
Jane Fonda's hair kept it alive, too, before the pixie she has now. Her pic is always being shown to me. It's like a cross between the Lisa Rinna and the Rachel, but still a round shape (shorter in front going to longer in back).
Wonderful Lesley glad you enjoyed this. Yes a truly integrated haircut you’re absolutely right it’s perfectly and loads of different clients thanks for your comment 😁✌🏻
Yes Wendy I love this haircut too it’s nice that it’s back I posted the blowdry video on Wednesday if you want to check it out if you haven’t seen it already 😁👍🏻
Yes, I think this is going to be popular again! I think it is the fore runner of the long mullet, which is also gaining popularity in Europe and some Music Artists. We didn’t call it a mullet when it was popular! We called it a bi-level!! The Rachel was just a slightly different Shag! Look what Liz Taylor was wearing in the 70’s and it’s similar!! Great video as always, James!
Exactly Diane is like a shag you are bang on and you’re right it’s coming back, Long live the mullet of bilevel I like that term it makes it sound better I can sell it to clients like that client hears mullet and has a panic attack
Yes. THE bi-level! LOL. They were more 80's, though, and in to the 90's, but we don't perm them, now, and if we razor them or just texturize and finish them differently, they'll be cool. I love it.
Fantastic explanation James your so precise and such a wonderful educator were all so lucky to have such talent Walking us through these Amazing tutorials 🙏thank you a Million James 👍😊
thank you so much for this video! do you have any tips for this haircut if it was converted to a diy? I plan on cutting it for myself so would love to hear any tips!
To be honest this you could do on yourself I feel you would want to just gather up one whole side from your parting and slice up from where you wanted the shortest point to be all the way through to the ends 👍🏻
Oooh 🥴. It sends shudders down my back. I’m sure we all lost count of how many we did😂. Great video mate, I like that technique. I shall definitely be giving that a go. Thank for that 👍🏼x
Wicked pen yes after the amount of times I’ve cut this I didn’t he don’t want it to come back into fashion but I’m sure at some point it will make a big comeback
I'm loving your videos James - just what we all need after 3 months of lockdown. I'm certainly going back to work with lots of inspiration! Thank you so much x
That is absolutely wonderful to hear Jayne I’m so pleased you’re loving the videos and they’ve helped you through this lockdown period stay safe on your return to work 👍🏻
I love this hair cut I remember a version coming back in around 2008ish and I had it cut ..what I love as well is the episodes where it's quite chunky instead of Softer...actually if you notice around that time Monica has the same style..gives me dungeree and crop top and catapiller boot vibes 😁🌞
I agree with you. We tend to look 20 years back with style and fashion, so its going to be the 90's styles we see popping up in new versions again. I always loved jennifer anniston's layers looks, preferably the longer ones.
Yes absolutely we are going to have a swathes of 90s style is hitting the streets over the next 6 to 12 months and that Rachel haircut is most definitely coming back 👍🏻
The reason that the back is pushed into the front section and over directed is so that there is not a huge amount of layer in the back so the back is layered but not as much as the front hope that makes sense
Loved this and you make it look so easy!! I’m so glad this style is making a come back , I have acrually got my daughter to agree to do my hair like this .. yeah!!! My hair is very long and I’m happy to have some length taken of but would like to keep as much as possible , would this style look good on long hair that’s approx bra strap length ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated x
Thank you for sharing. I dont thought that`s so easy to cut. Brilliant. Idea for less stressfull turning around the puppets Head all the time- maybe someone can help you holding the camera? I´m happy find your RUclips-Channel. Greetings from Munich
Thank you glad you liked it yes I would love someone to film me but it’s finding somebody that is capable and has the time. I would love one day for the channel to be so successful that I could have a team of people that could fill me and help me produce the videos I would love to create the highest quality productions on RUclips for hair
Hi James. Great haircut thank you. Could you also square layer this along the top side parting? Just interested to know if its also achievable that way. Thanks :)
You could squarely the hair behind the two front sections if you wanted more layers in the back but you couldn’t spare the front two sections if you wanted to retain the shape in around the face hope that helps you 😁👍🏻
Hello , I appreciate you sharing Your videos and your knowledge. I am soooooooooohappy you are Showing us Rachel‘s haircut. I have A question,do you create your Out line for Rachel ‘s hair cut First ,or you wait-after layering it . Thank you a million times 😀😃😄 Layering haircuts first or You
Thank you glad you’re enjoying the videos to be fair I generally do the outline of my haircut first I don’t think it really matters a whole lot unless you want a very soft textured outline which I’m personally not a fan of unless the client wants it and in that case I will do the outline then I will cut the layers then I will soften up the outline hope that helps you
I freaking love "The Rachel," and thanks for teaching a simple, condensed way to achieve it. The way I used to cut this was way too complicated, and ended up needing too much refinement. This will give me lots of time to round brush the heck out if it. And I round brush all the time, still. Not everyone wants the broken-up wavy beach curls. Some just want a smooth, bouncy blowout.
Love this version and the previous 2000’s longer version. Do you know any hairstylist in Kansas City Area?? It is a struggle to find a good hairstylist and especially harder for me to trust one cutting my hair. Any suggestions much welcome, great video!
Oh! Actually...I love it! Think I had the even rounder version in my mind. Beautiful clear instructions as always. Another idea I had for the future : Dos and don'ts of disconnected cuts. ? I find them a bit intimidating, wondering if there are some helpful guidelines to it? Niki
You can most definitely round the back out instead of doing the diagonal layering that I did or you can cut the layers square if you don’t want so much weight removing from the perimeter. Love the idea of disconnect I have a video idea in mind 👍🏻😁
I still like this one though there’s something about it that has a very particular time stamped on it there’s not many haircuts that you can say that about
Cool video thank you! If a client would like this haircut, but they move there part could you do this cut middle parted? Also did you detail the hair after the blow dry texturizing little more reshaping?
Great question Chris yes you can cut this in a centre parting to you just follow the steps exactly as I did in the video but you just do it from a centre parting and no I didn’t texturiser personalise this particular shape as I wanted to leave it heavy and give it that circa early 90s vibes without refining 😁✌🏻
Love your work and the love for hair you have ! Your very talented once again beautiful cut and blow out ,how many years have you been doing hair James if u dont mind me asking ???
