    Good review. It's a shame the corners never really impress no matter the f-stop. The old Tamron 17-35mm is an alternative...sharper but loads of vignetting.

      Same do at corners the 24-85 between 24 to 35 mm.

    I have this lens on my D700. Yes there is some distortion but sharpness is amazing. Learn to use this and you have a lightweight lens with ultra fast and accurate focus for next to no money. I paid less than £100 for mine. Has no competition for the money. Want no distortion I use 35mm ais and 24mm ais f2 lenses. But this 18-35 is better for walking about with.

      Joe Margetts will it auto focus with a d700?

      I just bought this lens in excellent condition in the USA for $149.00. Perhaps I overpaid a bit, but my newer TAMRON 17-35 f2.8-4 would not step down on my "older" N80 and F100 film cameras. On the other side however, this lens works well with my D750.

    Thank's for the video. I just got the D750 and I am looking for a wide lens under 750 usd. I will be using it mainly for indoor photography, specifically I photograph a lot of apartments and small rooms. My focal length is probably around 20mm. Now, my two options are the Tokina 16-28mm or the Nikon 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED which I heard has a lot of barrel distortion and I am not sure if that will be 100% corrected in Lightroom. If it doesn't has a decent correction, this is a deal breaker for me. Both Nikon and Tokina are supposed to have great overall sharpness. Nikon having a slight advantage... I do prefer the weight and the extra mm on the top end of the Nikon, but the very controlled distortion on the Tokina has me very confused right now. Maybe another option will be to get a used Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED Any pointers? Many thanks!

      Hello Juan,I fully undrestand your point about barrel distortion.Without been sure about the tokina 16-28mm sharpness and overall performance on a ff nikon,that I want to tell you is that lighroom and ps don't correct it at 100% as you told,but lightroom specificaly do a good job to correct it but not perfect.I don't want to interfere on your choice.Now about the Nikon 17-85mm f2.8d you have to look it's performance first,and check in photoshop if it is available on profile correction (for post-processing).Check also if tokina is manual focus only or auto-focus,if you need the AF.Only thing is tha the nikon 18-35 3.5-4.5 gives a very wide angle and a good overall performance for the price,as also it's weight is very light for that kind of lens.Hope I helped!

    Will this lens be good for my Nikon D3100?

    • @dim19861103
      @dim19861103  6 лет назад +1

      Dac DT Hi,this lens with the Nikon D3100 will be 28mm-56mm due to the crop factor in aps-c (dx) cameras.You will have the same focal length with the 18-55 kit lens in the wider,and you gain more zoom as the 55 will become 80mm.The 18-35 is a very good cheap choice for full frame (fx) sensors and I think it's worth to save money and buy a cheaper 18-55 G kit lens with this camera.

      This lens will not auto focus on your body so no not good for you. Buy the 18-55 kit lens for DX.

    I wish you had picked a subject without trees and bushes at the edge, not good to judge a lens
