You could literally give me some old entry/mid range Ibanez RG if I was stuck on a desert island and I'd be happy. I used to hate painted necks but I dig the friction-y feel and it does look a bit flashier in a good way.
I like the simple look to it and the pick up covers. I was bummed to see it get a thumbs down but always thankful for your honesty. I hate when I buy something after someone gives a good review and it turnes out to suck. I know its a long shot but I would love to see the RGA42HP. Thanks Elmo
I am no expert on guitars, but every time I was looking for a budget guitar I saw a lot of messages like "usable whammy under 500 eur? Not very likely". Luckily, the only guitar I have with a whammy is a Harley Benton and it's as good as it gets for the 300 eur I paid for it. You can do simple tremolo stuff, but no dive-bombing or anything.
Hi! I watched it yesterday in the store. It has a very good workmanship, like the Japanese guitars of the 80s... A great platform for upgrading for $210.
Man, I think I will get this guitar. Change the tuners to locking ones, change the string trees to rolling ones, change the nut to a graphthech, and the tremolo won't be a problem. I'm gonna divebomb on this, mark my words
Please replace the pickups if you do get it, I've had it for nearly 2 years and the pickups have somehow really degraded and picks up TONS of unwanted noise making it unplayable at times
Elmo, you do the best Reviews at all 👍🤘 Short and snappy.... to the point..... funny/witty..... when you praise a Guitar (or Hardware), then she/it deserves it.... and my beloved, favorite Whammy-Bar attacks 😁.... you do it, how it should be 👍👍👍 You go off like Schmidt's cat 😈 🤘 Big and many, many Thanx for your work and playing 🤩😍🥰 Best Regards to Finnland from Essen (the Ruhrpott) / Germany
Hi Elmo I have just recently started getting into guitar and was wondering if you’d know what the best places are to order the guitars online like the Yamaha Pacific 112vm?
I’m not Elmo but, don’t!!! Go to your local music store. You can then try it out in person. If the one on the shelf isn’t quite right you can have them bring out another or two. And they can possibly correct any problems it may have. You may pay just a little more but well worth it.
For me, I would simply never use the trem on a guitar of that price range, which sucks because I love trems. That being said, it could be a great mod platform. Slap a some Gotoh hardware in there and you've got yourself some great stability
I think the guitar looks awesome and the colour. I would choose this over a fender or Gibson. Don't get me wrong I like them, buts it's good to go with something different
Hi Elmo! I really like you reviews! Is there any wood-mounted-pickup guitar with a trem bridge that you would suggest beside this one? I hate pickguards and mounting rings but i cannot seem to find any options at local stores nearby...
This guitar uses the T106 trem bridge which they use on the entry level guitars and is not one of their best. I have a GRG120QASP which uses a T102 two point trem bridge and stays intune when you have set it up correctly, the price difference is not that much but that T102 bridge is far better. Ibanez are like a lot of brands entry level guitars, you need to choose the more expensive models to get decent hardware.
I'm building my own strat at the moment and wanted to ask I'm thinking of putting copper shielding in the recesses but is it worth it ? have come across this at all ?
It will be of great benefit if you are installing Single Coil pups - as they are prone to picking up atmospheric noise/hissing etc. Humbuckers less so. Personally, I'd always shield both the pickup/control and jack socker cavities
I've had several Ibanez guitars in my day, and this series was one of them - and hated it the most. It's the bottom of the line, and should stay there. Great for beginners, but as you progress and find other guitars, you can quickly outgrow it.
I kinda don't like the clean sounds from those pickups, and yes, that neck paint was too much... Looking forward to see some entry level Jacksons :) Cheers!!
Personally I think if staring out with an affordable instrument it is better to avoid a trem bridge; cheap hardware always sucks in every possible way mate. It is way better to begin with a fixed bridge....and later, if needed, invest in a guitatr with proper trem hardware. Personally I do not like them all and all my guitars, bar one, have fixed bridge. Nice play brother Moikka 👽🤘
Another brand like Yamaha that I have nearly bought several times (second hand at bargain basement prices) only to walk away at the last moment as they just do nothing for me.
I don't understand why you think the angle of the screws which hold the claw can in any way determine the way the springs behave. That claw could have screws that go completely sideways, like up and down into the body, and it would work the same way. You're kinda braking the laws of physics with that claim :)
Ok, now we're there at this point where i have have to disagree. I am very sorry. and i will put this in front. I will stay a follower (subscriber), i will stay on patreon because i your videos, BUT now you put a guitar down in rating for something that it was not built for. These bridges and also the one's on a standard Fender strat are never, N E V E R built to move the whammy bar in both directions. If you set it up and it works...fine, lucky you. If you want to move the bar in both directions buy a f...g floyd rose one. Best example is your JEM jr. which works fine probably. Leo invented these bridges to lay on the body of the guitar and not hanging around like an unhorny dick. These bridges should be used slighly for some surfy alike or jazzy, bluesy tones. They are not meant to play monster metal divebombs. IMO this is an unfair test for a good instrument. This guitar costs 214 Euros and it is not a Harley Benton where you buy 3 exact same models and get three different guitars. I am playing guitar for 48 years now and i owned a lot and i mean A LOT of theses guitar perversions and i have only one left (HB pink Tele) which has no issues. I had never any problems with an ibanez wether it was a cheap or an expensive one. To all the haters out there. This is my opinion. Btw. i gave a"like" anyways.

Always such great playing! You make them all sound fantastic!
indeed

Thanks for the review Elmo as usual I appreciate it. Cheers have a great day.🙏✌️❤️

Harley Benton mainly uses Wilkinson VS 50 tremolos in this price range.
Very Informative Great review
Glad you liked it
thinkin about getting that guitar! will it go out of tune when using the whammy bar alot?
oh damn just got my answer in the video lol
I bought this guitar a few days ago and it's amazing. Mine is fine about cosmetics and other stuff. I highly recommend it.

na, I'm gonna get a jet guitars jazzmaster instead@@ramsonk
I never understood why people want trems on cheaper guitars.
Fixed bridge is better overall if you're looking for a cheaper guitar.
when you test a whammy bar i can't breathe! lol that guitar survived pretty well!
Floating setup with 6 screws trems are nearly impossible to be in tune.
Dive only will be ok.
Blocked will be ok.
For floating, tremsetter obligatory.
Works fine on many guitars, like my Strats, the Eart Strat, Jet Strat, and a few others I've reviewed.
Elmo, you do the best Reviews at all 👍🤘

You must record a cover of Paranoid - that was beautiful!
I think the guitar looks awesome and the colour. I would choose this over a fender or Gibson. Don't get me wrong I like them, buts it's good to go with something different
Hey Elmo,
big fan - what's your recommendation for a good scallopped budget strat?
Thanks
Sorry, I don't have one :(
buy a used Squier Classic Vibe (pref. one of the older Made in China models) and either scallop it yourself or get someone to scallop it for you
Awesome Jam ❤
Hey Elmo! Great review as always. Can you check out the Yamaha Pacifica 012 in one of your future videos?
Hey Elmo iam thinkinh between buying this one or the grx 40 one what's your reccomedation?
Thanks for great review as always
RG neck - thin C
RX neck- thinner D
Wizard neck - thinnest D
nonsense. The original RG550 had the Wizard neck. Now superseded by the Super Wizard HP neck - which is an equally slim Flat "D"
@@ThePedroDB that still belongs to the wizard neck category 🤦♂
Anyone know if there is a big difference between the GR121 and GR330?
Great review, try jackson js12 next and compare it to this ibanez
Thanks!
Thanks for another honest review. How are the Pau ferro fingerboards? They look very 'fake tan orange'.
But if you didn't use the trem it sounds very good ( your playing is amazing by the way!).
Cheers!

Yes it is, I say this not as a guitar player but as an electronic engineer. Without the shield you will pick all kinds of interferences
It will be of great benefit if you are installing Single Coil pups - as they are prone to picking up atmospheric noise/hissing etc. Humbuckers less so. Personally, I'd always shield both the pickup/control and jack socker cavities
Gracias esperaba esto, saludos desde México
Wow was really not expecting your final review. What a shame.
Can play heavy metal?
I've had several Ibanez guitars in my day, and this series was one of them - and hated it the most. It's the bottom of the line, and should stay there. Great for beginners, but as you progress and find other guitars, you can quickly outgrow it.
for a beginner what would be a better alternative choice in your opinion?
Looks nice not my favorite looking humbuckers I prefer the twin Pole ones but drill dounds good
Cheers!
Can you review the Ibanez RG120QASP?
Edit: this is my guitar and it has the same bridge. Im wondering if it has the same problem.
I kinda don't like the clean sounds from those pickups, and yes, that neck paint was too much... Looking forward to see some entry level Jacksons :) Cheers!!
Nice one! I've been intrigued by the very same one recently. I think I'll avoid now. Thank ya!
JS400 still best in class at this point I reckon 😁👍
Yeah, me too.

👽🤘
Do you think this guitar would be better if I installed duncan jbs in it?
Probably
Awsum guitar but i just don't like the colour ....i guess there is no other colour option
Another brand like Yamaha that I have nearly bought several times (second hand at bargain basement prices) only to walk away at the last moment as they just do nothing for me.
This or the grx40
any Squier Stratocaster, properly set up, is better than any Hoshino Gakki crap - especially when you factor in the price point

That claw could have screws that go completely sideways, like up and down into the body, and it would work the same way. You're kinda braking the laws of physics with that claim :)
Just as explained to me by my luthier friend.
@@MrPolevaulter Ah, got it then, luthiers are a weird bunch, they often have metaphysical explanations :D
also for every luthier there is a different opinion on the same subject
@@gaddebeli
@gaddebeli Agreed. It's a nensense claim. The Claw pivots on the screws to give a direct line of spring pull between claw and trem block
