i have just picked the sport up last season. went once to shawnee mountain, poconos, Pennsylvania. and i immediately fell in love with the whole movement. and i always research anything i get into or get super invested. and so i found your channel and i have been watching since last season. so it feels really good to know that a year ago i found you and itll be close to a year that ive been watching alot of your videos. thank you so much for all of your content. your inspiration. your overall kindness and character, ryan. thank you for being apart of the snowboard culture. cheeers.👽
Same here man! 37 and finally got the opportunity to board and fell in love with it. Live in the midwest (Indiana) and have about a 2-1/2 to 3 hour drive to nearest place, but I prefer going north to Michigan. Was a painful first few days but after I got the hang of it, it was magical! Can't wait until I can go out west!
Appreciate the kind words Pete, stoked to hear how you immediately fell in love with it! It’s a beautiful thing, gliding down a mountain on a piece of wood with a bunch of rad homies having the time of their life. ♥️
@@Discernftw yeah same man I’m on the east coast and anything close to me is about 3 hours away. But I love the journeys up to the mountain the eating the sight seeing. The shooting the shit lol. It’s a great time.
ayeeee Shawnee was the moutain I first learned at😂😂 that place will always have my heart but blue mountain is the spot in the poconoes now!! Love seeing a Shawnee shoutout around a ryan vid lmao
Dude at that moment when you got that accidental half cab, it was like you became a whole different rider all of a sudden. The confidence went sky high and it opened you up to harder tricks. It really shows that it’s all in the head fr.
I’ve met you one time at Hyland Hills ❤😂🎉 I hope to see you again! Btw that’s crazy your still snowboarding cuz I live in Minnesota and I’m just getting started with a new ski season❤ see ya at Hyland hill soon❤
switch all day is good training but don't stop your self from enjoying a regular run when they add new obstacles :) you might also gain insight in little things you didn't realize when it comes to stance or something like that just by switching every now and then.
I like to challenge myself to muster the courage quicker to try them switch if I keep riding by them you know? Otherwise I won’t be thinking about hitting it switch and going through the motions in my head.
@ryannpurvis I can't believe you responded to my comment I've been following your patreon since it start and I've been watching your videos for the last 3 years you are so inspirational I just got my first job at the 49 degrees north resort because of you keep doing you man much love brotha
Hey Ryan! As always absolutely loved the video, gets me super stoked about the upcoming season! I’ve been snowboarding since I was 2 (and am 21 now) and have always snowboarded in the French Alps with my family, so i’m really comfortable with control, speed, turning etc. but switch riding has been a massiveee struggle for me. I’m regular, but when I ride goofy, it feels incredibly off putting, like i’m doing something wrong, especially with my stance and turns like im a complete beginner all over again hahaha. I usually get a few goofy runs in, but i’ve never tried going a full day since I get frustrated quickly, and with only a week each year on the slope, I usually end up sticking to regular. So I wanted to ask you, do you think doing a whole day of switch is the best way to get comfortable, or would you recommend easing in with maybe like a half day or on and off on the slopes. I’d love any advice you have, especially for improving comfort because it honestly feels like i’m doing something completely wrong lol. Thanks a lot and happy shredding out there can’t wait for the next video!
The best way to get better at switch is riding switch as much as possible. So if you only get 1 week a year to ride, that’s up to you to decide how much time you want to dedicate to it! Some things that have helped me is to remember to stay stacked over your board and maybe adjust your bindings to make it a little more comfortable.
@@ryannpurvis Thanks brother! I think I will slowly get more and more practice in each time that I can because I think in the long run it will be super beneficial. Greatly appreciate the tips as well!
I’m no expert but my guess is you are more comfortable half cabing onto a rail from switch because you’re landing on a rail normal which you do all the time but when you front 180 from regular you’re landing switch on the rail and that’s less comfortable therefore harder
those skiers would be wearing race gear. park/freeride skiers are chill. it's those racer squids that think they are hot stuff but can't avoid cutting you off nobody likes 😂

I love your videos and look forward to them all day!!❤
Amazing work as always Ryan!
W for tactics, comment for engagement
It really does open up your potential
You def gotta try reg 180s onto rails. It'll be easier than a switch 5050 honestly
Awesome video again! Ill go for a switch day also soon
I finally got past the landing on my talibone phase a year ago, now I gotta do it again 😭
Hey do you mount your bindings switch too? Just curious. Also would you ever make a snowboarding movie? That would be sick 🤙
