Did this one day last season and it was surprisingly fulfilling. Nailing down switch riding is one of the best things I ever did to unlock more enjoyment from my riding
People who don’t board truly can’t understand how off riding switch can be unless you start off doing it regularly from the youth days learning how to board and keep doing it constantly with intention. Nice work today, Ryan!
I rarely get an entire day on the hill, but I've intentionally mounted my bindings switch and forced myself to ride every green switch as much as I could for a few hours. It's a commitment and will force you to become more comfortable with your switch stance.
Just found your page Ryan and I’ve gotta say, you’ve motivated me to be a better person and also kick the skii’s for a bit n give the board a try. thanks for the uploads guy keep it up 💪🏽
I got pretty decent at riding regular before I made a proper effort to ride switch. For a long time, switch heelside turns were impossible for me. It finally all clicked when I heard about knee steering. When I applied that to riding switch, it wasn't too long before I was finally able to cruise and feel comfortable switch. It also helped that I was riding with some friends who were slower than me, so slowing down to practice switch made sense.
Your cab 3s are really clean. The way you went into that cab 1 onto the tube, I think cab 1, 2 and 3 should almost come more naturally than sw bs board. One of my favourite progressions! I usually start with cab 1 to tailpress. 2's require a very confident front blunt so maybe throw in a couple of those. Then 3 to sw nosepress is really interesting, + all the outs..
Yo Ryan this is so good u got me into snowboarding as I used to ski but now I’m having snowboarding lessons and I should be going snowboarding at Christmas (I’ve only done skiing before ) if you have any tips for starters I’ll be very happy! Thanks for all the great content
I’m goofy too, what helped me with regular was imagining. I’m ambidextrous so that may have an extra effect too but i suggest you try this. Imagine a POV in your head doing crazy tricks first as a goofy, then switch it in your mind and imagine the same things as a regular. That could stimulate your opposite side.
Sorry, I'm still a beginner at snowboards tricks but trying to learn the namings. Is the one around 13:00 not a lipslide? Since you're facing downhill? And boardslide would be facing uphill? Its just really confusing for me and I'm trying to figure it out
@@rock_your_boat usually im 15,-15 but to ride switch all day, I felt this need to turn my right foot out more, so far I've been running it and liking it.
im new to snowboarding. Who decided that riding "switch" / goofy is backwards? Right handedness is more common in the world is it not? I'm ambidextrous for the most part, yet find riding goofy uch more comfortable.
What 'switch' means , im new to boarding. Is it to swap your front leg from time to time ? I got confued when he stepped on board and said 'i forgot im riding switch today' Isnt it the same on what side of the board you put your feet ?
Switch is when your right foot is in front. It's also referred to as 'goofy'. He said that because in the beginning he was preparing to have his left foot in front but that's not switch, that's just the regular stance.
@@uniquebeginnings nah switch is just whatever isnt your dominant stance. If your main stance is goofy, switch would be riding in regular for you, and vice-versa
hi i have a question so ive been snowboarding over 5 times within the past 2 years and ive progressed and got down the basics and i can hit some small jumps but that was on rental gear and this season i was looking to buy a board of my own and was looking for some advice im also 5'5 130 lbs
Definitely check Facebook marketplace for some deals on second hand gear, or just walk into your local boardshop. The homies there are super knowledgeable and will be able to get you on a board that is perfect for your style of riding, height, and weight. Plus it supports your local boardshop!
@@ryannpurvis And that's why you have a popular channel, no BS just relate-able riding. Hope to bump into you on a hill someday, let us know if you ever venture Europe way.
I predict this is gonna be a goofy video.
I see what you did there
Haven't snowboard in 15 years and these videos made me pick up the sport again. Thanks Ryan!
Stoked for you Coffee Cat!!

I agree, it has the most bang for your buck I reckon
People who don’t board truly can’t understand how off riding switch can be unless you start off doing it regularly from the youth days learning how to board and keep doing it constantly with intention.
Nice work today, Ryan!
Not really, 3 days riding switch and it's normal
I didn't start riding switch til I was 25, it's easy
Appreciate you bro!

Crazy satisfying
Thanks for sharing your day Ronan. Really appreciate some good boarding videos

Aww appreciate the message! Stoked your giving the board a run! Have fun out there ☺️

This was a pure joy to watch.
Man learning switch has been on my mind lately...maybe this video is my sign. And shout out to Tactics for the hook ups!
I don’t even snowboard, but I love watching your humble videos. Positive vibes all around.
🫶
I asked for this so long ago. Cool to see it finally happen. You rock Ryan!
I love watching your video’s man. You inspired me to start snowboarding
Love to hear it man, appreciate the kind words ♥️
those 3’s were impressive did not expect that
buddy at the left at 3:15 ate It
I didn't even realize.
He’s so dedicated he is even driving up to the mountain switch!!!
Was not expecting you to be that good at switch. Nice job!
I've been waiting for you're new drop and it is a banger💯💯💯🔥
Finally I can watch some goofy pov from Ryan!
MAN I love these videos Ryan! Your a good dood!
This was very cool because with my lack of experience your riding looked very similar to what I see. I ride goof to be clear.

My goal this season is going to be pushing switch. Need to save my regular back leg it gets sore and tight late season.
I doubt you’ll see this, but thank you for making these videos. You got me to go snowboarding, and I really want to go again.
Hoping to go see some family in nz soon and your vids make me wanna hit the remarkables for a few days while I'm there
allready on the mountain I wish i was there love your vids man
Love you so much Ryan, you were the exact reason I got into snowboarding (and I have to say you make it look way easier than it is).❤
Aww 🫶 well it takes time and practice and eventually you’ll be able to make it look easy ☺️
HE REPLIED HE REALLY DID
i did this last year for like a week and it really helps
Yo ryan should i try to snowboard or stick with skiing? Ive been skiing for 3 or 4 years and kinda want to try but it looks painful
WAKE UP RYAN JUST POSTED
Ohhh Yeahhh!
More Snowboarding vids!
craaazy work switch all day man
When Winter comes at north America you are gonna shred
I'm going into my 2nd season snowboarding, I'm hoping to do similar with my switch this year, I'm so stoked for the season
same! it's gonna be an awsome second season
It’s a game changer!
I wish I could try snowboarding at least once I'm learning how to skate so I think I could pick it up a little faster than others
Switch straight air will always be the scariest trick, those 3s were impressive too. I’m a decent switch rider but a terrible switch flyer
😂😂 I’ll join you on the terrible switch flyer stance
"roll down the windows" 😂
My right leg is always at the front cant even think about left leg
Same
At school but watching it anyway 🔥
Casey you a real one

You’re gonna love it! Just remember to have fun! Keep your body stacked, slight bend in the knees, and dial in your stopping and carving first 🙌
@@ryannpurvis ok thanks so much
riding switch all day is crazy
Super hilarious videoooo 😂
Are you riding a regular width board or wide???
Can you make a board setup video showing you binding angles and what you prefer board spec. If you have one can you direct me to it.
Muy bueno , The Challenge! ✅✅ All Ready Check!
Holy switch!
This’ll be me my first day😂🏂
Switch top speed is wild. My top speed on a snowboard is around 75 mph and I would definitely not do that switch or even close really
2:52 The belly ripper!
Another w video
I need to do this. I’ve been snowboarding for 27 years and my motto is “fuck riding switch” I need to do this and change that
Mos def don’t want shoulders open keep everything in line with the board and stay stacked my dude
It just felt so weird if my shoulders weren’t open 😂😂 but yes, stay stacked! I always forget. Appreciate you!
I can’t wait for it to snow by meeee 😭
Damn, I should do that with skis, would get better for sure but people would think I'm crazy XD
Yo do it!
My goal for jibbing regular riding this season is basically get to your day 1 switch level riding lol.
excited to see it bro!
Switch day 🤙
taught i was gonna see a regular video
W to Tactics!
Honestly I’m lucky cuz first day on the mountain I liked riding switch a lot
as a goofy rider this video is pure agony. I can't ride regular to save my life

I am a righty I can do left once in a while like for tricks
Where are you snowboarding Ryan?
The remarkables New Zealand!
I have done days of switch riding but never rode lift switch! Never even consisdered it. What angles are you running?
I’m running 15, -18. But it’s all subjective. Experiment with it ☺️

Goofy is right foot forward. Switch stance just means opposite of what your most comfortable with
Why does most people ride left foot forward? I thought we're all right foot dominant?
where is this? looks so nice

Where do you get all your kit? Also love your vids thanks🙂
Everything I’m riding is linked is description
wow i got here the first one
Ur already riding and i have to wait 2 more months for snow😢

Fantastic,,
@ 4.25 "god I'm old" take it from a 54 yr old rider, you're not. You've got decades of riding ahead of you.
Oh yeah, I’m just taking the piss out of my myself, you will feel old when you reach for an Indy and hurt your shoulder you know 😂

What is switch
So I normally ride Regular which is where my left foot is my front foot. Riding switch for me would be my right foot in front
i want to start riding park anytips

I hate how his switch riding skill is like my normal riding.
