This is probably my favorite video of yours, the pure joy, the fresh powder and the amazing weather! Keep it up dude, cant wait to get back to shredding again next winter!
I love the Burton Step-Ons, I had them on my Free Thinker and didn't even pop out of them when my board snapped in half. Believe it or not they are VERY secure bindings.
I'm a beginner but I feel like I'd drop money on them just to save on renting gear for the season and spend a little more time riding. Same with the twisty boots instead of the lace ones
@@nightfighter7452lace boots are actually really good because once you have them tightened how you want they hold their out the day where as these other boots get loose after a few runs
@@nightfighter7452 I dont know if its worth getting step ons as a beginner but I would definitely recommend the boa on boots, I dont find its much more expensive and its so much more convenient
your laugh of joy is so contagious & it's exactly what it feels like when you're snowboarding. loving the content. can't wait for the New Zealand videos this coming winter!
that mental health speach followed by a few minutes of pure laughter and falling in powder is the exact reason i started watching your chanel and what made me fall in love with snowboarding
3:34 Everyone who's boarded for a few years needs to do a stance testing day. Bring a tool with you and after every run or two, change something. Maybe widen the stance, maybe move more towards the tail, maybe turn a binding a few degrees... just test everything out and see how it feels on the next run. Eventually you'll find the most comfortable/balanced/powerful position, and it might be different than what you expected. Oh, and write it down somewhere! I always set my bindings way back on deep pow days and then I have to remember where I had them before!
YES 30 MINUTES dude your a blessing thank you dude these vids honestly help with my stress and just grow my desire to go snowboarding. keep doing what your doing dude and thank you for being a great person!
Hi Ryan. There is a metal clip on the back of the boot. Slid your pants down into the clip. It keeps your pants from getting caught in the lock of the binding. You probably figured it out by now. Awesome vid as always. 😎
The step ons got me back on a board after lots of years. Relieved all my issues with circulation and pain. Got the photons and black step ons like your riding. 18 front 15 back, narrowed my stance a bit as well.
I’m sold on them- so fast, so convenient, excellent performance, and I love the minimalist look of no straps✊ But don’t go any softer than the photon boot- you’ll regret it. Great, fun vid- 👌
5:00 you're so funny man, I love your positivity and attitude in your videos, people in cities usually have access to parks with lots of trees it's not like they're only concrete everywhere 😅
You should try clew bindings if you don’t like the tight boots because you still get the same fast step in of the burtons but you can run lose boots and have the binding feel still
You should try the Swath boot if you want a looser boot. Super nice flex while being locked in or loosen off the lower angle strap on the Photon. One season in the Photons though and they break in to a really good flex
I always suggest to use the little clip leash that comes with it. Ppl think its uncool or whatever but its literally saved my friend from embarassment, a lawsuit and being kicked off the mountain when his board detached on a lift cause he didnt lock in properly. He didnt put his pants in the back clip and the connection came loose
@ I did it with my oven. Put your liners in at 185 for 15 mins on a lined pan. 3 pairs of socks. 2 snowboarding socks and one ankle sock. Take one liner out at a time. Put it on and in your boot and crank down pretty snug. Keep them on for 15 mins.
Bro I just learned this, when your on the lift, if you put your loose boot toes underneath the heel cup of your empty binding rather than under the edge in the middle, your boot gets shredded less. You can also wrap your loose (right) foot under your bound foot so your legs are kinda crossed and your loose toes are above the edge/top of your board. I did not describe that well but I hope it makes sense! When is this btw? This isn’t April/May right?
If anyone is getting step on and u have a channel board meaning a burton board with that weird track on it u HAVE to get the est step on bindings not the reflex u only get the reflex if u have traditional track system trust me it’s a lot better
Thankyou for this happy video..i dont have family and my good best friend or i thought he was. I loved him like a brother family. I come from severe inner city where ur life is at stake everyday. But i got back into snowboarding and im finally able to step out of the jungle and enjoy the quiet and inner laughter.. joy. But im just having a rough day realizing my "best friend" wasnt who i thought he was after 8 yrs. Im kinda all on my own now. This video just gave me a moment of realization that...life is still amazing. You just have to step into it and allow time to bring new things. I was on pretty much bed rest for 4 yrs due to health issues . My body is very weak. I'm starting from ground zero. But the last 2 years i worked sooo hard so i could snowboard again. I bought a season pass and its awesome. Everyday i have to front sooo hard just to keep good...to survive literally. But when i snowboard i just forget. I forget everything!! Its escape and exploration of many things. I used to surf when i lived in Cally. Now i live in snow and i love it!!! Thankyou for this video.
Nice to watch another one of your videos while i'm at home with a broken kneecap, bruised ribs and a gash on my knee the size of the english channel. Sports. They are good for you, they said.... Don't go breakboarding guys, keep it to wakeboarding or snowboarding.
I love my boots/bindings super responsive so I have a lot of forward lean on my step ons with boots done up tight! Getting in quick is easy but you sort of have to do it in reverse to what your brain is telling you.. heel first then toes. I would never go back to straps now.. the only drawback for step ons is unclipping where your toes are pointing down hill because you have to drag your foot forward which gets you up to speed real quick!!! But it’s only minor versus all the other massive benefits.
My only gripe about the EST System is you can’t have angles greater than 27 degrees, on EST bindings. The board won’t fly off your feet. When you tighten the fasteners, it locks into the ceiling of the board. I would argue you require less torque to get on edge with an EST board
It’s okay. Here’s how stupid my brain worked. It thought the map wraps around so you can go from the right side to the left, since you’re boarding the mountain.
@@ryannpurvis yooooo thanks for the reply man could you come to mount hutt it’s a great place and no big queues for the lifts great food and overall great experience I’ll be up there most weekends so I hope to see you!
Are there different stiffness ratings for the step ins? I'm very particular about my bindings since I snapped a pair in half last season. Life is hard for size 13 boots.
They are compatible with all boards with classic 4 hole patern and the burton chanel system. I'm pretty sure u can buy special disc for any other mounting style for them
nah I hurt them doing a workout, I was doing too many wall sits lol. They are getting back to 100% as we speak. Starting to strengthen them in my workouts from Chris.
I just got myself a set of Clews, think they're the best middle ground between the step in and step on bindings as you still have the ability to ratchet yourself in. Tried them for the first time last Friday and they did not disappoint. Highly recommend if any of you guys are looking for a step on!
nidecker has supermatics, but theyre heavy af. the main reason i place steps on top is the weight loss from lack of straps I own all 3: step-ons, clews, supermatics
how does the build quality / materials stack up to other bindings? i heard Clew bindings look like they use cheaper materials like those from rental builds....
@@partnah2887 can’t say I’ve had any issues with build quality/materials. Done some park riding on them and they’re pretty solid. You do get scratches around the point of entry but that kinda comes with the design and atleast doesn’t worry me Never had any issues stepping into them with snow in the mechanism - a quick stamp or brush seems to have consistently been enough to keep them clear while using button lift
